Chapter 8.1
I've been here for around a month now. My home has been built with my full effort and I've even managed to get the hang of the patrolling schedules around here. The only thing that has been bothering me ever since I've came here is the people's trust.
Having the great ability with defense is one thing, but to become the Captain of the Guard? Oh, that's a whole other level. Just because I was a human, they didn't trust me as both mythical creatures and humans have had a terrible history where us humans once hunted them down almost to extinction.
I have tried. I tried. I've volunteered teaching the children self-defense. Volunteered tutoring them in literary arts. Volunteered to help for everything that I can help with, but no avail. They truly despised me and if they didn't like me, what is the point of me being here? I couldn't even help Irene like this even though I was assigned the position of Captain of the Guard.
I sat down defeated on a large boulder by a beautiful lake. I seem to come here often lately. It's almost like my safe haven. Scratch that, it is my safe haven. Sitting upon that boulder and looking out into that lake, I wasn't even aware about my surroundings until I felt some pressure on my shoulder.

He turned around, looking at my hand on his shoulder before coming into eye contact with me.
"Lady Irene, what brings you here?" He asked, clearly shocked at my sudden appearance.
"Oh, I was about to head to town, want to follow me along?"
He seemed to hesitate as he pondered about my question, "It would be my honor." He smiled, but it doesn't really seem to reach his eyes.
We walked around town, checking out new buildings and visiting elders. Though one thing was clear, the villagers didn't like Esmund at all and I've got the solution for that problem. I headed straight to the local school where creatures of all kinds attend.
