{NATSU'S POV}
I wake up in Lucy's apartment, with something warm and heavy sitting on my chest. At first I think it's Lucy, but why would she be sitting on my chest?

Besides, Lucy's gone. Disappeared without a trace. Kira and I have searched for any clue as to how she might have left the city, or been taken, but nothing. Not a whiff of her, or the other girls either.

The trail begins and ends at Lucy's apartment. It's like all of them went poof in the night.

I open my eyes and see Kira, stretched out on my chest, sleeping peacefully. I don't really wanna wake her, so I put my hands behind my head and lay there for a few minutes, watching my cat sleep.

Kira reminds me a lot of Lucy when she sleeps. The way she breathes is similar, also how she sighs a little occasionally.

Then Kira wakes up, and her big brown eyes come face to face with mine.

"Meoooow!" She yelps and jumps off my quickly. "Mew meow meow mew, Natsmew!"

I pat her head and laugh. "You aren't very catlike, are you Kira?"

Kira stiffens and eyes me warily. And that's what I'm referring to. Especially when she's with Ame and Mini, when they meow it's like they're actually having a conversation. They act more like humans stuck in cat bodies.

Huh.

What a coincidence that Lucy disappears and then I get a cat just like her!

I laugh again. "Not! You're just a cat." And Kira relaxes. She puts a paw against her chest and breathes out, possibly a sigh of relief.

"Hey Kira!" I ask excitedly. "Want me to tell you about Lucy?"

Her ears perk up and she nods. "Meow. Mew meow, Natsmew meow?"

"Well, Lucy, she's really funny, and always gets mad at the silliest things. And she thinks she's sexy but can never charm anybody and—ow! Kira, what was that for?" She scratched me.

Kira turns her head, sticking her nose in the air like she's offended.

"All that aside, she's gotten a lot stronger than when she first joined the guild, and she can hold her own in a fight. We've been through a lot together, and she's my bestest friend!" I grin.

Then Kira does something that surprises me. She hops in my lap, stand on her hind legs with her front paws braced against my chest, and licks me lightly on my chin.

"Natsmew. Mew meow mew."

Kira backs away a little, burying her face in her paws like she's embarrassed. My cat is too cute.

I chuckle. "Aw Kira, that was a cat kiss! I like you too!" I kiss the top of her furry little head.

Kira's eyes widen, and she uses me as a kick board to leap off me and dart away. She almost most makes it, except she forgot about opening the door. She head butts it at top speed.

"Meooooow." Kira moans, clutching her head with her paws and rolling in pain.

I pick her up. "Come on Kira. Let's go to the guild hall. Maybe somebody found something about Lucy's disappearance."

After a second of struggling, she relaxes into my arms, and together we jump out the window.

When I get the guild, Mini meows and Kira wiggles out of my arms. They sit together, and have their conversation like always. Ame pays no attention to them, instead fawning over Gray.

Suddenly I really miss Lucy. Kira reminds me so much of her, and despite the fact that she's probably beating up her kidnappers, I can't help but worry. She's such a danger magnet, protecting her is a twenty five hour a day job.

"Did you here anything about the girls?" I ask Gajeel and Gray. Both shake their heads.

"You know," Gray says, "it's possible they don't want to be found."

I get up in his face, suddenly furious, and grab him by the collar. "You're wrong! Lucy wouldn't do that!" Everyone in the guild is staring at me now. "Lucy wouldn't leave me like that! Not without saying anything! She wouldn't!"

"Natsu..." Mira steps forward, arm raised like she wants to touch my arm.

"Damn it!" I growl, lurching away from Gray. I run towards the door.

"Natsmew!" I hear Kira call for me, and the skittering of paws, but even that doesn't stop me.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" I growl as I run through Magnolia. Lucy wouldn't run away, would she? She wouldn't do that to me, right?

Before I know it, I've reached the edge of the East Forest. Birds twitter cheerfully in the trees and the sun shines brightly through the canopy of leaves. That pisses me off.

Lucy is gone. The world should be dark and cold and miserable. "DAMN IT!!!" I roar, my anger shaking the trees and the earth.

I fall to my knees and pound the ground repeatedly with my fists. "Why Lucy? Why?! Where are you? Tell me!"

Hot tears fall from my eyes and hit the dirt, only to be absorbed into the earth and disappear, gone just like Lucy.

"Natsu!"

I gasp and look up. "Lu...cy?"

"Natsu, I'm right here!"

That voice is definitely Lucy's! I leap to my feet. "Lucy? Luce, where'd ya go?"

The voice came from behind me, so I spin around, but Lucy isn't there. Instead, Kira, comes running up to me, sides heaving.

{LUCY'S POV}
My heart bleeds as I watch Natsu. He looks around frantically and sniffs the air.

"Lucy?" He calls. "Luce, where'd ya go?" He turns and spots me.

"I'm so sorry." I tell him, even though I know he can't understand me.

Natsu looks around one last time, before giving up whatever he was doing and sitting, right there on the ground. I pad over and sit on Natsu's lap, and he pets me dejectedly.

"You won't leave me, will ya Kira?" Natsu asks suddenly. I lift my head and look at Natsu.

He hugs me. "I'll look for Lucy until the ends of the earth, but I couldn't bare to lose you too." Natsu buries his face in my fur, and my heart breaks.

If I want to go back to being human, that means Kira is going to have to disappear. But I don't want to put Natsu through this pain again. What do I do?

"I will never leave you Natsu." I tell him honestly. "Whether as Kira or as Lucy, I want to stand by your side for the rest of my life."

"Thanks Kira. You're a big comfort." Natsu murmurs. I smile and rub my face against his. We're gonna be alright.
