elina knew from the start, the signs,  the affects such as the chuckling,  the nightmares and visions.  She still spent het time near him, comforting and encouraging him. He told her of the possibilities of the monster he was afraid to become. But she didn't care.

She was his light in the darkness. The hope, the love that came from just seeing Selina fought it off.  Until the one nightmare came, it was graphic, it was long, and it had her as his victim.  Her losing every single one of her lives in agonizing ways...

She tried to tell him that it wouldn't happen. He didn't calm down and pleaded with her to do one thing if... He did become that monster. 

Swear that when I get old you'll blow all my brains out

She couldn't promise that..and soon he left Gotham. He did things around the world before vanishing from there as well.

But he did return briefly to observe,  afraid of her. Even as he lost himself he swore that he would never bring harm to her, and that he wouldn't bring harm to her. He barely reached some balance, some stability... He was still chaotic, laughing and he talked to her. Warning her that he could slip up...
