Chapter One
Alex's POV:
Alex stood by his mother's limp body. Never in his life had he cried so much. He and his mother had gotten horribly sick, he got better but his mother... He fell to the ground, the sound of the heart rate monitor was deafening. Doctors rushed in and took his mother away. He was told to sit and wait on his bed that was next to his mothers. He laid there crying for about half an hour until a nurse walked in. She put her hand on Alex's shoulder to comfort him. He looked at the nurse, his eyes and face were red from crying so much. The nurse had a sad look on her face, telling Alexander his mother couldn't survive. He whipped his head around and started crying more. The nurse sighed and walked out of the room to let him be. Alex was trying to calm down but he couldn't. He started thinking to himself. What will I do? Who will I live with? Will they leave me on the street to die!? The thoughts kept swirling around his head until he fell asleep.
Alex was woken up three hours later to one of the doctors that was standing by his bed shaking him awake. He looked over at the table that was beside his bed. On that table was a tray of food. Alex didn't want to eat. He wanted to be with his mother. His stomach grumbled, he was hungry but he still didn't want to eat. Besides, hospital food tastes gross. He looked up at the doctor, "Alex you have to eat. I know you're hungry." He told Alex, "I don't want to eat. I want to starve and die so I can be with mom." He mumbled angrily. The doctor sighed and said, "Well I'm going to go and when I come back you should at least have drank some water or have taken a few bites of your sandwich. Please Alexander." He told him as he walked out of the room. Alex was being stubborn and ignoring what the doctor said. A while later he couldn't take it anymore and sat up on his bed. He grabbed the food tray and looked at what was on it. There was a ham sandwich and a water bottle beside it. He grabbed the water bottle and tried to take off the cap but he couldn't. He kept trying but it just made his hand hurt, "Who puts these caps on this tight?" He asked himself and put the water bottle down. He then grabbed the sandwich and took a bite out of it. He chewed it and swallowed, his eyes widened with surprise. It actually tasted good! He ate more of it and was surprised on how good it tasted. He was getting towards the end until it started tasting gross like most of the food he ate here. He put the sandwich down and once again tried to open the water bottle but still failed to do so. He rolled his eyes and moved the tray back onto the table and laid down back onto the uncomfortable mattress. He stared at the tan walls of the room and slowly drifted off to sleep.
The doctor walked in to see Alexander asleep again. He looked over at the food tray to see an unopened water bottle and a half eaten sandwich. He picked up the food tray and walked out of the room.
Three days later he was laying on his bed staring at the ceiling when he heard the door open. He looked to see a doctor and someone else walk into the room. The person stood by the doctor and Alex looked at the man. He looked like his cousin Peter. Alex shot up, happiness spread across his face. He then shouted, "Peter! I haven't seen you in years! What are you doing here?" Peter smiled at Alex, "Well he is going to take you to his place to live there." The doctor replied, "Really!" Alex said with excitement, "Yes Alex, you're coming with me." Peter told him. He got off the bed and ran to Peter and gave him a big hug. Peter hugged him back and let go after a while. He looked at the doctor, "Well you should gather the stuff you took here because you're leaving later today." Said the doctor, "Okay!" He replied and went to gather his things. His only things being his old lion plush, a hair brush and a change of clothes. A little while after he was told to meet his cousin in the waiting room. Alex was walking down the hall and turned a corner to see his cousin at the front desk telling the secretary there that he would be taking him home. Alex walked up beside him, a smile on Alex's face. Peter looked over at him and ruffled his long brown hair and continued to talk. After a minuet or two, they were allowed to go home! They got in the car and drove away. Five minuets later they were at his new home! Alexander was so excited we was bouncing in his seat. Peter looked back at him, "Woah tiger." He chuckled, "Don't bounce to much or else your going to hurt your head." Alex stopped bouncing but still had a dumb looking grin on his face. They got out of the car and Alex bolted it to the front door, "First! I beat you!" He said laughing. Peter smiled and rolled his eyes while unlocking the door. The door opened and they went inside. The house was pretty big. Well bigger than Alex's old house. Alex took off his shoes and ran around the living room about six times before he ran out of breath and flopped onto the gray couch. Alex looked up to see his cousin, "C'mon Alex I'm going to show you where you are staying." He told him, "Okay!" Alex replied and got off the couch. Peter led Alex down a hall and into a bedroom. The walls were a gray-blue colour and there was a bed that could fit about two people on it. That bed had white sheets with a light gray blanket on it. There was a white bedside table, a white closet, a white fan, and a door that led to a bathroom! Man was this place huge! Peter looked at Alex with a warm smile, "Do you like it?" He asked, "Like it? Dude I love it!" He exclaimed and jumped onto the bed. Wow this bed is very comfortable! I could lay on this for the rest of my life if I could! Alex thought to himself. Peter smiled and said, "Well I'm going to start dinner, you have fun." "What's for dinner?" He asked, "I'm feeling lazy so it's just going to be chicken nuggets and fries with some cut up vegetables." He replied, "Vegetables are gross!" Alex said sarcastically and pretended to make a grossed out face. They both laughed and Peter left the room, closing the door behind him. Alex got off the bed and went over to the window that revealed the backyard. In the backyard there were trees that had leaves piled around them. Must be fall... Alexander thought. There was also a swing set too. Alex explored around the house until it was time to eat. After dinner Alex went to bed. He put on the pyjamas that Peter got for him and flopped onto the bed. Alex fell asleep with a smile on his face.
