Chapter Nine

Alex's POV:
It was later in the day and it was still storming. Alex ran home and slipped a few times. Alex didn't want to go to school anymore, he was so embarrassed for what had happened that day. He got to his house and he opened the door. Peter wasn't on the couch like he usually was when Alex came home. Alex thought he was probably in his room. He hung up his coat and took his boots off. The house was unnaturally silent. Nothing was making a sound except for the sound of rain and the occasional sound of thunder. Alex walked past the bathroom and could see the light through the crack of the bottom of the door. He knocked on the door. No answer. He knocked again. Still no answer. He slowly opened the door and was surprised at what he saw. "Peter!" Screamed Alexander. He ran over to his cousin's body. Blood was seeping from his neck and a bloody knife was in his hand. Tears formed in his eyes. "Peter!" He said again. Alex checked for a pulse. Nothing. Tears rolled down his cheeks. What made Peter do this? Alexander fell to the floor and cried. He heard a notification go off on his iPad. Alex didn't get up. He felt tired and weak. Tears stained his shirt. Everyone he's loved have died. What was he going to do?

A few days later Peter's body was gone. Alex didn't go to school after Peter had died. Plus, he was still to embarrassed from what happened at school that day.  Alex was a mess. His hair stuck up in random places. He wasn't taking care of himself. He was skinny and dehydrated. His friends would text him asking, 'where have you been?' And, 'are you okay?' Alex never answered. If someone knocked on the door he wouldn't answer it. Alex lay on his bed, looking out the window and thought. Where will I go? Will I die? What did I do to deserve this? Those questions swirled around in his mind everyday for hours. He soon fell asleep but an hour later he woke up to knocking on the front door.

John's POV:
Alex hadn't been at school for a few days now. He and his group all texted him but never got an answer from him. They were all worried. Even their teacher Mrs. Washington, was worried. It was now Saturday so John decided to text his friends to come over to his place. They soon all came and they were now in John's room. "Lafayette, have you gotten any texts from Alexander?" John asked him. Lafayette shook his head. "Hercules?" He also shook his head. "Angelica, Eliza and Peggy. How about you?" He asked the three sisters, "No." They all said in unison. John slumped on his bed. Nobody had gotten texts from Alex. "Do you think Jefferson, Charles, and George got to him again?" Lafayette asked. John shook his head, "I feel it's something more different." John said. "Maybe we should all go to his house." Suggested Peggy. John sat up more straight, "That's a good idea! Let's go!" He said and jumped off his bed. Everyone followed. They all got outside and John lead the way to Alex's house. "That was a short walk." Angelica said, "I didn't know you guys lived on the same street." Herc said. John went up the stairs and knocked in the door. They waited for a minute and got no answer. Peggy went up and rang the doorbell and still got no answer. "Hmm, weird. There is still a car in the driveway but it seems no one's home." John said and spun around to face everybody. John noticed Hercules going over to the gate that lead to the backyard of Alexander's house. John followed and so did everybody else. Hercules hopped the fence and opened the gate for everyone else. "Since when can you hop fences Herc?" Lafayette asked, "I like hopping the fence in my backyard. It's fun." Hercules replied and shrugged. John spotted Alexander's window with no curtain covering it. He went up to it and saw Alex laying on his bed looking like crap. He knocked on the window and Alex almost fell off of his bed when he saw them. Alex opens the window, "Hey Alex. Are you okay? You don't look so well." John asked. Alex shook his head. "You should move because I'm coming in." John told him and Alex got out of the way. John went through the window onto Alex's bed and moved out of the way for everyone else. John hugged Alex and he watched Lafayette wiggle his eyebrows at him. John mouthed 'stop' at him and he rolled his eyes. He let go and sat up, "Alex! You look like crap! What's happened?" Peggy said and shook Alex's shoulders. Alex grabbed Peggy's wrists and took them off of his shoulders and laid them down on her lap. Alex sniffed, "It's b-because of P-Peter. He's d-d-" Alex choked on his tears. Eliza hugged him, "It's okay. We're here for you." She said. Soon enough everyone joined in on the hug. Alex just cried harder. "C'mon Alex. You're coming to my house." John said. Alex nodded and got up. He then realized how skinny he was. He soon fell over but Angelica caught him and stood him back up and was holding him so he wouldn't fall over again. "Have you eaten or drank anything lately?" Eliza asked him. He shook his head. John sighed and they lead him out of his room but he stopped in his tracks when they got up to the bathroom door. Alex had stopped crying for a bit but he started crying again. "He-he was i-in there w-when it happened." He stuttered. He wouldn't move so John picked him up and went over to the front door. Lafayette opened the bathroom door but closed it and walked towards them. Eliza opened the door for John and he nodded a thanks to her. He took the crying Alexander outside and made his way to his house. On their way he was stopped by a woman walking her dog, "What happened? Is he okay?" She asked, a sympathetic look on her face. John just shrugged. He didn't really know if Alex was okay. He just walked past the lady so he could get to his house. He then heard Lafayette say, "We know what is troubling him but I don't know if he would like anyone else to know about it right now. See you soon mom." John realized that the woman was Mrs. Washington, Laf's adopted mother (is that the right term for it? I don't know..). "Oh sorry Mrs. Washington! I didn't realize it was you.." John said, "It's okay John. I hope Alex is better." She replied and the dog let out a bark. He went back on his way to his house. They got to John's house and Eliza again opened the door for him. He thanked her and walked inside, still holding a crying Alexander in his arms. His mother was in the kitchen getting some water but then she turned her head to see John and his friends with Alexander in her son's arms. She put down the cup and went over to her son and his friends. "What's happened John?" She asked quickly, "Something happened to one of his cousins, and he lived with that cousin but now he doesn't, and he doesn't want to talk about it right now.. I can tell you later I guess." John told his mother. She nodded and John and his friends went to his room. Alex put his arms around John's neck and stopped crying. They entered John's room and John laid Alexander down on his bed and sat next to him. Alexander's eyes were red and he just laid there staring at the ceiling. Alex soon later fell asleep and the group just sat there doing nothing.

Yo! This is a short chapter I know. But I will have longer ones.
