A living nightmare

"Alright, So what do you wanna do today?" Jack asked as he walked down the hallway beside Gabe.

Gabe shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, any ideas? I don't want to draw attention to myself."

"I can see why, the team isn't used to you being here. Hmm, maybe we can go to the gym?" Jack suggested.

"Sure, why not. I need to get my strength back anyway."

The continued down the hallway until they heard a heated conversation going on around the corner.

"Hold on, Let me see what's going on." Jack held his hand back, showing Gabe that he should stay back.

Jack turned the corner, spotting the group standing in the corner.

"Whats going on here?" He demanded, crossing his arms across his chest.

"No, what's going on with you?! I heard about what happened between you and that monster! You're sick in the head!" Tracer spat, pointing at Jack.

"Don't you speak to me like that! You have no right to judge me by my actions!" Jack growled.

"Oh yes I do! Don't you know that Gabe is a threat to this whole team? Or are you too dumb to figure it out?"

"That's it! Go to the detention center now!" Jack ordered.

Tracer was about to yell back, but she spotted Gabe peeking around the corner. All her anger boiled up inside of her and she launched herself at him, tackling him to the ground.

"I'll teach you a lesson, you worthless piece of rubbish!" She screamed, punching him repeatedly.

Gabe tried to defend himself from the attack, but he was caught off guard.

Monster!

The word rang in his mind.

Freak!

It started to get worse, his head began to hurt.

Worthless piece of rubbish!

That was the breaking point. He began to lose control of his form.

"Tracer stop! You're making a huge mistake!" Jack warned her, trying to pull her off of Gabe.

"You're making a huge mistake by keeping him here!" She snarled.

Gabe growled, blood trickling from his mouth. He shoved her off of him, rising up. His form shifted and he seemed like he was a ghost. His eyes were glowing yellow and he snarled.

"You! Never... call me that... again!" He said, stumbling a little. "I'm.. not a.... monster!"

Tracer scrambled back and glared at Jack. "Don't you see? This is why he can't stay here! He's a monster!"

"You provoked him! He can't control it!" Jack growled, keeping his distance.

"I'm... not a... monster!" Gabe repeated, clutching his head and twitching. He slammed his fist into the wall, making a crater.

Black fog swirled around him, making the hallway go dark.

"Jack... get away... from me.. Don't... want to hurt.. you..." he snarled, glaring up at them.

"No! I'm not leaving you until you snap out of it." Jack said, staying put.

"Are you crazy?! I'm outta here!" Tracer blinked away, leaving only Jack and Gabe. The group behind them had fled along with her.

Gabe's face was battered and bruised from Tracer's beating, but it was hardly noticeable under the black fog. He stumbled over to the wall, leaning heavily.

"Agh!" He growled, bending over. He shut his eyes tightly, wanting this nightmare to go away.

"Gabe, remember what I said before." Jack said.

"I-I Love you.." Jack's voice echoed in Gabe's head.

Gabe's eyes snapped open and he coughed, collapsing to the floor. He curled into a shuddering ball, muttering things that were inaudible.

Jack rushed over to him, going on the floor and pulling him close. This episode was worse than the last one, Gabe wasn't responding to his attempts to calm him down.

"Gabe listen to me, you are alright!" Jack said, stroking his back. He felt him go limp in his arms and sighed, realizing that he had passed out.

He lifted him up, carrying him to the Medbay so that Angela could help him more.

-In the Medbay-

Angela heard footsteps and looked up from her work, gasping when she saw Jack carrying Gabe.

"What happened?!" She exclaimed, moving some equipment so that Jack could put Gabe on the bed.

"He had another episode, but this one was worse. He isn't responding to me." Jack sighed, worry twisting in his mind.

"I'll try to see if he responds, but all he needs right now is rest. His stress levels are through the roof. How did this happen?" Angela asked, pressing a few buttons on a computer.

Jack clenched his hand into a fist, gritting his teeth in anger. "Tracer triggered it. She was arguing with me when she must've saw him around the corner. She just... attacked him and wouldn't stop. I saw him starting to lose control but there was nothing I could do.." He sighed, sitting down in a chair and placing his head in his hands.

"He will be fine, Jack. Don't worry about it. To get your mind off of it, go take a walk. Okay?" Angela smiled, patting him on the shoulder.

Jack huffed, standing up slowly and taking one last glance at Gabe before walking out the door.

He rubbed his head, trying to hold back his emotions. He knew Gabe would be fine, but there was just that one doubt in his mind that he wouldn't. These episodes would keep happening, gradually getting worse and worse until one day, Gabe will snap.

No, I'm not gonna allow that. I'm not losing the only person I love in this world.. He thought, turning down another hallway and thinking about what he should do with Tracer.
