2 years later

Max's POV

I stood in front of the fridge grinning from ear to ear. My own apartment. My fridge. My life was coming together.

"Morning" Hiei grumbled almost tripping over Botan, who was passed out on the floor from drinking.

"Morning" I smiled big. "What do you want for breakfast?"

A lot has happened over the last two years, I came out of surgery with an implanted power system keeping my heart beating. Leo became even stronger and fights for a living in spirit world. I tape his fights on my dvr. All of us graduated from high school, even Hiei did with a decent grade point average. Botan and I decided to get an apartment together, convently right next door to Hiei's and Kurama. My parents send me an allowance every two weeks thinking that college was expensive, which I guess they could figure that since they think I'm in Europe studying to be a nurse. Hiei's still on watch from the whole "black tape" with the big guys from the spirit realm. Yusuke hasn't been seen for the last year and a half after he went to Genkai's.

"I'm not hungry. Don't you have a job interview this morning?" He hugged me from behind.

"Yep. It's in a couple so I'll leave after I make lunch" I smiled down.

"Don't I'll take you out to eat after your interview. Leo is coming into town and he called last night so we're going to dinner to" he grumbled into my shoulder.

Hiei and I have gotten very close after the last two years. He wouldn't leave my side for a long time, I'm surprised he still pays half of his rent and doesn't live in my apartment.

"Botan I made you eggs their in the fridge" I giggled and made my way to my room after Hiei finally let me go. "Hey Hiei?"

I closed the door to change and I heard a thump agents the door.

"Yes?" He stayed outside.

"Aren't you meeting Yukina today?" I changed out of my pajamas into a summer dress.

"She's going to come to dinner tonight with us" I opened the door to him standing there a couple inches shorter than me.

"Awesome" I kissed his cheek. "I'll see you after my interview"

"Bye" he grumbled again as I ran out the door.

Hiei's POV

It wasn't a couple of minutes later that I hated the separation. I heard a knock on the door, and after stepping over the dead girl on the floor I opened to see Kurama.

"Is she gone?" He looked skeptical at me.

"Yup" I grinned.

"Tonight is going to amazing" he grabbed bags from designer stores and headed into the apartment.
