Midoriya had a hard time falling asleep that night. He had went to bed at 10, but it was currently 2 am, and he had yet to fall asleep. He felt.. guilty. About how Insomnicat had told him about his quirk, and yet Midoriya hadn't told him that he was quirkless. It felt wrong, like he was lying to the person who he considered a friend.

BroccoliBoi: hey, um. you told me what your quirk is earlier, but I never did tell you and that doesn't really seem fair so um, I'm quirkless.

Insomnicat: it's 2 in the morning Broccoli. Is this some kind of revenge for me messaging you at 5??

Insomnicat: also, does the quirkless thing have anything to do with the 'bold of you to assume I have a dad' thing?

Insomnicat: I thought that you were created in a test tube but if he's just a deadbeat I will track him down

BroccoliBoi: UH

BroccoliBoi: no it's not revenge, I just couldn't sleep because I felt bad about not telling you and I didn't mean to wake you up

Insomnicat: you didn't wake me up, I don't sleep

BroccoliBoi: and the dad thing is still classified

BroccoliBoi: I'm pretty sure you need sleep Insomni-

Insomnicat: I've went this long without it. You can't make me sleep

BroccoliBoi: sleep and I'll send you cat pics in the morning.

Insomnicat: okay, goodnight

BroccoliBoi: wait did that actually work?

He waited awhile for a response, only to find that Insomnicat went offline.

"Huh. It did work." He mumbled to himself. Then, he went to bed himself.

They continued talking even after that, which made Midoriya feel something... light, like he could take off into flight if he wanted to. He knew he couldn't, not without a quirk, but the feeling was still there none-the-less.

Despite knowing that he was quirkless, Insomnicat still wanted to talk to him and be his friend. He knew he shouldn't be suprised, with how Insomnicat hated quirk discrimination, but it still was an amazing thing to him. Other than his mom, everyone was driven away because of his quirklessness. But this person who he didn't even know stuck by him, even though he lacked any form of a super power.

A small smile made its way onto his lips just thinking about it.

He'd been doing that a lot more, since Insomnicat first messaged him. Smiling, that is. Sure, he did smile before, too, but it wasn't really real, just a mask to hide his emotions. But Insomnicat made him smile for real.

Sometimes, he'd wonder if it was real, if he had really talked to Insomnicat all those times, or if he'd just been imagining it to make himself feel better. Then he'd get a notification from him, and he'd know that all his conversations with Insomnicat had been real, even if they only met online.

But, while Insomnicat helped him feel a lot happier than he usually did, he still had his off days.

Today seemed to be one of those days, especially since Bakugou had been extra angry that day.

He sighed to himself as he flopped onto his bed, opening up his phone.

BroccoliBoi: Hey Insomni?

Insomnicat: yeah?

BroccoliBoi: I plan on applying for UA's hero course. Do you think I'll be able to get in?

Insomnicat: 1. I'm planning on doing that too, maybe we'll be in the same class. 2. If they don't accept you then clearly they don't know a hero when they see one.

BroccoliBoi: oh, I hope we get in the same class! Then we can finally meet each other!

Insomnicat: yeah. and then I can also get you to tell me what school you went to so I can have a very civil conversation with them.

Insomnicat: earlier you asked about UA right? Well the entrance exams are supposedly really biased towards flashy quirks, so as a back up plan, I applied to gen ed. If a gen ed student manages to get far enough into the sports festival, then they could tranfer over into the hero course.

Insomnicat: you should probably do that too, just in case.

BroccoliBoi: Really? I didn't know you could do that... Yeah, I'll send in an application for gen ed too.

BroccoliBoi: out of curiosity, has that ever been done before? I've never heard of anyone doing that.

Insomnicat: Only one person. It was Eraserhead, too.

BroccoliBoi: I have never once heard the name Eraserhead.

Insomnicat: ugh sometimes I hate the fact that he's underground because no one knows who I'm talking about and he's my all time favorite hero.

BroccoliBoi: well then tell me about him! I like learning new stuff, especially when it's related to either quirks or heroes.

Insomnicat: Okay I am going to do a BroccoliBoi Ramble(tm) at you now. Eraserhead is an underground hero who patrols in my area, Mutsutafu. I'm pretty sure he mostly patrols here because he's a teacher at UA, and he has a pretty high expulsion rate. His quirk is called erasure, and it allows him to erase the quirks of anyone he looks at, though it doesn't work on mutation quirks. He fights quirkless, and uses a special scarf that he can manipulate as a sort of capture weapon. It also works as a mode of transportation. Anyways he's super fucking cool and I'm kind of hoping that I end up in his class if I get into UA.

BroccoliBoi: Oh, that explains why I didn't know about him! Although, how to you know so much about him? And why are my rambles trademarked??

Insomnicat: I was doing research on underground heroics when I stumbled across him. Y'know, my quirk doesn't work if you know what it is, so it's best suited for underground heroics, so I decided to research it a bit. As for your second question, that is classified information.

BroccoliBoi: how classified?

Insomnicat: about as classified as to whether or not you were created in a lab.

BroccoliBoi: .....
