Amara
(A/N) Okay, maybe not the worst cliffhanger ever, but still a cliffhanger, right? Secilia called on Emma in her book, this happens (chronologically) before that. Wait, is that a spoiler?
Emma grimaced at the door, which was probably the thing blocking her, along with the type of stone the walls were made of. She'd already tried telepathy, which wasn't working either, but fortunatly, all her powers still worked, just not outside of the four walls hemming her in.
Going back through the portal, Ronan was instantly met with a groan from Kora when Emma didn't follow him.
"Where is she?" The demon girl asked wearily.
"She said for me to come through the portal and tell you that I could lead you in if she isn't back in an hour," Ronan reported.
Kora groaned again. "Colyn is so going to kill me for this."
"You keep saying that," Kella noted. "Well, I guess you're right in time to hear this."
"Me?" Ronan wondered.
"Yes, you," Warde said irritably.
"Hey, lay off the child of Hades." Xenia said, glaring at Warde.
"I'm not a kid of Hades!" Ronan shouted, exasperated. "Why does every demigod think that?"
"Wait, demigod?" Relyi asked, stepping forward.
"Oh now you've done it," Anete snapped at Ronan, a spear appearing in her hands out of nowhere.
Ronan took a step back, his tail lashing. He melted into the shadows, coming back a second later with his uniform on, his stiygian iron sword at his side.
"Hey, everyone calm down," Kella shouted, stepping between Anete and Ronan. Ronan could see the quiver on her back, even though her bow was still in storage.
"What is going on? Where did that baseball bat come from, and how did you disappear, then change clothes and come back?" Warde asked, looking quite confused. "And when did you pick up backpack?"
Anete and Ronan remained glaring at each other for a moment longer, then they both looked away with a huff.
"I guess we really have to explain now." Titos said, crossing his arms.
"Well, this could pass the remaining," Elyse paused and glanced at her phone. "About thirty minutes."
"Way to look on the bright side, we have something to do while we wait for our friend to come back." Illya said, only slightly sarcastically.
"I have a question, why do you have a baseball bat on your belt, Ronan?" Relyi wondered.
The demigods plus Illya, Elyse, and Ronan, turned to each other and all said at the same time: "the mist."
"What?" Warde asked.
Timeskip: they told Warde and Relyi about the demigod world.
"An hour is up," Elyse said, glancing at her phone.
"I'm going in to get her." Ronan said, standing up, his tail flicking determinedly.
"I'm coming too," Metron said, looking away from the blue prints he'd been examining quietly for the past hour and a half.
"I think that's enough," Ronan said quickly.
"Quests usually have three, so pick one more, but Illya is off the table." Kella reminded him. "And I'm staying here to make sure she remains unhurt."
"Daniel, then." Ronan decided. "Let's go, let's not wait to rescue Emma, or her brother will kill us all."
"Will he actually do that?" Metron asked timidly once they were on the other side of the portal.
"Maybe, he get's really irritated if Emm's hurt." Ronan replied. "I'm going to try and shadow travel to her."
"Wait," Daniel said, taking his hand off Ronan's arm. "If she can't get out, then there's probably some anti-magic stuff around here."
"You're right, let's see if we can get to the nearest group of people." Ronan said, grabbing Daniel's wrist.
"That's a better plan," Metron agreed.
Ronan quickly shadow traveled them to the surface, near a group of people. Ronan pulled a baseball cap out of one of his pockets, having changed clothes along that way, and placed it on, effectively hiding his ears. He wrapped his tail around his waist.
"Hello," Metron said, taking the lead while Ronan mid the fact that he was a shadow Neko.
"Who are you?" A girl asked, a thick British accent evident.
"Um, I'm Metron, this is Daniel, and that is Ronan." Metron replied, pointing to each person in turn.
"Identification please," The girl requested.
"Um, identification?" Daniel questioned.
"Yeah, y'know, your extra genes?" She said it like it was common knowledge that identification was these extra genes.
Metron did the smart thing, and said, "um."
"Oh don't whinge about it," she said, grinning suddenly. "You aren't that's gobsmacked at seeing a girl are you?"
"Um, not really," Ronan said, deciding to join the conversation.
"Well, that's good, I was afraid you'd lost the plot."
The three boys blinked at her, uncomprehendingly. She sighed, facepalming.
"Are you all wankers?" She wondered.
"Nah, they're American." A boy came forward, draping his arm across the girl's shoulders.
"Sod off you big bugger." She snapped, removing his arm and stepping away like he had the plague.
"I have no idea what just happened," Ronan admitted.
"He's been trying to chat up for ages, can't quite get the hint," she replied.
"No idea what you just said. Either way, a friend of ours was captured, we need help getting her back," Metron said, stepping forward.
"Identification first." She replied, tapping her foot. "Come on, we haven't got all day."
Ronan unwrapped his tail from around his waist, taking off his hat as well. "Is this enough identification for you?"
She frowned. "For you, yes. Your friends, no. Are you guys all plonkers?"
"I don't even know if that's an insult or not." Metron complained.
"Hey, Elliot said you needed my help," an adult came running up, slightly out of breath.
"Yeah," she complained. "These wankers are lost the plot."
"Oh, they're Americans that can't figure out what on earth you're saying." The man translated.
She nodded, stepping back a little bit. "They need help, but those two refuse to show any identification, and I've never seen anyone with black cat DNA that manifested like that."
"We aren't exactly from around here." Ronan said apologetically.
"It's fine, let's just help them, shall we Amara?" The man said, "my name is Doctor D, why do you need help?"
"Our friend was captured, we don't know this place well enough, we were hoping you could help." Daniel offered.
He nodded. "Amara, lead them to where they need to go, and assist them in fetching their friend."
"Yes sir," Amara said, turning to them. "I already have my equipment, let's go. First question, is your friend magical."
"Yes, very much so." Ronan replied.
"Okay, how long ago was she captured?"
"About an hour, probably." Metron replied.
"I know just where she is, hope you guys can fight, cause we are going to have to get through a lot of security to get to her." Amara said, trekking ahead.
"I can get us in," Ronan volunteered.
"How?" Amara asked.
"I can teleport, and with the setting sun, we have enough shadows to do it." Ronan answered, Daniel and Metron catching on and taking hold of his arms.
"If you say so," Amara said doubtfully, gingerly laying one finger on his shoulder.
Ronan shadow traveled the four of them about where Emma was.
For one thing, yes, Emma was there, unfortunately, so were a bunch of short people. Amara immediately launched into battle, flinging the tiny people aside as she raced for the cage. Ronan has changed clothes in the travel, and so had his sword with him. Daniel immediately raced for the cage, pulling a lockpick set out of who knows where.
"Oi, these guys are daft cows, all going after me." Amara yelled, grinning madly at Ronan. "Careful, that lock is specificities designed so superpowers won't help you."
"I'm not using superpowers, just keep the short people away from me," Daniel retorted, batting a few tiny gun-sticks aside.
"Hey guys, I was wondering when you'd show up." Emma said, waving at them from her spot on the bed. "Hurry please, Secilia needs me to grab Colyn, then go help her."
"Oh sorry if we aren't fast enough," Ronan replied, slicing the air right over a few of the short people's heads. Most of them went running, as seeing Amara and friends in the same room was not good.
"Done!" Daniel shouted.
"Thanks," Emma said. "You'll have to get them back Ronan, sorry." With that, she disappeared.
