Chapter 16

Out stepped Smitty. He unloaded a gas canister from his trunk and walked over to us, removing his shades.

"Wow Smitty, long time no see." Tyler said bro hugging him.

"Woah, Tyler did you grow or did I shrink."  Smitty chuckled.

"I don't know, I think you might've shrunk." Tyler said in return. Evan came out to greet the man.

"Aye Smitty, how's it going." Evan greeted.

"It's going good, how bout you." Smitty said giving him a hug.

"Eh, it's alright. We're on a mission right now, we'll call you guys if we need help. Be ready." Evan warned. "Anyways thanks for coming all this way."

"It's no big deal." He said walking over to the van. The crew came out one by one and greeted him.

"Where's Delirious?" Smitty asked.
Craig walked up to him and explained what had gone down in the couple days. Smitty looked at the guys, getting frowns from them.
"Oh gosh, guys I'm really sorry. I'll pray for you guys." Smitty said. He put the gas into the gas tank. Once the canister was empty he hugged the group goodbye and left.

They all climbed into the van and started on the road again, listening to oldies and singing along with pretend microphones. It went from Crazy Train to Don't Stop Believing to Can't Help Falling in Love with You. Each song the guys sang their hearts out. Some got up and danced while the car was at a red light. They shared a fit of laughter.

They even got out some cards and started playing Slap Jack and BS. David reached over and pulled out a box of Bud Wieser. The crew took a can of beer from the box and started chugging them. There was no windows in the back, kinda like one of those sketchy white vans that drive through your neighbor at night.

They partied until the stars came up and the moon came out to play. They rested their heads on their palms and looked around the van. The table was full of beer cans and cards. Earlier they had set up a little table for their game of cards and food that they had bought.

The van came to a stop jerking the guys from their minds.
"We're sleeping here tonight boys." Evan said as he opened his door. David opened the side door since he was the closest and jumped out first. The rest came tumbling out of the little white sketchy van. Marcel, the last one out, shut the door. They all stretched their limbs and walked into the Hotel. They got partnered up in rooms. Evan and Marcel, David and Lui, Craig and Tyler, and Brock and Brian. They all said goodnight to each other and separated to their rooms.

~Craig~
Tyler and I sat in awkward silence on the elevator. It felt so weird next to him, alone in an elevator. We haven't had times where it's just us alone, in a while. I honestly miss it. It brings some good memories.
We would always go with each other everywhere. It would feel weird if we didn't. Our whole childhood was just us hanging out at the park or in the woods where we built our first treehouse. I still remember the tree house, we built it a long time ago. And it took ages to make. But once it was done, we never left it. We'd spend nights in it, invite friends over, played video games in it. It was like our area. Where we hang out together. It was our treehouse. That we built together.
But now things were different about us, like a different chemistry. I don't exactly know what it is, whatever it is I kinda enjoy it. It's like a feeling that I haven't really felt yet in my life. It's a warm feeling in my heart, a weird feeling in my stomach. But he's mad at himself, and I'm upset that he's mad. It really upsets me to see a person so close to me be mad or angry at something, especially something that he won't tell me about. He's hiding something. Something big. And I want to find out.

The elevator stopped and the doors opened. We stepped out and walked down the hallway in search of our room. Our room was 3 to the right. He unlocked the door and walked in. I came in after and closed the door.

Two beds sat side by side. The bathroom was to the left, in front of the beds was a stand were a little coffee maker sat with coffee cups, creamer, sugar, napkins and spoons, and the coffee itself.  Next to that was a flatscreened TV with a remote off to the side. To the left of the stand was a dresser to store clothing. But we didn't really need that. To the left of the dresser was a window and a heating and cooling AC. I opened the blinds and looked at the view. It wasn't as spectacular as I thought, but at least it wasn't a brick wall. I plopped on the bed closest to the window. Tyler sat on the other one facing me.

He had his head down while he fingered the remote. He turned the TV on and clicked comedy. I propped myself up in a comfortable position and glared at the TV. It was Step Brothers. Tyler turned up the volume a little but stared at me for a while before speaking.
"Craig." He spoke firmly. I can tell he was serious. "Have you ever felt love towards someone?" My heart jumped a bit. The answer was yes I have, but I'm not ready to tell him.
I only nodded and looked at my hands.
"So you know how it feels." He quized.
I nodded again.
"That's what I'm going through right now." He said. I looked at him. "I don't know what to say to this person that I've been falling in love with. I know they don't like me back." He sighed. "It's hard Craig. You understand right?"

"Yes Tyler, I understand, a lot more than you think." I say. He looks at me for a while taking in my features.

"That's what I was thinking about in the van. All night." Tyler confessed. "It's not a very good time to confess who I like, considering we're going into battle soon. But if we do make it out alive, all of us. I think I'll tell who."  Tyler smiled at me. I returned one.
"I understand, fully." I say.

"Thanks Craig." He said. I smiled warmly at him.

"I'm always here to talk to, remember that." I say. "We also should hang out more often. Just us, alone. Like back then." He nodded then chuckled.

"Yeah, like how we tippied Dawson's house." He said with a smile.

"And how we trashed that one party at Carson's." I say. We both sighed.

"I miss those times." Tyler said.

"Me too." I say smiling like crazy.
"Remember Kirsten?"

"Oh my God, the girl who was obsessed with Delirious?" Tyler asked.

"Yeah, her. It was so fun teasing her. Until she moved to Michigan." I say. "She was like our best girl friend."

"Yeah. Oh the good times." Tyler said giddily.

"I'm glad that we had that little conversation, now our friendship is restored." I say.

"Yah. And thanks Craig, for listening." Tyler said.

"That's what friends are for right?"

~Y/n~

I quickly got up and ran over to Delirious who was gripping his stomach and groaning in pain. I looked around the room furiously for anything to stop the bleeding. A piece of wool rested on an old rusty bucket. I ran over and grasped it. I ran back to his aid. I folded the wool up to the size of the wound and placed it on the wound. I told him to apply pressure.
I scratched at my shirt, digging my nails into it before ripping my shirt, all the way around. I stretched out the torn cloth and wrapped it around his stomach once and tyed it tightly at his back.
He pointed to my arm.
"I'm fine, I'm worrying more about you." I say.

"You're bleeding." He responded.

"I'll deal with it later." I say. He kept applying pressure. I pecked his forehead and rested my head on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have dragged you out with me that night." He apologized.

"It's okay, I enjoyed it while it lasted." I said.

"I really care about you Y/n, I'll take a bullet for you any day. I'll die for you Y/n." He said. "I'll do anything to keep you safe. Even if it involves me getting hurt, I'll smile because you're safe."

I smiled and kissed his hair.
"I'd do the same." I reply.

Jordan walked in with a man by the collar.
"I have one of your men." She said before throwing him to the ground. He looked up. We gasped.
