Chapter 66
Jungkook PoV
Christmas day.
I poked her cheek as I woke up.
"Quit," she says in English, still fast asleep.
I smiled and poked her again.
Now she touches my hand, "Quit it."
"Wake-up, we have a lot of things to do," I tell her.
She groaned.
I sit up and got off the bed. Then I walk to the curtains and open them, walk back to her and I lifted her up. She groaned and rubbed her eyes.
The 3 of us are tired from yesterday's ski trip. For some reason, though, I feel energetic and excited for Christmas Day.
Chaeyoung and I stayed up until 12 midnight and waited for this day, and obviously, mistletoes have rules, right? Anyway, we talked about random things.
From favorites to least favorite, first kisses and first dates, first relationships, travel bucket-lists, what type of food we like and a lot more. It only started to get serious when we were talking about Jiyoon and the future.
'Stay' was what I always begged last night.
Stay for the 3 of us.
She said she has no reason not to say no. And it just made my Christmas happier.
That's a yes, then.
"Jungkook, just 10 more minutes!" she complained.
"Fast talk," I said. "Orange, avocados."
"Orange."
"Pink, blue."
"Pink."
"Left, right."
"Left."
"Water, apple juice."
"Apple juice."
"Minutes, seconds."
"Seconds."
Then I shrug, "Okay, 10 seconds to sleep!"
Her eyes widened, "NO! I MEAN MINUTES!! I SAID, MINUTES!!!"
"10, 9, 8---" I look at my watch.
She stood up from the bed, "I'm up, I'm up."
"I'll cook breakfast, and you get Jiyoon to wake up?"
"No need, I woke up at like 6 and ordered for a room service," she said. "It's probably outside already. Eat ahead and I'll wake her up."
"You already ordered it, then I'll come with you to wake her up."
"Ani--"
I put my hands on her shoulder, "Chae, babe, please?"
"I hate your puppy eyes--"
"Doe eyes"
"Puppy."
"Doe."
Then our room's door opened, our heads looked at the direction.
Jiyoon stood at the door, wearing her pajamas and winter socks, carrying her small ice bear stuffed animal, then wearing a matching cone hat with her pajamas.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!" she yelled.
She ran up the bed and bounced up and down. After that Chaeyoung got her to go closer and she straighten out the creases on Jiyoon's pajamas.
"Merry Christmas, mommy!!!" she hugged Chaeyoung and smiled. "I love, love, love, love, love, love my gift!"
Chaeyoung kissed her, "Show it to daddy."
"Appa, look!!! Mom bought me that Disney Exhibits Tickets!!" Jiyoon showed me.
I looked at amaze, "Wow! I'm sure your mom earned well for that. Both of you enjoy that back in Seoul."
I looked at Chaeyoung who asked me if I can still find tickets for that sold-out exhibit tickets. But fine, give her some credit, the Japan Vacation Gift is still the best.
"How about your appa's gift to you, sweetie?" Chaeyoung asked her.
Jiyoon only giggles, "Everyday is Christmas with appa."
"You sure, sunshine?" I asked and got a small box from my hand-carry bag.
I walked to Jiyoon and put on a necklace on her. It's my grandmother's, she didn't want to give it to my mother. Basically, the color of the Jeon Foundation's emblem is brownish-orange with a specialized emblem drawing.
Same thing goes to the necklace.
"A sign that you're my kid, an heir to the company, future artist," I ruffled her hair. "That is a sign that you are acprim and proper young lady, under the name of the Jeons."
"Woah, it's really pretty," she says.
"Wear it always, okay?"
Chaeyoung rolled her eyes, "And don't loose it, bet that's more expensive than mom's job."
"Don't listen to her, I can always pay, Jiyoon," I winked.
Chaeyoung slapped my shoulder then I laughed. I brought Jiyoon down the bed and asked her to eat breakfast ahead of us since I wanted to do, you know, a little charms on Chaeyoung.
She grabbed her cardigan from the closet and wore her hair in a ponytail. I stare at her as if it was the last even if it's just the beginning.
I know, it's corny.
Before we left for Japan, Jihyo-noona told me that her parent's are asking her to go back to Australia for a visit. I kind of am bummed that she's gonna leave for a vacation but it's only temporary.
The room's door open and Chaeyoung left it opened wide, and bumped into the stopper. I smiled and grabbed that tiny Christmas present I bought for her a while back.
It wasn't meant to be a Christmas present but then with all the issues, ups and downs, the supposedly no-biggy problem, it became one.
I put it in the pocket of my shorts.
When I walked out, Jiyoon was putting maple syrup on her buttered pancakes while Chaeyoung was looking for something in the hotel room's kitchen. I sit down on the head chair, which is right next to Jiyoon.
I helped her cut some of the sausages and helped her eat the noodles since she can't finish them. I placed a small something under the coffee cup of Chaeyoung and made sure the head faced towards her.
A lot of carats and money on that.
But okay.
"Appa, I'm so full," Jiyoon complained.
"Learn to finish your food," I said and sliced a piece of an omelet.
Chaeyoung sits down next to me, and in across Jiyoon. She pouts as she sees Jiyoon looking at her, her eyes saying that she can't finish her food.
"Next time, only get the food you finish and not all," she scolded her. "You'll be wasting food, try finishing it."
"But I really can't."
"Jeo-"
"It's okay, it's okay, go toothbrush, and then you can watch the television," I said, grabbing Jiyoon's unfinished pancake. "But next time you don't finish your food, we're not going back to Sapporo again, understood?"
Jiyoon nods and goes back to her room.
I continued eating and finishing Jiyoon's pancake.
But I noticed that she seemed uneasy. Like there's something bothering Chaeyoung. So I put down my fork when I finished eating and looked at her.
"Why don't you eat?" I asked. "You ordered the breakfast."
"Nothing, I feel..uneasy?"
"Maybe your bloated."
She lightly punched my arm and I chuckled.
She quickly shook her head, "I mean, there's this feeling of butterflies in my stomach."
I nodded, "Ooh. How come?"
"It probably has something to do with you."
"How did I get into you and your stomach?"
"Jungkook, there was a night."
"But, I didn't it hit your stomach that night. Yeah sure, I was in you but that didn't hit your stomach."
She blushed red, "Okay, fine. I can't win against you."
"Of course you can win against me, not inside a hotel room, apartment or whatever that has something so I can be a lovey-dovey to you."
"You're so weird today."
I shook my head slowly and chuckled, "Nothing, nothing. It just feels like a happy day. By the way, when will you tell me that you had resignation papers processed in the hospital?"
"Oh, that..." she trailed off.
"Namjoon-hyung messaged me before I slept last night, didn't want to bother you sleeping. Explanation, please?"
She exhaled, "Okay. So, your dad had lunch with us, remember that? When I told him about you asking me to leave the hospital, he said it's because I'm gonna have more opportunities if I do it. Like you know, I can probably run my own clinic, which, I've been dying to do so. I do love the hospital, but if I want to be with you then I should sacrifice a little. You know, for us."
I smiled in one side and bumped her cheek with my fist, lightly.
"You don't have to resign, if you want," I tell her.
"I do want to. Your gonna be busier next year and if I'm still a surgeon then that means I'm in the hospital 24/7. No one's gonna take care of Jiyoon."
I nodded, "If that's what you want, I'd support you."
She smiled but then stopped smiling when she held her mug, "What is with this cup? It really feels une-oh, my.."
I sipped my coffee.
Her eyes widened, her hands were covering her mouth.
"You like it?" I asked her.
Chaeyoung looked at me and slowly nodded then looked back at the ring. I smiled and grabbed the ring, and I bent down to one knee.
"Park Chaeyoung," I grabbed her right hand. "It's not a romantic scenery or dinner or anything fancy. But I wanted to you to know, even though we've only met for months, it feels like I've known you for years. The problems we've had, the fights we've went through, the long distances. You are the doctor who healed me from my problems and pain of the past. Even if we still are unsure about us, I want you to know, I love you very much and you defined love for me. You've shown me the reason to love again, the reason to not give up on love."
She started to tear up.
I smiled and kissed her hand.
"Roseanne Park, will you marry me?"
