Chapter 46

Author PoV

Hand in hand, they walked together. Full with smiles, and joy. Like the past didn't even bother them.

She was so happy, he was so happy.

But not everyone is happy.

In one of the biggest houses in Busan, Jungkook sits on the bench in his grandmother's garden. The sun started to set and he told his driver to go back to Seoul.

He decided to stay away from Seoul for a while.

His cellphone was turned off, no one can reach him. What he did to let everybody know that he's fine, was telling his driver to tell Il-Do he's in Busan.

That's the only news he wants to say.

Jungkook sat there and thought for a while. What is it he needs to do? What does he have to do? All he knew was, both of them were going on the right path. Where both of them would lead to happy endings.

So where did it go wrong? Where in the plans he made to be with her go wrong?

A woman in the age of 80s sat beside Jungkook, and another woman, wearing a white and blue uniform pushed a trolly then quickly left the 2 behind.

"Want some tea, grandson?" his grandmother asked.

He simply shook his head.

"I heard you became the new President of our company. You're going to do well, my boy! For sure if your grandfather were still alive, he would be really, really proud. Both for you and Il-Do," she happily said but none seem to make him smile.

As she was very close to her grandchildren, she was obviously worried.

When Jungkook was young, his father wanted him to read, read, and read. Learn, learn and learn. But he also had free time because Il-Do would beg their father so Jungkook can go and play.

During the summer, Jungkook, Seunghan and Il-Do would stay in Busan and play in the beach, go to the market with their grandmother and many more. In the afternoon, Jungkook and Il-Do would be taught English and Math lessons while Seunghan would having his treatment.

Maybe he's forgotten of the good days, and only remembers the time where he would be told to study and read books. In fact, there were so many happy memories he might've forgotten.

She looked at him, with worried eyes, "Now that you're president, you've come to visit. It's been 2 years since you visited me here. After your grandfather died, this big mansion became 3 times bigger and quieter."

"Mianhae, halmeoni," was all he could say.

"I don't want to talk about family problems, that's stressing me out," she laughed by herself. "What I want to talk about, is why my youngest grandson is here in Busan when he should be taking care of the family business in Seoul?"

He couldn't answer.

That's right.

It was immature of him to just runaway all of a sudden.

But then he needed it.

It's already too much to handle.

"I guess...it's because there's a lot in my head, lately," he replied.

She patted his back, "Go on, halmeoni is going to listen."

He turned to her direction, "Remember Yuri, halmeoni?"

She nodded.

"There's this girl who's just like her, except that she's better. She's a neurosurgeon, by the way. And she's really pretty, smart and outgoing. She also has a 5 year old daughter, her friends are also my friends in school or under the company's help. Except that..." he stopped. "Except that..she doesn't want to be with me."

"Oh, Jungkook," his grandmother laughed. "A neurosurgeon? My, who have you been falling for these days?"

"Her name's Park Chaeyoung. Her real name is Roseanne Park."

"I've heard," she nodded. "From your brother of course."

He slouched, "That's fair. It's okay, she doesn't want to be with me, anyway."

Jungkook and his grandmother sat their for 2 more hours, just talking and talking.

It doesn't seem like it but Jungkook is really talkative. They would go from one topic to another and another topic to another topic.

That's what Jungkook needed, some support and help. Unlike in Seoul, where everybody knows who he is, here in Busan, he can walk around the streets without bodyguards following him.

Meanwhile, in Seoul, Chaeyoung sat on her kitchen counter's chair.

Full with smiles.

Not knowing that the other is somewhere far from her, broken and hurt.

Today, she and Junhoe talked about what they've been into for the past 5 years. The whole day, they were outside together. Jennie texted her hours ago, that she wanted Jiyoon to stay with her for tonight.

She opened her phone and found out that it's already midnight. Then she typed Jungkook's name on the call bar.

"The number you have dialed is busy at the moment, please try your call later."

She looked at her phone, in confusion.

"I wanted to talk," she pouted.

As she stood up from her chair to get water from the fridge, someone knocked on her door. Maybe it's Jennie, bringing Jiyoon and checking up on Chaeyoung. Or Lisa coming here because she and Bambam had a fight.

But when she opened the door, Jungkook's assistant, Rachel, stood there. Looking at Chaeyoung seriously.

"Rachel! You scared me!" she shouted in shock.

Rachel formed a little smile, "My bad, Ms. Park. Sorry for not telling you sooner that I'd be here."

"No, no, it's fine. Come in, come in."

Rachel entered the house and stood there awkwardly. Chaeyoung asked her to sit down on the couch, and she did.

They both looked at each other, Rachel examining Chaeyoung up and down and left and right.

"So," Chaeyoung started. "What brings you here?"

"Right, right, I'm here doing my job," Rachel says.

"What do you mean?"

"I've been Sir Jeon's assistant/secretary for the past 2 or 3 years, and this is just a minor thing to do as part of my job description."

But Chaeyoung didn't understand.

It's like today, she's a dumb person. Not the person who submitted her Science Investigatory Project to the international level, or the person who topped a national exam.

Rachel sighed, "Sir Jeon is missing, and we are trying our very best to identify where he is."

Chaeyoung didn't understand, still.

"What do you mean?" she laughed. "Jungkook isn't like that."

"Ms. Park, just so you know, Sir Jeon is the number 1 priority of this company. He has done well while his father was in the States for medication, thus making him highly respected in our company," Rachel said. "Him missing is a rescue mission. Not to mention, Cole is still investigating under Sir Jeon's orders."

She did not say a word.

"His driver hasn't arrived anywhere near Seoul, yet. We're trying our best to locate him," she stood up. "That's all, Ms. Park. I'll take my leave,"

"W-Wait.." Chaeyoung stood up as well. "I don't think Jungkook has gone farther than Seoul."

Rachel smiled, sarcastically, "He has access to airplanes, Ms. Park. He can go as far as Europe and not let anybody know where he is."

As Rachel stepped out of the house, she sighed heavily. She dragged her body inside her car and sighed once more, this time out of frustration.

"He's in Busan, for God's sake, what's happened to her?" she annoyingly asked.
