I'm Always There For You, Pal. Pt2

A/N: I kinda based it off of a comic I saw. The comic is above👆

Bucky's POV

Me and Steve were fighting some Hydra soldiers and it was surprisingly difficult. Though we managed to defeat them anyway. I look over at Steve and see a deep gash on his abdomen.

"Steve, you okay there, Pal?" I asked a little concerned.

"Yeah...I'm alright. Just need to wrap it up and I'll be good." Steve replied.

"Okay...if you say so." I said.

Steve wraps his wound then we head back to base. When we get there, Steve heads off to his room. I'm not so sure he should ignore that wound. But what am I gonna do? Steve's one of the most thick-headed guys I've met. Later, I walk into the kitchen the same time as Steve does. He looks pale and dazed.

"Steve, are you absolutely sure you're okay? You don't look so hot." I sighed knowing he's probably got some sort of infection from that wound.

"Well...I-I do feel a little light headed." Steve mumbled swaying a little.

"*sigh* Then sit down, ya big idiot." I said walking towards Steve.

Steve pulls up a chair and sits in it. As I get a closer look, I notice just how badly he looks. He looks kinda feverish, so I feel his forehead.

"Bucky, I'm fine." Steve grumbled pushing my hand away.

"You're not fine, Steve! Quit being such a stubborn a**! You have a fever!" I scolded him.

"Now, let me take a look at that wound." I said calmer.

Steve lifts his shirt and I unbandage his abdomen. I was right, it is infected. It looked awful: all red and blotchy, with icky white-ish/green puss; it even had a disgusting rotten smell. I begin to worry when Steve almost falls out of the chair. But, I catch him before he does.

"Woah, Steve. Don't pass out on me." I said.

I help him get to the infirmary and lay him on a bed. I cleaned his wound then rebandaged it. I then grab a cold-pack and put it on Steve's head to bring his fever down. For his fever, I also give him medicine.

"Bucky, I can...I-I can...t-take care...o-o...of m-myself." Steve mumbled feverishly.

"Nah, ya can't, Steve. You suck at it." I said covering him with a few blankets.

My friend is now semi-conscious and breathing heavily. God I hate it when Steve is like this; so weak and miserable. I sit beside him and watch over him.

"You better turn out okay, Stevie. Or else I'll kick your a**." I said as I held my best friend's hand.

Hours go by and his temperature goes up even higher. At this point, my mind is thinking the worst possible outcomes and I start freaking out, scared that Steve might die. So, I call Shuri and she comes over and gives Steve some stronger medication while assuring me that he'll be fine.

"You sure this stuff will help him?" I asked her.

"Yes, sargent Barnes, this will help to bring his fever down quickly. It will also help with the infection. Trust me, captain Rogers is no ways near death." Shuri explained to me.

I sighed relieved; Steve is so definitely going to get an earful for scaring me this badly. The next day, Steve finally wakes up.

"Steve, how ya feeling?" I asked him.

"Better, but still a little weak." Steve answered.

"Good." I said.

I punched his shoulder. Steve looks at me shocked and confused.

"W-what was that for?" he asked.

"For scaring me! Steve, I thought you were gonna die! H*ll...y-you could've!" I yelled.

"I'm sorry, Buck." Steve said hanging his head ashamed.

"Steve, you can't just ignore injuries like that. You gotta treat them as if they're serious. If you don't, this happens." I said putting my hand on his shoulder.

"You're right." Steve said.

"I'm always right, ya big idiot." I said.

"Since I'm a little better now, you don't have to stay here and take care of me." said Steve.

"Nuh-uh. I'm not going anywhere until you're in 100% perfect health." I argued.

"Cause ya know why?" I asked.

"Cause you're always there for me." Steve replied.

"Yep, until the end of the line, Pal." I said.

It takes about a week and a half for the infection to go away, but we didn't run into any serious problems like the first day. Thank God for that; I'm not sure if I can take anymore close calls. Steve just has to stop being such a dumb a**.
