🔮Chapter 5: Questions🔮
~~~~~~~~~Your POV~~~~~~~~~
I hadn't left the room I was in for about a week. I was still really bothered by what happened between Mother and I, and even though I was frightened about the whole situation, I was glad that these people took me in. They were all kind to me.
Mabel would keep me lots of company. We'd chat for hours without end. She had a lot of interesting stories to tell, and she was really funny! She also introduced me to her pig Waddles who was the cutest thing ever!
Sometimes she'd bring a guy who was in his mid twenties and a girl who had recently started college.
The guy's nickname was Soos. He owned the work place on the first floor called the Mystery Shack. He was really nice to me, and we'd chat about random things. He was a... very interesting individual, to say the least.
Then there was the girl named Wendy, who was a young college girl who comes during the summer to visit her family and works here for extra money. She's honestly a really cool person to hang with.
The last person was Dipper. He was kind of quiet, but spoke when needed. He would visit me rarely, most of the time Mabel would drag him up. But when he did, he wouldn't say much, though I could tell her was a good person.
Mabel told me I'd still be in the woods if it weren't for him.
At the time, I was on the bed. I was supposed to be napping, but I couldn't fall asleep. I heard a soft knock, making me jump a bit. "C-come in..."
Dipper opened the door holding a (whatever you like in a sandwich) sandwich and a glass of water. "Um, hey..."
"Hey..."
"Mind if I come in...?" he asked, a small smile on his face.
I smiled back. "Not at all..."
He walked in, placing the food on the nightstand and sitting on the edge of his bed. I gladly took the food, and we stayed in silence for a few minutes before her took a deep breath. "Listen, I... I would like to ask you a few questions, if it's ok with you..."
I was a bit confused, but a part of me told me to agree. "Uh, sure..."
"That day we first bumped into you, what were you doing in that part of the woods...?" He asked with a serious tone.
I felt my blood run a bit cold. It was common knowledge that part of the woods was incredibly dangerous since a lot of monsters lived nearby.
But then again, I'm a monster myself. I lived nearby.
"I uh..." I stumbled on my words, looking for what to say. "I was making my way home..."
I'm technically not lying.
But he didn't seem to believe me. "Making your way home...?"
"It's a shortcut..." I responded.
"Hm..." was all he said.
We stayed in some more silence, but I could tell there was something else in his mind. I could sense it. "If you have another question, don't be afraid to ask..."
He got startled a bit, but looked at me for permission. "Well... I wanted to ask who your family was exactly..."
I tended up at what he said. He noticed the tension, making him rub his neck a bit embarrassed. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to..."
I stayed silent for a few seconds before looking down. "Let's just say they're... out of the ordinary..."
"What do you mean...?" he asked. By the softness of his voice, I could tell he was quite worried.
I thought for a moment, thinking of how to explain. "Well... I used to live with my mother. And all she cares about is... how do I put it...? Status, in a way..."
"Are you by any chance related to the Northwests...?" he asked.
I shook my head. "No, but I can see why you asked." I said with a soft chuckle which made him smile a bit. "I also have an older sister, but she's in a special school far away from here..."
"Must've been tough..." he added.
I shrugged. "I manage... But I don't think either of them really cared about me... The only one who's ever been there for me is my uncle..."
I thought for a moment, Bill was probably worried about me...
I looked at Dipper. "Anyways, I want to thank you... about everything... You've all been so nice to me...!"
He smiled back. "It's the least we could do..."
"DIPPER, CAN YOU COME DOWN A SEC?" we heard Mabel's voice from downstairs.
Dipper stood up with a sigh. "I should go... See ya..."
"Bye..." I gave a small wave. He waved back as he walked to the door, leaving after.
I had to admit, this place felt a lot more like a home than my old house...
