🔮Chapter 4: Lost and Found🔮

~~~~~~~~~Dipper's POV~~~~~~~~~
Grunkle Stan had taken us to have breakfast at Greasy's Diner. We were at a booth, and he was by the counter talking with Lazy Susan. A thought wouldn't leave my mind: the girl from a few days. Why was she in the forest alone? And why had I never seen her before? I practically knew everyone in Gravity Falls.
Out the window and into the woods, a faint yellow glow caught my eye. Mabel must've seen if too, for she looked at me with curiosity and excitement. We went over to Stan, telling him we were going to the forest, and with that we left.
"What do you think that was? An explosion?" she asked as we walked in.
I shook my head. "No, we would've heard it."
She shrugged. "A tiny explosion?"
"Then we wouldn't have seen it." I replied.
Deeper in the woods, we saw a faint (f/c) glow. We ran over, and underneath a tree was a sight I didn't expect to see: the girl from a few days ago was there, her arms and hair covered half her face as she laid down.
My eyes widened at the sight and I immediately ran over, Mabel following behind. The girl was sleeping; her eyes were red and puffy, as if she'd bring crying, and I could tell she hadn't eaten in a while.
"Do you think she's the cause of the glow...?" Mabel asked worriedly.
"Even if not, she needs help." I walked over and picked her up. "C'mon, let's go home."
We walked to the shack. Luckily, Soos and Melody were working, Ford was down in the basement, and Stan wasn't home yet. We went up to our room, gently placing the girl on my bed since Mabel's was... not in the best conditions.
I could tell Mabel was really worried, and to be honest, so was I. We only saw her a few days ago, and she seemed to be in healthy conditions, but now that wasn't the case.
We called Ford. Surprisingly, he actually knows a lot about medicine. "She hasn't eaten in a while, but she'll be alright." he explained.
"Will she wake up soon...?" asked Mabel, hugging herself for comfort.
"She should wake up later today, tomorrow morning at the most."
"Thanks, Grunkle Ford." she smiled. With that, he left.
...
...
It had been a few hours. Mabel and I would take turns to watch over the girl and see if she woke up. At the time, it was Mabel's turn, and I was downstairs reading a book.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps rushing downstairs. "Dipper!!!" yelled Mabel, now downstairs.
"What is it?"
"You have to come up, now!!!" She started tugging on my arm. I quickly got up and followed her to our room. I heard a soft groan and realized that the girl was waking up.
She slowly sat up, gripping her head as she groaned. Once her eyes landed on us, they widened in nervousness. She backed away a bit until Mabel spoke. "It's ok, it's alright, we're not gonna hurt you...!"
She stayed silent before hugging herself. "Do you remember us...?" asked Mabel. "We met a few days ago when you were attacked by the ogre...!"
The girl nodded softly and tightened her grip around her own stomach, it grumbled loudly. "Oh, you must be starving! Don't worry, I already made you something!" Mabel ran downstairs.
Shortly after, Mabel came back up with a sandwich and some water. "I don't know what you like but I hope this will do." She offered the food to the girl who nervously took it and began to eat.
Mabel stayed beside her while I leaned against the wall nearby. "So... we never caught your name that day." Mabel asked after a while of silence.
The girl stayed silence for a bit. Then swallowed a bite. "(y-y/n)... My name is (y/n)..."
Finally, I spoke. "What were you doing out in the forest alone? If you don't mind me asking..."
She tightened her grip on her food before taking a deep breath. "I-I... was kicked out of my home..."
"I'm so sorry, (y/n)..." said Mabel, gently hugging (y/n) who flinched a bit, but quickly relaxed.
"I-it's alright... It wasn't your fault..." she responded.
Mabel stayed silent before her eyes widened in joy. "You could stay with us!"
(y/n) looked at her a bit puzzled and surprised, then looked at me as if asking for permission. I sighed, she did need a place to stay. "I'm sure the others won't mind."
A small and warm smile slowly grew on her face, and I felt my cheeks it up. I quickly shook my head. Mabel squealed and hugged her, catching her a bit by surprise. (y/n) chuckled lightly.
"Well, we'll leave you alone to rest." I said, Mabel stood up at my words and we both left.
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
