Chapter 13.
I woke up this morning in enough time to turn my alarm clock off before it even rang. The sound of rain out instantly assured me to keep my hair down. It was silent downstairs as I went to the bathroom to shower. The steam warming me up and filling me with energy.
I made it back into my room with a towel around my body, putting on a record and lighting a cigarette.
Today was the day Stu and I let the other guys know about our relationship. What would they think? I knew Stu and John were pretty close. Would he have told him already?
Being in a relationship changes things. I mean even though I knew the guys already.....it was still a little nerve wracking, I mean will they think of me differently? Now I was just Stu's girl. It wasn't a bad thing. It was just a little different. I always tend to over think things.
I put my uniform on, neatly brushed my hair and applied makeup. Looking at myself in the mirror, I felt happy with my appearance and grabbed my umbrella.
..
Work was a drag for the time being. Tiffany didn't show again which left me alone until eleven thirty. I told my boss I had a family thing I had to attend to. I walked back home and dressed for Stuart. Jeans, white top, leather jacket over. My red heels. Perfume. I walked downstairs and saw Sarah walk in through the front door, closing her umbrella. I bit my lip when she saw me.
"Oh hello Molly. I thought you had work." She smiled.
"I do...I mean I did. Got off early. But um, I can use your help." I smiled.
...
Sarah drove me to the art college so I wouldn't get wet. I thanked her and was happy to see Stuarts vehicle parked across the street.
When I entered, the bell overhead rang, sending students everywhere. I walked along the crowded hall and recognized his back. It's funny how only when you know someone or really like them, you can recognize them from afar. He was alone, carrying a canvas, messenger bag around his body. A blank expression on his face. I poked his back and he turned around, giving me a smile that lit up his face.
"Hi." I smiled.
"You found it. I'm so glad you came by." He held my hand as we walked together. His dark clothing matching mine. I noticed his hair was styled into a quiff. Sunglasses on his head. He looked rediculously sexy. It was a shock to me as to why he was single all this time. But when I noticed all the girls around here looking neatly groomed, I understood.
"How's your day?" I asked. He sighed.
"Fuckin tiring. I just need to drop this off in life class and we can be on our way."
I nodded as we entered a classroom. It was wide. The floor messy with smeared paint. Easles and stools everywhere. He smiled when he saw my look of wonder.
"I usually sit over there by the window. It helps to get a sense of light. John usually sits beside me."
"Can I see?" I asked, pointing to the large painting he had in his hands. He nodded and faced me, holding it up. I couldn't help but to blush. It was two holding hands. One obviously a girls, the other a boys. Fingers intertwined. The black and whie giving it a beautiful view. The only thing in colour was the girls's fingernails. Red. Like mine.
"It's beautiful Stu. I love it." I brushed my finger over it. He set it down and leaned in, kissing me. I smiled against his lips and pulled back.
"Come on, the lads are probably down in the canteen already." He set his painting beside a few others, grabbing a tag and wrote his name on it.
"What's that for?" I asked.
"I'm including this in my paintings for the art show. It's this Saturday."
"I still have the ticket. I'll be ther for sure."
He smiled and grabbed my hand again, leading me out of the room. We walked along the halls making small talk.
"I was talking with Sarah last night and...I'm thinking of photography."
He looked at me. "Yeah? You know um...they have a great photography class here."
"Do they now?"
"Yeah. If you're interested in starting somehwere." He finished. I squeezed his hand as we entered the cafeteria. It was a bit wide. People coming in and out. I could hear familiar voices singing Buddy Holly.
As we walked over to the small group all eyes were on us when they saw Stu and I hand in hand. He handed me a cola and sat us down at a small table in the back. My eyes meeting with George's. He continued on and soon the song ended.
John was the first to walk over. Cigarette between his lips, greased hair. Cocky grin on his face. "So, is this what's goin on now?"
Stu smiled. "I asked her to be my girl two evenings ago. So, here we are."
"About bloody time ye found yourself a bird! I was beginning to wonder about you son. He's always got the pouty, flat look on him. Like he's in another world."
"I do not." He defended.
"Whatever you say Sutcliffe. So, how close are you two in the relationship already? Ye get it in?" John wiggled his eyebrows. I laughed as Stu rolled his eyes.
"Fuck off Lennon."
I noticed Paul was in his own world, tuning his guitar.
"What's wrong with Paul?" I asked.
John looked over and rolled his eyes. "He's sulking. You know your friend Tiff? He's fallen."
"She's been gone from work. I hope she's alright." I sighed.
George walked over and grabbed a cigarette from the pack on the table. John lit it for him. "It's nice to see ye Moll." He smiled. "I um, saw your father leave this morning. You two gettin along?"
I shrugged. "Somewhat. Here." I said, handing him my blue journal. He smiled.
"You remembered."
"I always do. To keep you up to date."
He kissed my cheek. "I'm glad you found yourself a decent bloke. Peter was..."
"No more Peter." I smiled.
"No more Peter. I should get back. Bye Moll."
"Bye." I waved. John sat across from us and set his guitar down.
"So Sutcliffe, let's talk about us gettin you with the acoustic." John put his cigarette out. Stu groaned.
"I'm not a musician Lennon. I'm an artist."
"Oh come on. You can learn! Everyone starts off not knowin a chord."
"It's not my interest John. I wouldn't feel right."
I watched John sigh and sit back in his seat.
"John! Were off out! See ye later yeah?" Paul shouted, carrying his guitar around his shoulder. John waved and nodded. George and Paul leaving.
"You have a gig later?" I asked.
"Not tonight. But we were plannin on goin down to the pub down the street. You both comin?" John asked hopeful. I looked at Stu. He shrugged. I squeezed his arm and smiled.
"We'd love to. What time?"
"Seven. We can share a table yeah?"
I smiled and nodded.
"Look I gotta get off out of here with Cyn. See you two later?" John stood up.
"Yeah. See ye later." Stu said, taking a drink of his soda. John left us alone. I looked at Stu as his serious tone softened when he noticed me watching him.
"You're such a hard one to get through Sutcliffe. You need to relax a bit more." I kissed his jawline.
"I'm just a bit tired today. I got a fuckin headache."
I stood up and moved behind him, massaging the sides of his head. He hummed.
"That feels amazing love. You know, I was thinking we could get out of here and go back to mine and take a nap." He said slowly.
"Okay. Stuart?"
"Hmm?"
"Would you mind it if...If I was interested in applying here?" I asked. He looked at me and smiled.
"I'd love that. We could spend more time together and I could see you between classes." He pulled me into his lap, making me giggle as he gave me a deep kiss.
...
The deep kiss seemed to be a routine with Stu. Especially when he drove us to his place. Back to his matress.
I moaned louder, my body shaking as I came. He panted and slowed down, rolling off of me, then on his back. I curled in his arms and rested my head on his chest as he pulled the blankets over us. I closed my eyes.
"I love you Molly." He said for the very first time.
My eyes fluttered open. His words echoeing through my mind. His hand found mine.
"I love you too Stuart."
He kissed the top of my head and held me tight as we napped the rest of the afternoon.
