I was running late today. School starts at eight am. It was now seven fifty-five.... Alex smiles and waves as i run out of the house.

I ran into first period a minute late, now you think that wouldn't be such a big deal... but it is.

I got three hours detention after school.

I groaned and sat in my seat. About twenty minutes later Alfred ran in. "Sorry I'm late! My mom trashed my alarm..."

"Alfred Franklin Jones... one hour detention after school," Mr. Aberdeen said.

Alfred sighed and sat down. The teacher began teaching

What the hell!?! How is it he can be twenty minutes late and only get an hour but I'm a minute late and get three bloody hours!?!

Alfred was quietly working on the notes. I sighed, knowing most of this already.

When the bell finally rang for second period, i bolted out of the room and into English.

Mrs. Joanna smiled and handed me a book, Night by Elie Weasel...

"We're reading this today, chapters one through three."

I nod and took my seat and began reading.

Anastasia walks in, "i apologize for interrupting, but i need Arthur Kirkland in the office please," she said.

The teacher nodded.

I stood and left the room.

Anastasia smiled at me, "i know what you are Angel."

I froze, "h-how?" I ask.

"Two things, one, i saw your eyes. Two... i saw what you did to Allen. Now i don't care that he's gone, but his family does. You need to be careful. The others are more powerful than Allen could ever dream of being. Warn your family of Oliver and Francois. Matt will most likely not care. And I'll be watching you while at school to make sure nothing else happens to you."

"How do you know about all this?"

"I'm a mermaid. Matt is werewolf. Oliver and Francois are Demons like Allen. Many of our kind hide in plain sight to have normal lives."

"I thought mermaids lived in water?"

"We do. But we can walk on land as well."

"Interesting, but why?"

"Many reasons. One is that we like seeing how things are different here."

I nodded.

"Also, many of us have a hard time finding a mate. So we look on land," she says.

"I see. How's that going?"

"Not so good for me. My sister however is having a much easier time. She's with a demon boy named Matt."

I smile a bit, "well good for her, I hope she is happy "

"Thank you. And she is I believe."

The two of us talked for a while before I had to return to class.

Alfred sat beside me, "so what did Ms. Perfect want?"

"Its none of your business"

He pouts, "I was only curious."

I blush a bit and look away from him, he was just way too cute with that pout on his face.

Alfred sighed and walked over to his jock friends.

One started to talk about Allen. 

"Yeah, he just up and vanished last night, Matt is losing his mind," he says as he looks at his friend.

"Good riddance, that guy was a jerk anyway."

I suddenly felt bad. I knew his brother would be worried. Matt Williams was not as bad as Allen was, but he preferred to stay silent most of the time rather than pick fights.

Ana must have noticed my look, she smiled sadly, "Hey, you did the right thing, and Allen will be ok. he's just with his dad."

"I thought he was dead?" 

"No, you can't kill a demon or angel. you merely sent him home."

I nod and sigh softly, "I should head to back to class," i say.

She nods and smiles, "Alright, and have fun in detention," she says as she leaves. 

I groan and head back to my class.

The rest of the day passed without much incident. When i arrived for detention, Alfred was already sitting there and looking at a paper of some kind. 

I sat as far away from him as i could, i was still mad that he'd managed to only get an hour of detention and missing half of the class where I was only a minute late get three.

He smiled at me and moved to sit by me. 

I groaned and looked at him. "What?"

"Can you help me? I can figure this homework out," he says.

I sigh and look at the paper. I help him with the graphs and such. Before i knew it half an hour had passed. 

He smiled, "Thanks! I appreciate it," he says as he smiles. 

I just roll my eyes and look up at the ceiling. 

He pouts a bit.

The teacher walks in finally, "Get out, both of you" he says.

I sigh in relief and pick up my book bag, "See you tomorrow then." I say as i walk out. 

I start to walk home. Alfred was walking beside me. 

"Are you following me?" i ask as i look at him.

"No, i just wanna walk with ya," he says.

I sigh softly and huff as i walk towards my house. 

When i walk in I am tackle hugged by Alex. 

"You little jerk! Making me worry about you like that! You should have called me!" She whined.

"Alex, calm the hell down," Alistair said calmly and walked over. "Who's your friend?" He asks as he looks at Alfred.

Alfred smiles. "I walked him home since it was getting dark out," he says.

Alex looked at him and stood. She was shorter than him. She tilted her head to the side in curiosity. She smiles, "why don't you come in? I just finished dinner," she says.

"That would be nice ma'am" he says with a smile.

"Just call me Alex. Everyone else does." She says and walks to the kitchen.

Alex motioned to me to follow her, I did so. Once in the kitchen she looked over to me, "odd friend you have there. I've never seen a vamp with such a pure heart."
