Rio's POV
   He'll be okay he better be okay. He promised me he wouldn't leave me. He's not one to break a promise, he won't leave.
   We were outside of Karma's hospital room. The doctor said we couldn't go in the room. Apparently Kayano left earlier, but she came back after Nagisa called her and told her what happened. Nagisa was sitting to the left of me. He was staring at the floor. He wouldn't say a word. Kayano was to the left of him. She was standing with her hand covering her mouth. She wasn't crying, for once. The door to the room opened. The nurses came out and walked past us. None of them met our eyes. Then, the doctor came out.
   "I have very bad news."
   "What?! What is it?!" I raised my voice at the doctor. He has to be okay. He has to.
   "He's dead. Mr. Akabane is dead."

Nagisa's POV
   No way. I can't believe it. He's dead. Karma's...dead. I can't be real. He can't be...
   "No, no, no, no! This can't be! He's not dead!" Rio screamed. I look at her. There were tears streaming down her face. She was going crazy. She was mumbling things to herself, but I couldn't make it out. The doctor tried to get a hold of her, but she punched him in the chin.
   "Rio stop!" I yelled, trying to get to her. I grabbed her wrist, but she pushed me to the ground and I hit my head on the wall.
   "Nagisa!" Kayano came to my side. Everything was blurry. I felt something warm running down the back of my neck. I felt sleepy. Then everything went black.

Rio's POV
   He can't be dead. He said he wouldn't leave. I ran into Karma's room. I don't know why, I just did. I rushed in and saw him on the bed. No, you can't be...you said you wouldn't go. I went up to him and sat on the edge of his bed. He was so pale, his skin was cold, his eyes we empty. I can't believe it. He was...dead.
   "You promised...You promised wouldn't leave. You promised you would stay by my side. You promised..." I put my head on his chest. No heartbeat. He's gone. He won't be coming back. He won't smile. He won't laugh. He won't hug me, or kiss me. He's gone.

   You promised.
