Surprise Birthday

This is a bit late but let's go!

At your apartment

You were looking through your phone and checked the calendar. You noticed it was already 18th June and you thought about something that was going to happen tomorrow and then you realized. "OMG! It's Dazai's birthday tomorrow! You gasped and then thought about what you should do. An idea came in your mind and you immediately created a group chat, one without Dazai in it.

This will be the group chat so I will create a few nicknames that suits every member.

ADA Shenanigans Group Chat

The Badass have added Sushi, Detective Sweet, Angry Mom, Cutie, Cutie rabbit, Mr Ginger and Psycho Doctor into the group chat.

Rise and shine my fellow people! We have an urgent meeting!

W-WHAT HAPPENED? (Y/n) why are you awake? It's already 11 pm.

I agree with the brat. WHY ARE YOU AWAKE AT THIS TIME OF THE NIGHT?!

GEEZ!  Mom, stop being so noisy. I have gathered you all for an event that will happen tomorrow. Anyone want to guess what it is?

Mr please🙄 Why did you think I created this group chat for? Well we need to split up into 3 groups. 1 group to decorate the office, 1 group to make the food and cake and 1 group to distract Dazai.

I definitely would not be in the distract Dazai group. That bastard can immediately sense something wrong. And Ranpo should not be in the food making group.

Wait, why not?!

Ranpo-san you'll just eat the food while cooking.

Kenji-kun will accidentally let the secret out. And Dazai can pretty much know what we are thinking. Not to mention he DOES keep asking you out for a date for the past few months. So you're basically the best choice.

Oh yeah… Just this one time that I will go out on this date. Let's just hope everything goes smoothly.  Welp, I'm gonna turn it off now. Make sure none of you say anything or else.

Everyone went offline

You turned off your phone and started thinking of ways on how to agree with Dazai on how to go on that date. You sighed knowing that this thought was gonna keep you up all night. "Wait… if he asks me out again then I'll just agree to it! I just need to make sure that he won't be suspicious." you said and after that you immediately went to sleep thinking that your plan would work.

The Day (19th June)

You woke up early and were about to go to the toilet until you heard someone knock on your door. You walked up to the door and opened it which revealed none other than Dazai himself. "Good morning belladonna!" he chirped happily. " Good morning as well, Dazai-san. Wait, you're up early?" you were shocked to see that this man was up way too early. " The thing is I'm skipping work today, so I want you to skip it as well," he said cheekily. You sweatdrop knowing that Kunikida was gonna kill him but then it is his birthday, so you decided to agree with his plans for once. You had to message Kunikida about this after this. "Fine. Just this once since you have been persistent." you told him. " Ah belladonna if you keep rejecting- wait you agree?!" Dazai stopped midway, shocked by what he heard. " What do you want me to go or not?" you said, raising your eyebrow. "O-of course I want you to come. I just didn't expect you to agree so quickly… are you hiding something from me (y/n)-chan? You never agree to something like this easily." Dazai asked suspiciously. " Even if I did hide something I won't tell you. Now wait for a few minutes. I need to get ready." you said and went to your phone. You messaged Kunikida about the plan and went to the bathroom. " Welp let's get ready then".

Timeskip to an hour

"I wonder why (y/n)-chan easily agreed to go on this date… Welp I finally can go out with her now!" Dazai hyped himself up. "Dazai-san sorry for making you wait too long." you apologized. Dazai turned around and was astounded to see you. "Y-you look beautiful." Dazai complimented you. "Thank you! By the way, let's go wherever that you want. It is your birthday after all." you told him. Dazai's eyes sparkled and he takes your hand immediately walk to a certain place. "Let's go to the flower park.  I've always wanted to go there with you." he said. "Sure!" you enthusiastically answered.

3rd person pov

"Alright Dazai-san and (y/n)-chan are out of the picture. Let's start decorating guys!" Tanizaki sent a voice message in the group chat. "All right everyone. We have to finish everything in about 3 hours at least. Dazai is going to suspect things if we don't finish this soon. Now move it!" Kunikida commanded. Everyone then started doing their jobs while you tried your best to stall more time for them. And when this happened, Dazai did not suspect anything at all to which you were kinda relieved. You then felt a bit tired after walking around the flower park so you sat on the nearest bench. You opened your purse and found the present that you wanted to give to Dazai. While you were looking at the present you didn't notice sat next to you until he coughed which got your attention. "(Y/n)-chan~ what is that in your hands?" Dazai asked playfully. You smiled and handed him the present which got Dazai a bit puzzled until you said " Happy birthday dork." you cheekily said. "You didn't have to get me a gift, but thank you." Dazai said. You felt a warm feeling creeping up inside you when you saw him smile. You know that he's been through a lot, so seeing him like this just made you happy. Your phone then vibrated and it was Atsushi who had messaged you saying that the preparations are all finished. You then messaged him saying that you will get back to the agency as soon as possible. You turned off your phone and got up from the bench. " Dazai-san, let's go to the Agency." you said. "Eh?! But it's my birthday. Can't I not go to work just for today?" Dazai asked. "Oh come on. Let's just go. Kunikida just found out that I had skipped work as well. You know him right?" You lied trying to get him to catch the bait. Dazai contemplated for a bit and sighed. "Fine. It is Kunikida-kun after all." Dazai said in a sulking tone. "He sounds so cute." you said to yourself. The both of you set off to the agency and along the way you noticed Dazai's sulky face which was pretty sad and cute at the same time.

At the agency

"Well I'm in for one hell of a lecture from Kunikida-kun." Dazai said to you to which you laughed. He opened the door and was showered with confettis and and the view made him shocked. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAZAI-SAN!" the members all yelled. Dazai looked confused and looked back and forth between you and the other members. " (Y/n) planned the idea and we did the decorations. She bought us enough time to decorate the office." Kunikida said. You then poked Dazai's back and he looked at you. "So… Do you like your surprise?" you asked. Dazai smiled and patted your head. "Of course I love it. Thank you everyone." Dazai said. "Let's cut the cake already! I'm starving!" Ranpo yelled, making everyone laugh. Dazai felt blessed that everyone was willing to surprise him for his birthday and today was one of the best days that he has ever experienced.

Himiko: I kinda planned to published this earlier but I had a few things going on, so it was a bit late. I'm sorry that it looks so rushed, but I tried my best with this!

Dazai: Y-you made a story for me? (Starting to tear up) and it's for my birthday?

Himiko: Yeah... But it's way too late so I'm sorry Daz-

Dazai: THANK YOU HIMIKO-CHAN! (happy) I don't really mind that it's a bit late. I'm really touched that you still made a birthday one shot despite your busy schedule.

Himiko: W-wow. T-thanks. By the way why don't you so the honours of ending the story? And HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAZAI OSAMU!

Dazai: Of course. We hope you all love the story and until then goodbye!
