“Mason Walker! I swear I will kick your ass if you make me late today! I haven’t seen everyone for 5 months! Last time I saw Jer was at some fair! I will cook you raw and eat you!” I threatened outside Mason’s door.

It had been 4 years since we parted our ways.

I was 21 now, all grown up. Mason and I were roomies. Since we go to the same university, we decided to get a nice little flat near campus. We fought every day but I would never trade being roomies with Mason for anything in the world.

We met on everyone’s birthdays and big events, not just 6 months.

Ashton was 3 hours away from us, and as we had decided earlier, we still meet every weekend without fail. When I couldn’t make it for weekends due to exams, Ashton would drive up all the way here and help me out or just take me on a nice movie or lunch date.

I constantly skyped Maddison and Andrew who were living together now, and were engaged, wow what a surprise. It happened about 5 months ago when we all met up.

Jer was a bit further down, about 7 hours. But we’d meet occasionally when I would have long breaks or he would. I text him all the time, and my week doesn’t end without a 2 hour phone call or skype call or facetime call with him.

Lisa is not very far away from Madds and Andrew, she meets them every now and then, but I haven’t seen her for 5 months now.

“Ah, the ever so threatening Anns” Mason said, finally appearing out of his room.

“What were you even doing?” I said hitting his shoulder.

“Taking a dump” he deadpanned.

I groaned, “You know I really want to meet Madds and Andrew and Lisa! And be with everyone together! It’s our annual 6 month meeting!”

“I know, J, and I’ll get you to your house in no time, I promise” Mason said kissing my forehead.

You must be wondering where did ‘J’ come from. Well, after a while we got bored of ‘Tom’ and ‘Jerry’ so we started calling each other ‘J’ and ‘T’ I mean obviously we were still very much Tom and Jerry.

We hit the road then, Mason drove for 2 hours and I took the wheel for the next 1.5.

Every one of us had the key to my house so I was excited to see who had reached before me.

I ran out of the car and barged into my door, banging on it obviously since I forgot to unlock the door. When I finally managed that, the door opened to Lisa’s beautiful face.

“LISA! I HAVE MISSED YOU!” I screamed into her ears and crushed her into a hug.

“Missed you too Anns! It’s been what, 5 months!” she said with equal excitement.

“Madds get your ass out here you bitch, I miss you! I know you’re hiding I saw your car in the driveway, and I know Lisa came with you so before I go crazy-”

I wasn’t able to complete my sentence as Maddison rushed into me, “DIANA!”

I hugged her furiously. No matter how many new girl friends I made, there was not one Madds that I could find. She would always be my number one, and I know I will be hers.

She let go of me and ran into Mason’s arms, squealing.

Then Andrew came into view, he calmly walked towards me and kissed my cheeks. “How are you?”

He asked hugging me tightly as well. I remained in his arms for a while, I missed him so much, and he is my brother after all. I had become used to him yelling at me and making me breakfast in the mornings. It has been 4 years, yes, but I can’t get over it.

“I’m good, Andrew, I have missed your pancakes” I said, almost crying on his chest.

“Then you’ll be happy to hear that I have already made some for you.”

I kissed his cheek, “You’re the best brother ever, you know?”

“I know.”

Then I heard a car pull into the driveway.

I knew it was Jeremy Hastings.

He walked into the house, and looked directly at me, opening his arms, flashing me a smile. I ran to him and he spun me around.

“Jer! I have missed you like crazy! You were supposed to come visit me last week!” I yelled.

“Oh right, I know I bailed, I’m so sorry, I had to attend the seminar, I’ll make it up to you, I promise!”

“How’s Jenny?”

“She’s doing perfectly alright; I’m here for a month longer, go meet her and spend some time with her. She really misses you, well you and Mason both. How about the three of us go meet her before you leave?”

“Of course, I have met her for 4 years constantly every time I have come here; there is no chance I will miss this time too. Anyway! How have you been?”

“I have been just the same, caught up with studies and chicks” he winked.

I chuckled, “Yeah right.”

“So I have brought 2 disney, 2 horrors and 2 sci-fis, when exactly are we getting started?” his voice from the doorway. I closed my eyes and opened them, turning, locking my eyes with his. Even though we meet every week, I can never get enough of him.

He engulfed me into a warm, loving hug. “I’ve got a surprise for you” he whispered.

“And what is that exactly?”

“You and I are going on a mini 5 day vacation to Hawaii. I figured you need the days off and I do too. I know your schedule you have nothing important for a whole 3 weeks, so I am going to take advantage of that and fly you off to an island.” He said kissing my lips.

“I love you, you’re perfect” I said.

“I love you, you’re prefecter” he replied.

I smiled, “Not a word, babe”

“For you, it is”

“Very well Mr. Waters. It’s about time you take me out somewhere”

“Miss Summers, I intent to take you everywhere, I have my whole life with you to do so”

“When are you going to propose to her?” Mason asked, “Ya’ll already look like a married couple, what are you waiting for? Afraid she will say no and leave you for me?”

“If that ever happens, then I’m sure it would be Ashton leaving Anns for Mason” Jeremy chuckled.

“Well, it doesn’t sound like a bad idea” Ashton said as he hugged Mason.

Yeah, they were still the gay couple they were.

I guess some things never change.

“Group hug!” Maddison yelled, and we all huddled up against each other, our arms spread out.

Once we were all caught up with each other’s lives we planned on a 20 day trip to Miami in the summers. Since all of our semesters would be over by then, it was the most suitable date and the perfect idea.

We were on the table chewing on Maddison’s delicious lunch.

“Pass me the ketchup, Anns” Jeremy asked for his second bottle of ketchup from across the table.

“Doesn’t your love for sauce ever freak out your girlfriend?” Mason asked, eyeing Jeremy.

“Who Freya?” asked Jeremy while pouring ketchup onto his plate, “Nah, she loves it as much as I do if not more”

Oh I don’t think I told you about this bit…Yeah, Jeremy had finally found an amazing girl: Freya. They bumped into each other at the campus and hit it off immediately. He has been dating her for about a year now, and I have been dying to meet her, but he refuses to let her meet all of us, saying we’ll scare her away.

“Ah my children, when will you ever change?” Lily asked appearing out of nowhere. “Jeremy, I will stop the supply of ketchup here one day, and Ashton please stop playing with your food, Diana honey, your mouth cannot possibly fit so much at once! Mason, if you drop yet another piece from your mouth I will not let you eat for 3 hours. Lisa and Maddison, you have to feed yourself, not the table”

“Mom!” Ashton whined beside me.

“Lils, same as ever” Mason winked at her to which she rolled her eyes.

“I still don’t see a ring on Diana’s hand, Ashton, how long exactly are you going to wait?!” she scolded Ashton.

“Mum, we have been over this. Please just let me eat”

“You’re an idiot.” She mumbled before coming over next to me and taking a seat.

We all sat and ate together until Lily got a call from work and had to leave. She ordered all of us to be at her house for dinner by 7 or she’d kick some ass.

We were right where we were 4 years ago, and every time we met. Ashton sleeping on my lap, and I on Maddison’s shoulder whose legs were over Andrew’s. Mason upside down on the couch and Jeremy throwing things on his face trying to hit his nose. Lisa was curled up in a blanket with her head on Mason’s stomach.

We were watching The Lion King.

It has been 4 years and nothing has changed.

People say change is good.
