Lisa could die for trying to suppress her laughter at the guy, seriously! Her cheeks were already shaking and her lips trembled, threatening to burst into a fit of hysterical laughter as the nervous, anxious Jungkook turned into a happy cheerleader within seconds!
She caught him off-guard with that stalker-slash-serial-killer shit just now but it was necessary that she voiced it out to ensure that even he is, he'd know that she's ready for the possible fight she plans to put up in case he tries anything!
That's rule number one by the way: always act like you're paying attention to what's happening around you and the intentions people have on you. She read that in an article, titled Serial Killer Victim Selection in one of the magazines she picked up in an old bookstore back in Thailand.
The fact that someone actually wrote an entire column about it in a teen magazine and she chose to read it with full attention is questionable, but she's glad she did. It's proven to be useful in cases where she didn't want any unwelcomed attention, that's for sure! Hey, it's dangerous for a woman to go about places alone so she had to be ready, right?
"So um...are you and Bam – I mean, Bam-ie – are you guys related?" He asked with a shaky voice. Is he always this nervous?
"Nope. I grew up in the same neighborhood as him. His mom and my mom's really close since we were little. So we're kinda forced into being siblings,"
"Forced? What – like – your moms married each other?" He chuckled and she noticed the dimples on his cheek. Cute!
"They could've if they weren't so straight but yeah...something like that. They're like super best friends with each other. Forced as in - I'm an only child and I always wanted a brother or sister – but Bam-ie's so annoying that I stopped asking for one,"
It's good to see him laugh a little. He'd been so quiet and stiff since they left the bus stop, it made her feel slightly better now to see some normal human interaction going on in this small, enclosed space. Plus, it's going to be a long drive so the silence will definitely make it more awkward than it already is!
"Yeah...he can get a little too much sometimes,"
"How bout you – how long have you known him?" She asked.
"Oh, he was my roommate in college so that's...6 years?" She nodded with a small hum. "Yeah...he's a nice friend to have. Always helpful...and – and very friendly too! He's the one who introduced me to the friends at my table just now. By the way Lisa-ssi – which friend were you talking about? About uh...you know, what you said earlier. And what did he do?"
His jaw tensed again and she wondered if it bothered him that much to be thinking about it up until now.
"I can't remember now," She can, but she didn't want to get Bam-ie involved. Jungkook might seem like a nice guy now...but she doesn't know him well enough to be able to figure out his intentions.
Very few people ask because they're really concerned, but most would do it just to use it against you for the benefit of their own. She learned that the hard way a long time ago.
...
The atmosphere had been pleasant the moment he decides to brave himself up and ask her a question - up until now that is! She was smiling and giggling, and her answers made him laugh. But now...she threw her gaze far outside the window...as if she's thinking about something – something so heavy, burdening even.
Did his question offend her? He genuinely, only wanted to know and maybe – if what 'his friend' did hurts her so much and it caused her to leave the wedding early – maybe he could plan a revenge on behalf of her?
Damn – am I turning into the character in the series she spoke about – what the fuck Kook - no!
"Are you a dog person or a cat person, Jungkook-ssi?" She suddenly asked, her face is still on the dark view outside.
That's such a random question! "Um...I prefer dogs, only cus my parents adopted one and I'm used to having him around back home. I don't have any pets at my own,"
"You don't like cats?" Her voice is soft but it sounded like she's mocking him.
"It's not that I don't like them. I just never had cats before and um..." Jungkook bit his lower lip to calm the nerves. "They seemed a bit out of control," He heard her little chuckle.
"You're scared of cats?" Okay, there's definitely a hint of laughter in her tone!
"No, I'm not! They're so tiny, why would I be scared of them?"
"Right..." She laughed, and he took the opportunity to laugh along even if he didn't think it was funny, just to lighten up the vibe again. Briefly he wonders if she's suffering from bipolar - her mood changes very quickly and very easily, how could he not??
"So I'm guessing you're a cat person?"
"Yes! Sorry, I just remembered that I needed to get some food for my cats. That's why I asked,"
Oh...not bipolar then - that's good! He would hate to find that his girlfriend has uncontrollable mood-swings all the time - wait, what?? Girlfriend - pshh!!
"Where do you need to get the food?"
"I normally buy them at a pet store but since it's late, I'll just get a small one when we stop by for ramyeon,"
Huh? "Your cats eat ramyeon?"
She laughs again, harder this time. "Cute!"
What's cute - her ramyeon-eating cats or me? Tell me!!
...
"Ah, there's one!!" She points a finger far ahead, to the only lighted signage along the street.
"Is this close to your house?" He frowns because for some reason, the area gives him a chill.
The shop lots by the street looked like workshops, with hardly any signage to identify. The street itself is dimmed and quiet. He hadn't notice a single soul walking around. It doesn't seem like a safe area for Lisa...the image of her walking by herself at night - just like earlier - came into mind and he didn't like it one bit.
"No...I'm not exactly sure where we are, but I remember the bus passing by here,"
She – wait, so she's been telling him where to go by just recalling the bus's routes? Does she have a photographic memory or something??
"Lisa-ssi, maybe later you can give me the address...I can put it on GPS," Jungkook can't help his grim tone. They could've been lost – thank God his tank is still full!
"Oh yeah – why didn't I think of that before?" She giggled and he thought she sounded cute. It made him smile a little – forgetting his earlier annoyance!
...
He follows behind her from one aisle to another. The convenient store is quiet when they walked in, with only the sound of chime at the entrance filling the space. Jungkook spotted the cashier near the entrance, who's so busy reading a comic book that he didn't even look up to the two.
He was only going to accompany her but looking at everything she touched and placed back on the shelves made him feel like he should buy it – not sure why. So here he is - with an almost-full basket – half-limping behind her. Weird...
Jungkook contemplates on putting all these back to where they came from. Most of it are sweet snacks...why and when would he even eat all these -
"Ah...this is my favourite instant ramyeon!" She held it up to his face, abruptly stopping his tracks. "Spicy...but just the right amount. And when you eat it with kimchi, oh my God –" She looks up and closes her eyes, holding the plastic bowl close to her chest.
Jungkook wanted to expire at the sight! How is it even possible that she could look so fucking hot while talking about a fucking ramyeon?! Well, one more for the basket I guess!
They got to last aisle – facing the cold section – and Jungkook has been paying extra attention on the kimchi she might choose when the chime rings again. Extra attention to her face actually! It's very hard to focus on the kimchis as Lisa kept pouting and her cheeks puffed out like a small, fluffy bun trying to –
"Give it all now!!" The loud, sudden shout had them jump slightly in their spots and their eyes wide open.
