Jungkook swore he's never felt more annoyed at Mingyu than he is right now. The guy can't stop talking about how he hoped 'Lali' would be at the after-party and strategizing the ways of making his 'move' on her – shamelessly not minding the teases he got from the others. Jungkook's not sure why, but it makes him mad. And with every anger-inducing remarks, he'll take a sip of his wine to somehow help him calm the fuck down.
"You okay, Kook?" Jaehyun asked in a softer tone. He's probably worried that Jungkook is drinking in silence while the rest are enjoying the entertainment that is Mingyu, so Jungkook just shrugged in return. "You know...you can get her too if you want,"
What? What the hell is that supposed to mean –
He looked over his shoulder to find Jaehyun smirking at him. "I saw her smiling at you a while ago. Did that make you nervous?"
"What – are you my therapist now?" He snapped more than he intended.
The guy threw his head back as he laughed. "First session is free,"
And to that – Jungkook lets out a chuckle. To be honest, he's already slightly tipsy from the 3 glasses of wine he had. Jungkook don't drink much so hey, don't judge! The guy had probably been drunk for only 4 times throughout his entire life, and he didn't plan on getting drunk tonight either.
He has a presentation to review over this weekend and he needs to focus. It's a first proposal of a database security for the National Intelligence Service, which he has to present in the big meeting organized in next two weeks. It's so important that he got it right, since it could be the biggest and most significant portfolio he has ever done for PointLoop. Nothing else should matter within this crucial process, and he shouldn't be distracted by such lame excuse of a drunken night out!
"But dude...there must be a catch. What if it's a deal-breaker?" Minghao's voice broke his chain of thoughts.
"Oh shit – what if it's her voice? What if she whines a lot and calls you 'Minngggyuu-ahhh' all the time?" Yugyeom mimicked a sound of a whiny brat.
"Shit – I'll be so fine if she calls me that!" Mingyu rubbed his chest proudly and Jungkook rolled his eyes again. Another sip!
"She doesn't look like a Korean...maybe she's one of those foreign models –" DK said, earning a bunch of scowls around the table. "What? She does have a body like one –"
"That's not the point. Most models are bimbos and if they come here to work, they'll be the stupidest of all! How much work can you do in Korea if you're a foreigner –" And...another sip!
"True, true," Mingyu nods to Minghao. "But hey, maybe I like girls who don't do much thinking! Maybe I like them listening to whatever I say –"
Okay, double-sip!
"You say a lot of stupid shit though –" DK's remarks had everyone laughing in their seats. Everyone but Jungkook.
"Well, she can't be a socialite or a chaebol's daughter...we would've known,"
Damn...do these people not care about anything else other than their own circle??
"Maybe she's just a normal, pretty girl –" Jaehyun's words were loud in his ears but for some reason, weren't loud enough for the others to hear.
"Maybe she had a plastic surgery to look like that – look at her, she looks like a freaking doll!"
"That'll give you the shock of your life huh Mingyu? To find your kids suddenly coming out looking ugly as fuck –"
Okay, this is where he draws the line! The girl had indeed made quite a commotion with her mysterious vibes floating around among the boys and Jungkook felt suffocated by it. Of course he wanted to know too, but he can't help but feeling on edge about all these blind assumptions!
He slammed both palms on the table when he realized he's finished the entire glass, earning all eyes to focus on him. Jungkook gathered himself together and forced a smile.
"I'm gonna call it a night. Have fun at the party guys!"
He heard the disappointed mutterings of his buddies but continues to stand and starts to leave, suppressing the urge to glance at the girl for one more time...one last time. Shit - whatever that he's feeling tonight – it's definitely new and dangerous. It is something he's not familiar with and not a water he's willing to put his feet in. He's fine with his own ways and he'll stick by it.
Speaking of which, it's already 9pm and his marketing team is still silent. Fuck it – I'll go to bed in an hour!
...
The ramyeon and kimchi has been calling for her, roaming around her mind and her growling stomach. And to make things worse, the never-ending stares she caught from the table full of guys in front of her is getting on her nerves. It's the same table with that weirdo who didn't smile back at her when he was the one being caught staring at her! Well, that cute weirdo's no longer around, but his friends are still glancing and smirking – laughing at whatever jokes only they know.
What the hell are they looking at – do I have sauce all over my face or something?? Ugh...can I just leave? Ramyeon...kimchi...I'm coming for you!
Lisa politely said her goodbyes to all the girls at her table before getting up with her bags and coat. She stretched out her neck a little and found the person she was looking for in a second. She then makes her way through the crowds until she reached the woman.
"Ahjummaaa..." She kneels down beside the elder.
"Ah, Lalisa-yaa!! You're here!" Mrs Bhuwakul jumped a little in surprise before pulling her into a hug. "I missed you so much! Bam-ie told me you might come but he wasn't sure – aish! How's your mother?"
Lisa giggled a little. "She's fine, ahjumma. She wanted to come to Seoul but daddy has a conference in Melbourne so she had to go with him. His health hadn't be good lately so mommy's a bit worried. She asked me to tell you that she's coming next month –"
"Omo – that's great news!! I can't wait to see her! Tell her don't worry. I'll wait until she comes okay? What about you – who are you here with?"
"I came by myself –"
"What? No boyfriend you want to introduce me to? I'm like your second mother, you don't have to be shy,"
"Aish ahjumma! If I have one, you'll surely be the first among my moms to know! You know I'm always alone,"
Mrs Bhuwakul slaps her shoulder slightly and giggled. "Remember what I said. Don't be too sad for too long okay? How many years has it been and you're still alone?"
Lisa didn't know how to answer her so she just gave a slow nod with a pursed smile.
"Give a chance Lali...it won't hurt you," The elder puts a hand on her shoulder and Lisa nodded with a little more enthusiasm.
...
A hand on her right arm stopped her tracks as she left the big tent and its crowd. Lisa turned and quickly pulls her hand back as she saw that it's a guy who were among the group that had been annoyingly staring and laughing at her earlier. She didn't know who he is, but it's definitely the one who made her feel the most uncomfortable.
His gaze is dark and his face shows an obvious intention of ownership – scanning her from top to the waist as if she's a meal...or an object he needs to acquire. Lisa held her chin up nevertheless.
"Hey, leaving already?" He smiled. Dashing...but not charmingly dashing enough. Lisa cocked an eyebrow and saw the hint of hesitation in his eyes. "Are you um...are you coming to the after-party later? You should come...me and my friends will be there. It'll be fun,"
"I should go cus you and your friends will be there..." She squints her eyes and repeats slowly. "So the after-party...that's hosted by the bride and groom...won't be fun if you and friends are not there?"
He laughed nervously. "I mean...of course the bride and groom being there will make it fun too,"
Lisa stares at the state of this young man, then at the table behind him. The entire table is staring at them. He's certainly brave and confident enough to put on a show for his friends! Let's see...sharp, tailored suit – must be a designer's. Gucci Italian silk tie...and Gucci loafers – so I'm guessing the suit is Gucci too? He must be one of Bambam's rich friends!
"I don't think I should. I could get a little wild and I'm not sure if they'd appreciate me stealing the spotlight," She smirked and said – just cus she felt like goading him a little.
And it worked. His face lights up and his smile got wider. "Oh wow...you should definitely come then! I'm sure I can keep that wild side just between us," His hand reached up to her arm, caressing it with a light touch of his fingertips.
She felt so much like breaking them but instead, she took one step forward and smiled – earning a winning grin from the guy. She then leaned closer for a whisper.
"Tempting...but you won't be able to handle me. You look like someone who'd ruin my kinda fun," His face falls immediately when she pulls herself back and Lisa wanted to laugh. "Have a good night," She walked off.
