Part 3

"Pay attention to the ball!"

The soccer ball flew across the field and was on its' way to Faye. If the PE teacher didn't shout, Faye would've been hit right in face. It was hard to pay attention when there were so many thoughts on her mind. She couldn't stop thinking about the bear and the pictures from earlier. Was the stalker someone she knew? Someone at school? A student? A teacher? Or a total stranger?

"Hello? Earth is calling!" Erika, Faye's friend, called. "Why are you spacing out on such a sunny day?"

Faye faked a smile. "No reason."

"I can't believe those screwed teachers. Why do we have play soccer on this cursed side of the field? I mean, just because the track club is having some kinda messed up competition on the other side. Seriously, the ball must have fallen into that shitty pool at least ten times now!"

Faye kind of blocked out the rest of Erika's blabbing. It was really typical how she would complain about everything. Erika is the kind of girl who had the looks that attracted almost everyone. But as soon as she opened her foul mouth, people would be running. Most of her classmates didn't dare getting too close to her. Mostly because she lived in the shadiest neighborhood in town, and her parents were rumored to be involved with the Italian mafia. That wasn't entirely true. According to Erika, her parents used to sell drugs.

Though she didn't like the idea of drug dealing parents, Faye enjoyed hanging around with Erika. Just not at that moment. She wanted to be alone and collect her thoughts.

"Erika, I just need to rest a bit. I'll be watching from the sidelines, so play hard, girl!" she said, a lot more cheerful than she felt.

"Oh, okay. I'll kick those asses for you!"

Faye walked out of the field. Sitting by the field lines would be too noisy, so she went a bit further. A few feet away were the school's outdoor pool. She decided to sit by it. Nobody would bother her there. She rubbed her arms while walking. Despite the sunny weather, the air was quite chilly.

As soon as she sat down, she felt loneliness squeeze her chest. Now that Faye was away from the other students, she felt so alone. Someone was after her, but she didn't have anyone to share her fears with. Jack didn't believe her, and who knew where Tori was. She hadn't seen Tori anywhere in school since her boyfriend called.

Faye was scared. Really scared. She needed someone she could lean on. Acting like nothing was wrong really sucked out all her energy.

Suddenly, out of the blue, a ball came flying at full speed toward her. Faye wanted to move away, but her sitting position didn't allow her to do so fast enough. "Watch out!" someone shouted. That was the last thing she remembered.
