Hard To Love
"Wake up, Darling."
I groan rolling over to grab onto Kookie, only to be met with an empty bed.
It's so early, he is never up before me. Where did he go? I hear shuffling in the room and barely peek my eyes open to see Jimin standing at the edge of the bed, a bright smile on his face.
"Get up, lazy," Jimin says, pulling the blanket off me.
"Jimin, let me sleep. I worked a late shift last night" I whine.
"No can do" I hear Jimin say.
The next thing I know Jimin grabs hold of my ankles and starts to tug me towards the edge of the bed.
I instantly start kicking my legs trying to get him to let go as he laughs and yanks me right off the bed.
I fall with a loud thud, the wind is knocked out of me as I lay on the carpeted floor.
"Oh shit!" Jimin says running his hand through his hair and licking his lips nervously.
"What the fuck Jimin," I say grumpily.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for you to fall," he says, helping me up off the ground.
"Mhm, get out I'm going back to bed," I say, snatching my blanket off the floor and crawling back into bed with it wrapped around me.
"Jellatin, you need to get up. I've got plans for us."
"You didn't clear them with me, Jiminie, my plans consist of me sleeping in and eventually eating with Kookie," I say glaring at him from within my little burrito blanket.
"You're such a boring turtle now," he scoffs as he grabs the edge of my blanket, yanking it again and running out the room with it.
"JIMIN, WE ARE DIVORCING! DON'T YOU DARE SHOW YOUR FACE TO ME AGAIN!" I yell out my open door before slamming it closed.
"You don't mean it," Jimin laughs peeking from behind the door, only his head showing.
I glare at him as he walks in with a huge grin, "shoulda got up when I told you, Darling. Come on, wear this, and let's go!" he says, pulling out a pair of black leggings from my drawer and a comfy grey long sleeve shirt.

Jimin's eyes quietly look me over from head to toe as I step out from behind the changing curtain.
I've tried on tons of outfits at this point and I'm still grumpy from my rude awakening this morning.
My stomach has been rumbling for the last hour because we haven't eaten anything besides the toast Jimin shoved into my hands, and of course, he had no jam to go with it.
He smiles brightly, his eyes totally closing as he steps closer to me, "this is the one! You look perfect!"
I smile as I look at myself in the mirror, it was a very nice dress. Simple, white, cute, and super comfy. It was a lot different than what I usually wear.
I mean, you could hardly ever catch me out of my typical black leggings and some sort of long top, but this made me feel feminine and pretty.
"Why am I getting dressed up?" I question with a smile.
"I'm taking you somewhere special."
"Where?"
"It's a secret."
It is at that exact moment that my stomach decides to embarrass me and lets out a loud rumble. "Can we please eat first, I'm starving..." I mumble as my blush works its way up my neck.
"You eat more than Jin, I swear" he groans, but in the end agrees to have a light lunch.
We spend a few more hours around the mall, Jimin insists I get my hair and make-up done and when he finally approves of the look, he pushes me back into his car.
After about a 30-minute drive with us singing our favorite songs at the top of our lungs, we pull up to the park Kookie and I visit a lot. When we step out of the car Jimin insists I'm blindfolded before he takes my hand and pulls me along with him.
"I swear, Jimin, you know I don't like surprises. If you're trying to pull another one of your pranks, Ima beat you" I threaten as I stumble a little and grip his arm tightly.
I hear him chuckle as we keep walking, he stops me dead in my tracks telling me to take 5 steps forwards and then remove my blindfold after counting to ten. I'm nervous he's got a bad track record. The last time he pulled this, I walked right into a hole he had dug and filled with water.
"Good luck, Darling" he whispers and nudges me forward.
I can hear my heart beating in my ears as I slowly count my steps. I make sure my foot is touching solid ground before I put my whole weight on it each time. Taking a deep breath, I count to ten out loud and remove my blindfold.
I gasp as I see Kookie in front of me, nervous as he stands in the middle of a blanket littered with snacks, candles, his speaker, and some drinks. Pillows I recognize from his bed are placed on the side, beside his favorite Ironman blanket.
"Surprise," he says clasping his hands together in front of him, giving me a beautiful smile.
"You planned all this?" I say excitedly as I walk up to him and give him a sweet peck.
"Yep I did," he says proudly, gently taking my hand and pulling me down to sit on the blanket.
He nervously pulls out his phone and starts some music and I recognize the song immediately.
It's Smother Me by The Used, the soft piano medley starts to play and I watch as Kookie mumbles to himself his eyes widen as he looks down.
"Everything okay?" I ask, placing my hand on his thigh squeezing it to reassure him.
"U-uh yeah sorry I'm just a little nervous," he says, a large awkward smile taking over his face. I laugh softly and he relaxes a little tilting his head with a normal smile.
"Why are you so nervous, Kookie?" he looks back down to his lap, taking in a deep breath.
"Jillian..." I heard the soft whisper of his breath as he exhaled looking back up into my eyes.
"Hey, it's just me, just tell me whatever you need to," I say softly.
"Before you, I had a lot of flings. I have never cheated on a girl, but I've always had a plan B..." his voice comes out kinda raspy and low as he starts to speak.
"But you passed my way by chance and you stopped and I haven't been the same since" he takes my hands into his, holding them as I hold my breath.
"I remember standing on the cliff with you trying to convince you to jump. I thought you were so amazing standing there in the sexy swimsuit I picked out, arguing with me passionately about not jumping, and when you looked at me with your beautiful eyes, willing to trust me, I felt my heart skip a beat.
When we were sitting at McDonald's and you were laughing about how the movie wasn't scary at all and you were eating MY fries after we had our first date, I knew then and there I wanted more. I wanted you so bad that I agreed to share you with Jimin and I've never regretted anything more because you didn't take me seriously"
"Kook-" I start to speak up but he just shakes his head and continues talking.
"I've gone about things horribly. I'm jealous and brash. I've pushed you away, said mean things and I've hurt you. I'm so sorry..."
"Kookie it's okay we have moved past that, no?" I say looking at him confused. "Are you trying to end things with me nicely?! You should just be upfront if you are. I'm a big girl. I can handle it" I say a little panicked.
"I know I am insensitive. I tend to pay more attention to the things that I need. I know sometimes I drink too much, and sometimes I test your trust. I actually don't know why you stay with me" I mumble out as a heavyweight is felt in my chest, my eyes start to water as I fight to keep my tears in. I let go of his hands and look down at my lap.
"I'm hard to love, I know I don't make it easy and I probably couldn't do it if I were you..." my voice dwindles into a whisper.
"No, Babe. That's the thing, you're not hard to love" Kookie says tilting my face up to look at him.
"For some, it's your smile or eyes they notice first or your stupid sassy humor, but for me, it was how you hold yourself. You have always been strong and, yes, a little stubborn, but even after everything you have been through, you hold yourself in a way that says 'I am still here; I survived'"
"We are here because I want you to know that I'll never care how far you push me away. Because when I told you I would wait, I meant it! You're a little lost and a little damaged, but I know who you are..." he pauses and nervously bites his lower lip.
"I love who you are, Jillian. I love you."
"W-what?" I stutter out in complete shock.
"I love you," he says confidently.
He brings his hand up to cup my cheek, his thumb running along the curve of my cheekbone. I nestle into his hand, tears falling down my cheeks as I feel his warmth seep into me. He leans in, his lips parting slightly, I'm frozen waiting for the brush of his lips.
I close my eyes and feel his soft lips press against mine tenderly, sending a shiver down my spine. My heart feels like it's flying and the world seems to stop. This kiss is perfect, he is firm and gentle as he pulls me in, burning my lips with his mouth. I can feel his nervousness as he pulls away, but his smiling eyes hold me captive.
"I've been dying to tell you for a while now," he says, his hand coming up to rest on his heart as he smiles at me.
"I uh...I, um, Kookie" I panic not knowing how to reply. I watch as his smile drops and he looks scared.
"If my feelings for you are only 75% of the feelings you have for me, would you still want to be my boyfriend? Would you still love me?" I say equally scared. I have feelings for Kookie. I want to be with him, but is it love? I don't know.
"Yes, I want you to be my girlfriend, I'll make up for the other 25 percent" he says seriously.
"Why are you like this?" I ask standing up and turn my back to him.
"Because..." he says walking behind me, wrapping me in his arms and resting his chin on my shoulder. "You are the only girl I'm willing to change my ways for, there's no longer another option for me out there, no plan B."
"Do you think I'll be happier with someone else? Not a chance! You're finally in my arms and I'll never let go" he says, tightening his embrace as I turn to look at him.
"I want to be together with you...I have feelings for you, Kookie. I can't 100 percent say it's love, but I don't want to be without you" I say sincerely.
"I'm not going anywhere ever, I'll wait for as long as you need" he leans down again, and his lips capture mine.
