The sunset was absolutely beautiful.
But Jungkook couldn't bring himself to notice, his eyes barely leaving his boyfriend's face as they strolled hand in hand along their childhood beach.
The golden light caught on Jimin's blonde locks so delicately, warming up his pale skin for a delicious honey-like glow... he just looked stunning.
"I can't believe the weather is actually so perfect right now..." His lips sighed and Jungkook followed the movements with his eyes, "the universe could never ruin this for us Jiminie." He breathed in response, the sound almost getting washed away by the soft sea waves.
"Oh really, you think the universe is watching over us... not sure if that's adorable or conceited." The smaller boy giggled, squeezing the alpha's hand to further push his teasing, "I think the universe is watching very carefully over you Jagiya, at least it better be." Jungkook spoke with his sweet carefree smile before frowning almost threateningly at the sky.
Jimin giggled and felt his heart swell in his chest, "Even if it's not, I know you'll always be here to protect me, hm Jeonggukkie~" The omega skipped a little as he spoke, a cute lilt to his voice as he grinned giddily. Jungkook couldn't hold back his little laugh of adoration.
"Of course Jiminie~" he mimicked the older's voice and movements, feeling complete as his boyfriend's angelic giggles spilled from his smiling lips, "you're so cute... my big cute alpha." He mumbled absentmindedly, swinging their hands back and forth between them.
"Hey Hyung, wanna go sit on that sandy patch to watch the sunset?" The younger suggested, Jimin nodding in agreement as they made their way down the stones.
"So, any reason we needed to come all the way here tonight?" Jimin breathed, staring at the calm water as they sat down beside one another, "Well, this was like the only place we ever had fun together as kids. As for bringing you here today... well..." the younger started, turning to look into Jimin's sparkling eyes, reflecting the sun's shimmering light from the ripples in the sea.
"Well~?" Jimin pushed, the alpha noticing the way his adam's apple bobbed as he gulped nervously, "well- you know better than anyone how much of an awful kid I was, and despite all the negative memories both of us share from our childhoods, the only memories of this place I hold are entirely positive, and they all include you." He smiled sweetly, Jimin reciprocating the expression with rosy cheeks.
"I realise now, as we've gotten closer, that I really did like you, even as a kid, I wish we were friends back then because you were so much fun Jiminie. Thank you for giving me all these wonderful memories of day trips out to the beach." He continued, squeezing Jimin's hand softly and guiltily avoiding eye contact.
"Stop with all that Guk-ah, things turned out this great despite us not always getting on well, I know I wasn't always great company so don't feel bad now." The omega reassured, bringing his other hand over to cradle Jungkook's.
"I know- I... yeah I know, I just needed to say that, before making my point." He continued before taking a breath, "the way I feel about you cannot be put into words- saying I love you doesn't even feel like enough... you are my everything Jiminie and I never want this- us- to end." He smiled softly, squeezing Jimin's hands before bringing one of his own behind his back.
"I pretty much gave myself away already but I knew I needed to do it right..." he chuckled softly, Jimin's heart picking up as he finally caught on to what his boyfriend was doing. Jungkook shuffled on the blanket they'd laid over the sand, and got himself onto one knee, Jimin swivelling on his knees to face him properly.
"So, to ensure that this doesn't end, will you officially make me the luckiest alpha- no- the luckiest person on the planet, and marry me?" The young boy asked with wide eyes, he looked so grown up to Jimin, his defined features that he'd had the privilege of watching develop and change to fit his handsome face over the years.
This boy- man- before him was not the 10 year old brat that lied to his mother to get him in trouble every week, it wasn't the 14 year old asshole that melted all his makeup, and it wasn't the 17 year old alpha that hated him and wanted him gone.
Jeon Jungkook was the love of his life.
Simple as that, no other labels needed to exist when he held that title.
The older boy smiled the happiest, purest and most genuine smile he'd ever smiled in his life, his eyes almost closing completely if it weren't for him willing them to stay open so he didn't miss a second of admiring the beautiful boy on one knee before him.
"Of course I will Koo~" he sighed and held the sides of Jungkook's face, pulling him forward to capture his lips.
The younger boy's hands found his waist, the ring box smushed against Jimin's side, but he didn't care, he was trying not to cry from the overwhelming joy erupting from his system- kissing his boyfriend through his giddy smile.
"Hey~ you gotta let me put the ring on." Jungkook laughed against the smaller boy's lips, pulling back as he too giggled and blushed in embarrassment.
When Jungkook held onto the omega's pretty little hand, sliding the simple silver ring with just one shimmering crystal in the band, onto his fourth finger... his heart felt so full.
He was engaged- they were engaged...
"I love you, my fiancé~" Jimin grinned cheekily, wiggling his fingers and admiring the beautiful ring, before meeting Jungkook's lips for another soft kiss.
~
The weekend was over way too fast, the pair had told their parents, who were of course thrilled by the news. For once they didn't even mention press or using the engagement for business purposes.
However, the two did realise that it wouldn't take long at all for the news to spread, especially since Jimin caught eyes anyway- let alone walking through the school hallways with a glittering ring around his finger.
Jimin had already messaged Hoseok to say he had big news, since the omega was his best friend after all, which is why their little group of friends were all buzzing in anticipation as the couple made their way to their lunch table.
"You spread my news Hobi-ah...?" Jimin huffed as he plonked himself onto Jungkook's lap, "nobody knows the actual news yet Jiminie just that there's news so come onnn what is it?" He banged his hands on the table for emphasis and Taehyung giggled.
Jimin let go of his boyfriend's hand from below the table and lifted it forward, "we're engaged." His face cracked into a wide grin as he wiggled his fingers and Hoseok gasped- gripping onto his best friend's hand and inspecting the shimmering diamond up close.
Taehyung shot up in surprise too- "Yah! You never told me you were gonna propose!" He immediately took an offended stance as he frowned at Jungkook.
"Well it was kind of rushed, we only really talked about it on Friday." He scratched his neck guiltily but Taehyung just huffed, folding his arms.
"You could've texted- I could've helped hype you up and pick a ring or whatever! Gah what kind of best friend misses their besties proposal." He was upset but it was also pretty obvious that he was just happy and excited for his best buddy.
"I'm sorry Tae~ you'll still be my best man don't even worry." Jungkook chuckled and Hoseok gasped again, "Jiminie can I be a bridesmaid!" He squeaked and the blonde boy laughed, "Pabo- it's a groomsman thank you very much, and of course you can."
"Congrats you two." Jin smiled and Namjoon nodded, "yeah, it's kinda crazy, you're so young." He commented sheepishly, hoping they wouldn't take offence.
"So your side of the date must have gone really well too then." Yoongi added, Hoseok flushing slightly and hoping nobody else would question what he meant.
"He took me to the beach in Busan that we used to visit as kids." Jimin blushed and looked up to his fiancé in adoration, "that's so precious omg." Tae cooed and Hoseok nodded, the two of them grasping their hands together and looking at the couple in awe.
"Oh Hyung, I bought your favourite drink this morning." Taehyung suddenly reached into his bag and pulled out a bottle of sprite, handing it to Hoseok who's mouth parted in surprise, "oh- Uhm, thank you Tae." He mumbled, gulping nervously as he took the bottle from the younger boy.
"Of course, anything for my favourite Hyung." The beta grinned his wide, innocent smile. Namjoon and Jin had engaged in their own conversation across the table, Jungkook was wholeheartedly focussed on Jimin's hand and spinning the ring around his finger-
However, Jimin was busy watching the awkward drama unfold before him. His eyes flicking between the way Yoongi glared in confusion at the way Taehyung was treating Hoseok- the boy he'd had an amazing date with just a couple days before- and the way his best friend sat in shock.
Hoseok's eyes met Jimin's and widened, the blonde boy could tell he was begging to be rescued from the horrific situation he'd found himself caught in, "so how did the rest of your side of the date go Hoseokkie?" He sang sweetly, knowing that his best friend did not want Taehyung to know yet- but also knowing it was for the best.
"You went on a date?" Taehyung asked, his smile faltering, "yeah... it was super fun, right Hyung?" Hoseok managed to smile and look toward Yoongi hopefully, the mint haired boy blushed and completely lost any of the annoyance he'd felt watching Taehyung flirt.
"Sure was, thanks again, for letting me take you out." He spoke nervously, Hoseok grinning genuinely at the his adorable shyness.
Jimin looked to Taehyung who had slumped slightly in disappointment, "hey TaeTae, they've only been on one date, you shouldn't give up yet." He winked and the beta flushed red and turned to Hoseok, throwing his hands up in defence.
"I- I don't know what he's trying to say but I promise I wouldn't try to get in the way of whatever you two have going on." He rambled and Hoseok shot a glare his best friend's way, "Taehyungie, don't worry, I'm the one who made this whole thing a mess." He sighed and hid his face in his hands.
"Okay okay no it was partially my fault- don't take all the responsibility Hobi-ah." Jimin scolded his best friend and moved his hand over to squeeze his shoulder, thus bringing Jungkook's attention to what was happening too.
"I should explain to both of you, but not right now- in the middle of the lunch hall... with our friends." Hoseok sighed again, wishing he could melt through the ground right now.
"Hey, whatever is going on it's fine Hoseokkie I don't mind." Taehyung reassured, of course he remembered their kiss and thought maybe it had meant something more to the omega, but knowing he'd since been on a date with Yoongi made him realise he must've thought wrong.
"I feel like I don't know something that happened between you and I'm sorry if I imposed, by asking you out I mean." Yoongi gulped thickly, he really liked Hoseok...
Jimin warned him that the boy had mentioned how much he enjoyed Taehyung, but then he'd also encouraged him to ask his best friend out. The alpha was confused and honestly slightly hurt that Jimin would push him into something that was so uncertain.
"Wait what's all this drama going on over here?" Jin asked in confusion, Jimin immediately noticing how he was holding on to Namjoon's hand.
"Hoseok can't choose between Taehyung and Yoongi." Jimin answered bluntly and the other omega outright squealed after the words left his mouth, "YAH!" He reached over to smack Jimin's shoulder before smushing his face into the table and hiding with his arms.
"Come onnn you needed to face the issue eventually, maybe with all of us present it'll make it easier since you're too uncomfortable to lie and be weird about it." Jimin shrugged and Jungkook sniggered against him, "you're so mean."
"I second that!" Hoseok called, his voice muffled from his hiding place, "well what do you mean you can't choose? I mean I definitely like you but we just had one kiss while we were both super tipsy. I would totally understand how Yoongi-hyung's date swept you off your feet and beat my drunk kiss Hobi-ah." Taehyung giggled lightly.
Yoongi flushed red again at the beta's confession, so Hoseok had already Kissed Taehyung before he even asked him on a date...
"You should've just told me you two were already... you know... why'd you even say yes Hoseok?" He asked, his voice laced with guilt, "Hoseokkie you've been playing them both at once!" Jin gasped, but clearly he found the situation so very amusing.
"Aghhhhh! Nooo! I didn't want to! Jimin said it didn't matter! He said I should test the waters I don't know! Blame him!" He cried out before hiding again, making everyone at the table laugh- half in pity and half just because he was being so dramatic.
"I mean Jimin is right. You aren't in a relationship with either of us Hoseok. You don't have to feel bad for not understanding your feelings right away." Yoongi reassured, hesitantly placing a hand on the omega's shoulder.
"Ugh why does life have to be so complicated, can't I just date you both?" Hoseok finally lifted his face and instead slumped back in his chair, looking up to the ceiling in dismay.
While the alpha blushed at his suggestion, Taehyung actually considered it, he looked over to Yoongi and caught himself blushing too, "well... I personally wouldn't Uhm, have a problem with that." He spoke timidly as everyone stopped to stare at him in silence.
"Whaaaattt~ Yoongi-Hyung is attractive too alright I don't know." Now it was his turn to hide his face.
"What is going on with us- These two are engaged- those two have been in love as long as I've known them and won't say anything- and now what? We're gonna be in a three way? We're all gay as fuck huh." Hoseok spoke incredulously.
Not even sparing Namjoon or Jin a glance as they awkwardly let go of each other's hands and blushed, "Yah calling it a three way sounds too... sexual- ah why are we having this conversation in the lunch hall?" Yoongi joined Taehyung in hiding his bright red face.
"Would you both come to my place after school? So we could actually have a rational conversation about this?" The omega asked nervously, looking either side of himself for the two boys' reactions.
"Sure Hyung, I think we need to." Tae mumbled into his hands and Yoongi just nodded.
"See aren't you glad I can't keep my mouth shut?" Jimin grinned, Hoseok lurching forward to smack him again.
~
Soooo- this one is shorter than the rest- and it took me very long to update- I understand those things shouldn't correlate as a longer wait should mean more/better work- HOWEVER-
This is because I've had much more important things to focus on recently- as I'm sure many of you have too- and so it just is taking a toll on my writing ability.
Also I cut this short because the next chapter will be their wedding and I didn't wanna start that here cause then it would just take another whole 6 months or something to get anything out-
So hopefully this will do for now and I'll start writing the next chapter ASAP I'm sure :)
I love you all, thanks for sticking with me through this weird time- hope everyone's safe! 💜💜💜
