Chapter 3- When I See You Again
Song- See You Again - Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth
Yeee
Let's gooooo
Nico's POV
About a week later, days after leaving Leo to himself (and running like hell when the doctors found out we weren't brothers), and I still can't get this kid off my mind.
I'm never gonna see him again.
He's just some stranger and I happened to save his life. So what?
He's not even cute-
No. He's hot as hell.
You barely know him.
So damn cliché. It's Percy all over again.
Moving too fast, Nico. It's too fast.
Slow down. It isn't worth it.
Nothing's worth it...
Stop that. The others are pests. I don't want to hear from you now.
What if it was you? Jumping from that height? Except no river to save you... only concrete's cold embrace.
Shut up.
It'd be better than bleeding out. You've already done that four times and you've seen how that's worked out.
I said shut up.
Face it Nico, that's gonna be the way you go. I'll make sure to keep you on that track.
"Shut up!" I scream, throwing the open textbooks off my desk and at the wall.
"Nico!" My mamá called, worried, and I hear her coming up the stairs.
"It doesn't shut up! It doesn't stop!" I yell in fustration, tears pricking my vison.
"Shhh, it's okay. I've got you." My mamá held me close, cradling me a bit. "It'll go away.. we'll make it better."
"It doesn't stop.." I sob. "Why can't it just stop? What did I do wrong?"
"It's going to be okay mío bambino (my baby)." She cooed. "We just have to be patient and be strong."
"Am I going to Mrs Jordan again?" I ask quietly.
Mrs Jordan was my old therapist at some rehab center for the kids like me. She was very sweet and tried her best to talk me through it. Medication became a thing and I'm taking pills but they don't help as much as they used to... before number four.. so I stopped taking them.
"No Nico, unless you want to. There's a new place an hour or so out of town. Would you like to try it out?" She suggested.
"You don't have to do that for me." I sigh but she shook her head.
"Don't you dare give me that. I will do anything to keep you happy Nico... Anything." She smiles sadly, and I could see her eyes glisten a bit.
"Please don't cry mamá." I say, hugging her tightly.
"I'm not crying." She sniffles.
I sigh, and we just sit there holding each other for a little while.
~ time skip by two days ~
My dad brought me to the rehab place the first time. He was a quiet man so he walked me in, filled out necessary paperwork and left to go do whatever dad's do when he found out this is gonna take like two hours. My papá is odd, very odd but very caring. He's a pretty cool dad, able to provide the most epic comebacks and side comments when you think he isn't listening. I love him, best papá I could ask for.
"Nico is it?" A lady came walking up to me.
I nod, silent. She gave me a smile and shook my hand.
"I'm Dr Skylar, it's very nice to meet you even though the reason may not be the best." She said. "We'll do the best we can to help. I'm not sure if you know but we have a recovery group going on now if you want to join or if you'd like to have a private session for today." She smiles.
"The group is okay I guess." I say quietly.
"No need to be shy Nico, these teens are kind, they help eachother after traumatic experiences." Dr Skylar says as we walked down a hallway. "They talk together, the supervisor, Adrien, asks questions, helps you think. It'll be good for you."
"I hope so." I sigh.
"I'm sorry, I'm being rude, rushing you into things like this." She apologizes.
I get a flashback to the morning which made me shudder. Moving too fast, Nico. It's too fast.
"Let's have a me and you chat in my office before I introduce you to the group. I want to get to know you better." She says.
"You don't have to say sorry." I shrug. "I'm alright with whatever.."
"Every choice here is yours Nico. Except for this one, cause I think it'd be best for both of us if we talked." She offered.
"Okay.. that's fine I guess." I say awkwardly.
Dr Skylar smiles and we go into her office. She had her big desk by the window, lots of papers and a computer set up on it. In front of the desk were two cozy chairs faced the other way at a big cushioned couch. A bookshelf lined one wall while a whiteboard hung on the other.
I sat on the couch as she sat in a chair across from me. We were silent for a while before my mind didn't become as quiet.
Like she'll help you... as if.
You're better off on your own.
Stop wishing for prince charming.
You're all alone Nico.
Please not now.
It's dark and cold. The sky is cloudy and the water is blood.
I can't do this now. Not here. Not yet. It's too early, she might freak. Just like the other ones when they found out.
Now why would you say other ones when there were only two? Only two poor souls who stumbled across your path and made your life so much more miserable.
"Nico? Are you listening?"
"It's too loud." I groan, covering my ears.
"What's too loud?" She asks.
"There's a v-voice... it doesn't shut up." I mumble. "Medicine helped for a while before I stopped taking it."
"I'm sorry. I wanted to see how you'd react to silence. It's a check I do with all my patients. Not many have it." Dr Skylar said.
Of course not a lot of people have it. I'm the freak. As always.
"I guess the group would be best for you then, keep your mind busy." She smiles. "Everyone has their thing. Yours is silence, others is work, my nephew hates not having work to do." She chuckles.
"Nephew?" I ask.
She nods. "I think he's gonna be in the group today. He pops in every now and then but recently there's been an accident.." She sighs. "My sister thought it'd be best for him to come here more often."
"I'm sorry to hear that.." I say.
"Oh no its fine. I'm over here rambling. He's your age ya know, maybe you two will be friends." She grins as we leave the office to go to another room.
She opened the door and it was a big room with some cool things. A couple tvs, game systems and all than stuff. About half a dozen teens sat on bean bag chairs laid out in a circle.
"Guys, this is Nico, he'll be joining today."
I didn't hear her.
I didn't pay attention to them.
I didn't care about the room.
All I cared about was that pair of chocolate eyes looking back at me, that stupid grin and messy hair I wanna just run my hands through.
Leo Valdez.
Sitting right in front of me.
"So that's what your name is." He smiles.
