Impress Him
Clouds are marching along
Singing a song, just like they do
If the clouds were singing a song
I’d sing along, wouldn’t you too?
If you just knew what they could do
Oh, if you just knew, what would they do?
And if the birds were just all the words flying along
Singing a song what would they do?
If they just knew what they could do
Oh, if they just knew

“Why do you always get the window seat?” Bree grumbled.
“Why do you care? You don’t even like airplane rides!” Landon told her and she crossed her arms.
“I’d like them a little more if I ever actually got to sit in the damn window seat,” They were glaring at each other now and I shrunk back in my sink at all the venomous looks the three of us were getting from other passengers.
“Shut up,” I hissed to them. “You’re drawing attention. We’re lucky if we don’t get black listed from this airlines!”
“I’m just saying that Landon shouldn’t be so selfish all the…”
“Bree should just take a chill pill and be grateful that I’m reuniting her with the love of her life and let me sit in the window seat,” He raised an eyebrow at her, daring her to say anything back to him. Bree blushed and nervously laughed.
“What window seat?” She asked innocently and Landon smirked. With a sigh I turned back to my magazine and let my eyes drift over the words on the pages, not really reading them. I tried to distract myself but it wasn’t working. Everything I did just brought me back to him.
As I turned the page I saw an ad that read ‘Reading is Magic’ my vision blurred at the words. Brendon had once worn a little purple bracelet that said the exact same thing. With burning eyes I hastily shut the magazine closed and tried to close my eyes to sleep. After a while my body gave in and I drifted off…
“What is this place?” I gasped shocked by it’s beauty.
“My most favorite place in the world,” He smiled brightly at me and I stood in awe looking all around me. “My dad, when I was little, once took me here. I was obsessed with the outdoors back then, I guess I still kind of am. Anyway, we accidently stumbled across here and from then on it became a little safe haven. I would come here when I was happy, sad, upset or when I just needed to be alone. Anytime really… It’s been a while since I’ve been here.”
“Wait, you lived in California before?” I asked him.
“No,” He shook his head. “But I visited a lot. My mom grew up here and all of us have always loved California. It just made sense to move here. It took a lot of convincing for Ryan’s parents to come along.”
I slid my shoes off and sighed as my feet came in contact with the cool grass beneath my feet. Slowly walking forward, I made my way to the small waterfall that was partially hidden behind a canopy of trees. Reaching out hesitantly, I smiled as the fresh water danced gently across my skin. Grinning, I turned around and bent down to study the different varieties of flowers and plants. I’d never think that a place like this would exist in California.
“Do you like it?” He asked softly and I turned around with a big smile.
“I love it,” I told him. “It’s so peaceful and beautiful here.”
“I know. Sometimes, it seems impossible for me to leave this place.”
“I agree,” I nodded. “There’s something about this place that just makes me feel so…”
“Happy? Safe? Peaceful?” He supplied.
“Yes, all of those things,” I said. “Do we have to leave already?”
“No,” He laughed a little through his nose. “We can stay here until the sun starts setting if you want.”
“I’d like that.”
“Alright,” He slipped off his shoes and a beautiful smile shone across his face as his feet came into contact with the cool earth. He looked so young then. He looked happy. My heart ached for him at that moment. He had never looked more content then he did right now. He started to lie down and he beckoned me over. Joining him, we turned our bodies on our side to stare at each other.
We didn’t say anything. We gave ourselves over to the sounds of nature and lost ourselves in the beauty of the small little place of heaven on earth. We lay there just studying each other… finally I felt something snap in me. I felt trust. Trust for him.
“Thank you,” I whispered afraid to break the little bubble that we created.
“You’re welcome,”

“Izzy, it’s time to wake up, babe,” I felt my shoulder being shaken. When my eyes opened, Bree, Landon and the smell of fresh coffee greeted me. I looked around confused at the change in scenery. We were in our hotel.
“What,” My voice was thick with sleep and I coughed a bit to clear it. “When did we get here?”
“You were barely awake when the plane landed,” Bree laughed. “It took us forever just to get you to stand up and head to baggage claim. I’m not surprised that you didn’t remember anything. Landon basically piggy backed you to the cab and then up to our suite when we arrived at the hotel.”
“Yeah my back is killing me,” He groaned and slumped down on the bed at my feet.
“Sorry,” I shrugged. Bree and Landon’s eyes widened. “What?”
“No witty come-back?” Landon gasped.
“Jeez, that’s a first,” Bree said shocked. “Usually, you’d be making a joke about Landon being fat or weak; something… anything.”
I just looked at them with a ‘what do you expect’ kind of expression and reached for the coffee on the nightstand. “Thanks for this,” I said to both of them.
“What’s going on, love?” Bree asked and I flinched at her nickname. She raised an eyebrow and looked at me confused. “What?”
“Nothing,” I shook it off. “I guess I’m just nervous about today,” I said honestly. “Really, what can I expect? What if he’s there? What if he sees me? I don’t know if I can…”
“No,” Landon cut me off with a glare. “There’s no way you’re backing out now. We’ve come all the way here. It’s time we deal with this Izzy.”
“But what if he doesn’t… I don’t know. Feel the same way?”
“How can you even think that?” Landon asked me. “Izzy, seriously, back in highschool people who didn’t know either of you could take one look and just know that the two of you were in love. Everyone could see it.”
“But that was high school,” I said and he narrowed his eyes at me.
“A love like that doesn’t go away easily, Iz. Not even after four years,” Bree nodded at this.
“Fine,” I gave up. “But when you guys finally accept that I’m right… I’ll be waiting with a big steaming bowl of I told you so…”
“Hey,” Landon said. “Did you know ‘I told you so’ has a brother?”
“What?”
“Yeah,” He smiled at my confusion. “His name is ‘Shut the hell up’.”
“Ha!” Bree snorted. “You totally stole that from the Simpson’s,” But she high-fived him anyway.
“So… how does this whole contest thing work?” I asked Landon while sipping on my coffee.
“Spencer didn’t tell me much but they said that this contest was only given out to limited people.”
“So by limited do you mean that there won’t be a lot of fans there?” Bree asked.
“He said that there’s only going to be about 100 or so of you,” Landon shrugged.
“Damn…” I sighed and shook my head. I’m up against 100 people. What the hell was I going to do?
*--------*
“Alright people!” A woman dressed in a Panic! At The Disco t-shirt and skinny jeans called into the microphone. A group of people behind her, two men and another woman, stood behind her smiling brightly at us. Immediately the crowd quieted down and turned their attention on her.
“I still can’t believe we’re here,” I whispered quietly to them. We were currently standing in line at some building I still couldn’t remember the name to.
“I know and it’s going to take us forever just to get there!” Bree groaned.
“How is everybody doing?” She asked. The crowd began screaming loudly and she laughed a bit. “My name is Tristan and I’m going to be hosting this little contest. Now, pay extra attention to this alright?”
Bree leaned in and I could literally hear the wheels turning in her head.
“We,” She gestured to everyone behind her. “Have a big surprise for all of you. There are going to be,” She paused for dramatic effect. “Not one, not two, not even three winners but… FOUR WINNERS!” The crowd went crazy and started yelling excitedly and I could see people jumping up and down with their friends and squealing. “Now, it took some convincing on our part but we finally got them to accept. So you all should be thanking us,” Again the crowd roared with screams and hollers. “There you go! So, here’s the thing. I’m sure you’re all wondering why four? Well that’s easy… Each of the four champs will get to choose whom of the four members of Panic! They want to spend the whole… entire day with!” Even I was getting a little excited now. If I won… It would just be Brendon and I. I’d get to see him again.
*----*
“Hello all! My name is Trey and if you’re interested in spending the day with Spencer Smith follow me,” A guy with spiky hair and a nose piercing said to the crowd. People began rushing over each other to follow after Trey. It was chaotic. I’m pretty sure I saw some people falling down.
“I’m going to go with them,” Landon said loudly over the cheering. “I haven’t spoken to Spencer in forever,” He quickly gave us hugs and hurried on after them. I had almost forgotten how close Landon and Spencer were in high school.
“I’m Gina and if you want to spend the day with Jon Walker, form a straight and orderly line behind me,” She smiled sweetly at the crowd and they did as she asked. Yeah, that was a better way to go about things.
“Alright, I’m Rick,” A deep voice said into the mic. “If you’re going for Ryan Ross please follow me and I’ll take you to your first activity,” When he saw the crowd rushing after him his eyes widened and he held out his hands. “Neatly please.”
“Alright I guess that’s me,” Bree gave me a nervous smile. “Wish me luck?”
“You don’t need it,” I hugged her tightly and she whispered a thanks. When she was gone, as well as the rest of the Ryan group, Tristan stepped up to the mike.
“Well, looks like there’s a lot of people here for Brendon… Shocking,” The crowd laughed at her sarcasm. I had to admit even I cracked a smile. “Well, let’s get this show on the road! You all will be following me,” I looked nervously around at the 30 other people that surrounded me as we walked.
What have I gotten myself into?
“Now since you’re my group… I’m going to let you in on a little secret,” She didn’t turn around to face us and kept walking down the hallway. “If you want to win, It’s not me who you want to impress but,” He opened the door. “Him.”
“Holy shit,” The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them.

I know it’s sad that I never gave a damn about the weather
And it never gave a damn about me
I know it’s sad that I never gave a damn about the weather
And it never gave a damn about me
No, it never gave a damn about me
I know it’s mad but if I go to hell
Will you come with me or just leave?
I know it’s mad but if the world were ending
Would you kiss me or just leave me?
Just leave me?
