9. REALIZATION

I was in Jungkook's dorm, lounging on the sofa while waiting for him to return. Suddenly, someone tapped my shoulder. I turned to find Taehyung, with his vibrant blue hair and that signature rectangular grin. "Hey y/n, looking for Kookie?" he asked.

I nodded, returning the smile. "Your hair looks great!"

"Thanks! Why don't you come with me in the meantime? I have something to show you." He gave me an evil smirk that set off alarm bells in my head.

For a moment, I hesitated, but my curiosity got the better of me. I followed him as he sneaked into Jungkook's room and pulled out an album from the cupboard like a magician revealing his tricks.

"Uh, don't you think you should take Jungkook's permission?" I raised an eyebrow, but Taehyung just waved his hand dismissively.

"Y/n-ah, you're an Army! You should know my character by now. I'm not so formal. I'm a free spirit! Permission is for the weak!" He laughed triumphantly.

He was right. I had forgotten that he was the mischievous member of Bangtan. Teasing Jungkook was practically a sport for him. I couldn't help but smile and joined Taehyung on Jungkook's bed, ready for the fun.

"This album contains pictures of Kookie when he was a child," he said dramatically, leaning closer. "He has some embarrassing pictures, you know?"

I giggled, my excitement bubbling over. "I'm desperate to see this!"

"He never shows this to anyone, not even us," Taehyung explained, flipping the pages like he was unveiling a masterpiece. "But Jimin and I found it when he was dead asleep. Thanks to Overwatch!"

The first picture revealed a cute little boy with big puppy eyes and two prominent bunny teeth. I gasped. "Is that Kookie?"

"Yup!" Taehyung confirmed, nodding vigorously. "Adorable, right?"

The next picture showed Jungkook in various cute poses, and I couldn't help but coo over them. I also came across a his naked baby picture. But then, Taehyung flipped to the last picture, and my heart skipped a beat. It was a photo of a grown-up Jungkook, his face red and eyes puffy from crying.

"This picture was taken by Jin Hyung very recently," Taehyung explained, barely able to contain his laughter. "Kookie was crying because the manager had scolded him. He had stolen this picture from Jin. Classic Kookie."

"Why are you showing me this?" I asked, trying to catch my breath from laughing so hard.

"Because you are my sister!" Taehyung declared with dramatic flair.

My eyes widened in surprise. "You know what? I always wanted an Oppa but never had one. Can we share a brother-sister relationship? Like brother from a different mother?" I said shyly, unsure of how he would react.

"Is that even a question?" He pinched my nose playfully. "You are my most precious dongsaeng!" I beamed at him, feeling all warm inside.

But just then, I heard a loud cough behind me. Taehyung's face paled as he stammered, "L-lo-ok, J-Jung...k-kook... I d-don't mean..."

I turned around to find Jungkook standing at the door, a look of pure fury on his face. He was pulling up his sleeves, and I instantly recognized that this was serious.

"Hyung!! You. Are. So. Dead," Jungkook growled, tilting his head dangerously while cracking his knuckles. My heart raced. It was a little too much to handle.

Taehyung's face turned a ghostly white. "Mianhae..." he squeaked, before bolting out of the room like a cat fleeing from a dog.

"YOU CAN'T RUN FOREVER!" Jungkook yelled after him, but Taehyung was already out of sight, and all I could do was watch the chaos unfold.

I couldn't help but burst into laughter as Jungkook chased after him, the sound of their antics echoing in the hallway. "This is priceless!" I exclaimed to myself.

But just as I settled back into the couch, Jungkook returned, panting and glaring at me. "Are you in on this too, y/n?"

I raised my hands defensively, trying to suppress my giggles. "No, I swear! I was just a bystander!"

He crossed his arms, trying to look serious, but the corner of his mouth twitched up. "A bystander who laughed at my misery?"

"Maybe a little," I admitted, grinning.

Jungkook shook his head, trying to suppress a smile. "You two are impossible."

I leaned back against the couch, grinning widely. "But it's so much fun! Next time, let's take pictures of you to balance things out!"

Jungkook's eyes widened in horror. "Absolutely not!"

And just like that, the chaos transformed into laughter, reminding me how much fun it was to be around them. I thought to myself that maybe a little teasing wasn't so bad after all.

Present

Author's Pov

Taehyung stormed into Jungkook's room, his presence demanding attention. He spotted Jungkook and Jimin sitting on the bed, deep in conversation. The atmosphere was thick with unresolved tension.

"How could you say those words to Y/n?! What were you thinking?!" Taehyung's voice boomed, reverberating off the walls.

"Hyung, I did what I thought was right," Jungkook replied, his tone low and his eyes fixed on the floor, refusing to meet Taehyung's gaze.

"You did what you thought was right? What about Y/n? Do you even care about her feelings?!" Taehyung's voice escalated, the disappointment clear in his tone.

"So, now you're defending her?" Jungkook shot back, his frustration boiling over. He glared at Taehyung, anger flaring at the thought that his hyung was siding with someone else against him.

"Taehyung—" Jimin started, trying to mediate the situation.

But Taehyung cut him off, his patience worn thin. "You don't know anything!" he barked at Jimin, his eyes still locked on Jungkook, who was visibly struggling with his emotions.

"He told me," Jimin clarified, trying to keep the peace.

"Then stay out of the way!" Taehyung warned, a fierce protectiveness emanating from him. Jimin sensed the storm brewing and wisely chose to stay silent, feeling the intensity of the moment.

"Jungkook, you know what the problem with you is?!" Taehyung shouted, his anger spilling over as he lost control. "YOU TAKE EVERYTHING FOR GRANTED. YOU THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU GET EVERYTHING, YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU LIKE WITH IT!" He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in. "Remember, Y/n. is. not. a. toy. I thought you would change after meeting her. But you're hopeless!"

Jungkook's expression flickered, caught between defiance and guilt. "I... I didn't mean it like that, Tae," he stammered, struggling to find the right words. "I just—"

"You just what?" Taehyung interrupted, his voice laced with frustration. "You just let your jealousy get the best of you? You think that acting like this will solve anything? You think it's okay to lash out at the person who cares about you the most?"

Jungkook finally looked up, his eyes narrowing. "You don't understand! I was scared. I didn't want to lose her to someone else. Hyung, you don't know how it feels."

Taehyung remained firm. "I know how it feels, Jungkook. We all do. But that doesn't give you the right to hurt her. You need to talk to her, not push her away."

Jimin, sensing the opportunity, chimed in. "Kookie, it's not too late to apologize. Just think about how you'd feel if someone said those things to you."

Jungkook looked down, his silence echoing in the room. Jimin, sensing the heaviness in the air, felt a pang of sympathy for him. "Taehyung, that's enough for now..." he tried to calm his friend's rising anger.

"Enough, you say, Jimin?! Y/n was crying! Are you listening, Jungkook? YOU. MADE. HER. CRY." Taehyung's voice rose, sharp and unyielding, as he confronted Jungkook head-on.

Jungkook suddenly looked up, a flicker of worry crossing his face. For a moment, he seemed to grasp the weight of his actions. But just as quickly, he returned to his previous blank gaze, retreating into himself.

"I won't forgive anyone who hurts my sister," Taehyung continued, his voice steadier now but still laced with anger. He had to make Jungkook understand the gravity of the situation.

In the silence that followed, Jungkook sat like a stone, a blank expression plastered on his face. His mind raced, a whirlwind of confusion and regret. He replayed the words he had said to Y/n, each one cutting deeper than the last.

Jimin gave Taehyung a 'I'll manage look'. Taehyung left the room without any further words. The door banged behind him.

Jimin gave Taehyung an "I'll manage" look. Taehyung left the room without any further words. The door banged behind him.

*Time Skip*

Taehyung was memorizing his vocals when Jimin entered. "How is Jungkook?" his voice was low.

"He is asleep. But he hasn't spoken since then," Jimin answered.

Taehyung nodded. "Did he eat?"

"Yes, hardly four or five spoonfuls of rice."

Taehyung sighed and massaged his temples. "I guess I was too rude to him...."

"Hey, it's okay. He is fine now. Don't feel guilty. Even I admit Jungkook was wrong this time. But that boy... he's too stubborn." The angel in Jimin was doing his job.

"Jimin, we shouldn't let Namjoon or the other hyungs know about this. They have other problems to take care of. Our world tour is next month. We don't want to add unnecessary tension." Jimin nodded in agreement.

"Who is stressed?" Both of them flinched as they were caught off guard by Jin. "It seems like the kids have learned to hide things."

Jimin quickly took hold of the situation. "Hyung, it's nothing! Taehyung is just having a stomach ache, right Tae?" He raised an eyebrow at Taehyung. Taehyung quickly got the message and nodded with a wide smile.

Jin furrowed his eyebrows. "Why do I smell a lie in here?"

"Why would you? We're telling the truth, I swear!" Tae made a swearing gesture.

"Fine! How many times do I need to tell you not to eat so much chicken?! Take the medicine and go to sleep. Kids should not be awake at this hour."

"WE ARE NOT KIDS!!" the 95 liners retorted.

*Two weeks latter*

Jungkook's Pov

I was still angry with Y/n. We hadn't talked since. These days were exhausting. There wasn't a single day I didn't miss her. I had grown accustomed to her voice and caring nature. It was hard for me to move on. Sometimes I felt like returning to her, but I knew I shouldn't—she had her Hyun.

I indulged myself in work to distract my thoughts. My profession shouldn't be affected by my personal life. Armies deserved my smile; they did so much for us. I worked myself to death over the past two weeks, completing almost three songs for my mixtape.

Finally, I had some time off, so I came to meet my old friend, Lia. She was also a solo kpop idol working under the YG Entertainment. We hadn't seen each other in a long time, as we both got busy after graduation. I waved at her when she entered the café.

"Hi, Jungkook! You've grown so handsome these days!" she beamed.

I nervously scratched my nape. "Thanks, you look pretty too."

"How's life going?"

"Let's not talk about that. Too much workload. What about your boyfriend? How are you two doing?"

"We're doing fine. YG actually let me date him." I swear I saw hearts in her eyes.

We had some chitchat before she left. She was no less busy than I was. As I stepped out of the café, the fresh air hit me, but it did little to clear the heaviness in my chest. I had just spent a pleasant but distracting hour with Lia, catching up on old times and reminiscing about our shared childhood. Her laughter had been infectious, but as soon as she left, the weight of my unresolved feelings came crashing back.

I turned to see Jimin leaning against the wall with that teasing smirk he always wore when he had something to say. "Had a nice time with your girlfriend?" he asked, raising an eyebrow in playful accusation.

My confusion was immediate. "What are you saying, Hyung?! Lia is not my girlfriend. You know we're childhood friends." I felt a flicker of defensiveness rise within me.

Jimin shrugged, that knowing look still plastered across his face. "Don't give excuses, Kookie. She was so close to you, and you didn't object. That means you enjoy her presence."

His words hung in the air, and I felt a rush of frustration. "We're just close friends. That's it! I—" But then it hit me like a bolt of lightning. Y/n's face, her smile, the warmth of her presence. Suddenly, I froze, realizing the parallel Jimin was drawing.
