5. BALANCE
Jungkook's Pov
Jimin was in the shower, and I was stretched out on the bed, mindlessly scrolling through Twitter. (A/n: I know what chimes are thinking!🌚🌚)
Hmmm... I noticed #Jungkook was trending. A smirk crept onto my face as I read the Armys' posts. "Woo! JK, just wait there. I'm putting on my wedding gown. Be at your door in five minutes!" one fan had written. I couldn't help but chuckle.
"HELL YEAH, my bride is coming!" I thought, dramatically pretending to respond in my head. "Let's make Y/n jealous! By the way... what is she doing all alone in that room? I could be a creep and sneak into her room, I am her boyfriend. " I grinned mischieviously.
Suddenly, my inner monologue was rudely interrupted by a loud knock on the door. Uh-oh.
"Come in," I called out, quickly trying to look like I wasn't just being a total goofball. Namjoon hyung walked in, clearing his throat dramatically.
"What brings you here, hyung?" I asked, trying to sound casual while resuming my scrolling on Twitter like nothing had happened.
"Jungkook," he said in that tone. The one that meant trouble. "Look at me."
I froze, slowly lifting my eyes from the phone. Oh no, it's serious Namjoon hyung. He had that leader mode look, and everyone knew things got scary when his leader mode was activated. I gulped, trying to remember what I might've done wrong in the last... five minutes? Hour? Week?
"What did I do?" I muttered, blinking up at him like a puppy caught stealing snacks.
We were silent for a moment before he finally spoke. "Are you sure you're going to continue with this relationship?"
I was confused. "Hyung, what do you mean?"
"You know what I'm trying to say."
"You don't like Y/n, right? It's okay, for you, I-I can break up with her." I wasn't prepared for this and I definitely wasn't stuttering in panic. "BTS is always the p-priority. But Y/n is really a good g-girl. She'll understand my situation. She never even wanted to be my girlfriend in the first place. She was afraid it would affect my career. I was the one who forced her."
I looked down, my eyes stinging with unshed tears. The words spilled out, but inside, I was screaming. BTS had come too far. My bandmates had endured too many sleepless nights to achieve everything we had. I couldn't be the one to break that. BTS is not BTS without a single member. I knew Y/n would be hurt, and the thought tore my heart into shreds, but she deserved better. She deserved someone who could give her everything, and I couldn't—not without risking everything we had worked for.
Namjoon sighed. "Jungkook, I'm not telling you to break up." My eyes sparkled with uncertain hope. "I'm telling you to balance both sides. You can't let your personal life interfere with your career... Remember, it was our dream to become worldwide famous? We can't forget that. There's still so much more for us to achieve."
"I understand..." I said, fighting back my tears.
"Can you keep up with both?"
My eyes widened in surprise. "S-So you're saying I can continue this relationship? I don't have to break up?!"
Namjoon's lips curled into a smile, his dimples showing. "As your hyung, I want you to enjoy your love life and be a great boyfriend. But as the leader of BTS, I want you to be a perfect star."
"I get it, hyung. I promise to balance both sides equally." I nearly bounced in my seat, relieved. I felt confident I could be both—a perfect boyfriend and a perfect star.
Namjoon stood up and ruffled my hair before heading to the door. "Good night, Kookie!"
"Good night to you too, Rapmon hyung." I smiled and felt the weight lift off my chest as I finally drifted off to sleep, just as Jimin came out of the bathroom.
Y/n's Pov
It was almost 2 am, and I was still half-awake. I was too excited and happy to sleep. I tossed and turned on the comfy mattress. Hmmm... smells like BTS. I snuggled my face deeper into the pillow. Now, don't ask me what the 'BTS smell' is—it just is! Oh my god, I was sleeping on the same pillow as the members! I buried my face into it, muffling a squeal to stop myself from exploding with excitement.
Suddenly, I heard the doorknob turn, and someone crept into the room. Wait... was that Jungkook? I squinted, trying to make out the shadowy figure. Nope. Too tall, and a little leaner. Then who? Jin? Nah, definitely shorter than Jin. Who could it be?
The shadowy figure kept rustling around. Oh no, was it a thief? A shiver ran down my spine, goosebumps prickling my arms. I slowly crept out of bed, my mind racing. Of all things, no weapon, not even a BTS lightstick?! I was doomed.
I took two cautious steps forward, trying to focus on the figure, but lost sight of them. Squinting harder didn't help either. Suddenly, I turned around and—BAM!—ran straight into them.
"AAAAAHHHHH!" We both screamed in unison. His voice was deep and husky—definitely not Jungkook.
"JUNGKOOK-AHHH!" I shrieked, clapping my hands over my eyes like a child.
The door flew open, and the light flicked on. I peeked through my fingers and saw Jungkook and Jimin standing there, eyes wide. I bolted toward Jungkook and wrapped my arms around him like a lifeline, burying my face in his chest, trying to calm my hammering heart.
"It's okay... I'm here," he murmured softly, patting my back. I felt his lips press gently against my head.
"Taehyung! What are you doing here?!" Jimin's voice rang out, part astonished, part annoyed.
"What do you mean, 'What are you doing here?!'" Taehyung shot back, mimicking Jimin's tone perfectly. "This is my room! Who is she?! What is she doing here?!"
I peeked out from Jungkook's chest. Taehyung stood there, looking utterly baffled, pointing dramatically at me like I'd stolen his favorite snack... well room in my case.
"I'll explain everything," Jimin groaned, rubbing his temples. "Just come to JK's room. You're sleeping with us tonight."
"But this is my room!" Taehyung pouted, glaring at me like I'd just stolen his bed or something.
Before he could throw a full-blown tantrum, Jimin grabbed him by the arm and dragged him out of the room. "Come on, drama queen."
"Who's the drama queen?!" Taehyung grumbled, still glaring at me as the door shut behind them.
I blinked, trying to process what had just happened. Wait... am I in Kim Taehyung's room?! I turned to Jungkook in pure despair. "You said this was an extra room!" I threw my hands dramatically into the air.
"It was!" He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "But only for today. Tae wasn't supposed to come back! Actually, this room belongs to Taehyung and Jimin hyung."
I sighed heavily. "You're hopeless, Kook."
"Now, what was I supposed to do if he arrives without notifying anyone?!" He shot back defensively, his eyes widening as if I was blaming him for Taehyung's spontaneous existence. I rolled my eyes.
"Y/n?"
"Hmm?" I raised an eyebrow, waiting for what would come next.
"I... uh... Do you... maybe want me to stay? I mean, not in a weird way!" His cheeks turned pink, and he started stammering. "I just... want to make sure you sleep well, that's all."
I couldn't help but smile. He was such a baby sometimes. Who overthinks so much before talking to their own girlfriend? It was adorable.
"Thank you, Kookie, but I'm really okay. You don't need to worry about me," I reassured him, smiling softly.
"Well... okay then, good night." He let out a sigh of relief, like he just dodged a life-threatening situation. Poor guy—he really needed time to adjust. I knew his insecurities, and I was ready to give him as much time as he needed. As long as he loved and trusted me, I was happy.
"Sleep tight, Kookie." He leaned down and kissed my forehead before turning to leave the room.
....To be continued....
