Chapter eight,

all the things he said

▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂

The cafe wasn't busy as it usually always was, so far she remained on the other side of the counter, she was left fiddling with her fingernails out of her own boredom, as her boss had spoken to her from being on the other side of the place.

Sarah shouting, "It seems that everyone decided to make coffee at home. . ." A slight chuckle escaped her lips, "This place is quite empty today." She breathed out.

Usually, they'd already have people in the bakery, but it was quiet for the past two hours only one customer arrived earlier, and that was it.

   Citlali yawned, "It really is."

Sarah out of her own curiosity questioned her, "Did Carmen close yesterday night?" She lightly shouted.

Citlali began to panic because Carmen practically left and made her to be the one to close, so out of instinct she lied, "Yeah, she did. . . I left before her." Nervously chuckled and began to play around with her hair out of nervousness.

Sarah had detected the nervousness in Citlali's voice as she spoken, again, "Don't you lie to me, Citlali. I'm fully aware that Carmen has recently been quite rude towards you, so I'm asking you, again. . . Did she even close last night or was it you?" She retorted.

Citlali had sighed that she ultimately got caught in her web of lies, "It was me. . . Well, technically Anika helped me." She corrected herself.

Sarah remained silent, and processing everything. She was aggravated that no matter who she hires they all end up treating Citlali, so terrible. A part of her couldn't even grasp that people are genuinely this rude.

Citlali had began to get nervous, "Are you mad?" She anxiously bit onto her bottom lip, she always despised when people were angry at her.

"No, I'm not mad at you. . ." Sarah replied back, exhaling her breath, "It just seems that I need to do better background checks on people that I simply hire, it seems they were all raised by assholes who have no morals." Sarah had breathed out.

Citlali tapped her finger on the counter, speaking to her boss, "No one these days have morals, you just somehow learn to live with all of it. . ." She had sadly sighed, "You endure so much shitty words for so long, it somehow just gets easier. . . so, easy." She whispered that last part, again to herself quietly.

Perhaps, her boyfriend is right. She's too fucking sweet to the wrong people, and it needs to stop. But, it was a terrible habit of hers.

Her mom raised her to be kind.

Sarah kindly replied back, "while I do agree with your statement, darling. . . You need to start standing up for yourself," She had softly told her and wording things best as possible to her, "It doesn't hurt to stand your ground." She retorted.

She had been about to reply only for the sound of the cafe doors opening, bells ringing it was then she realized someone had entered the cafe.

A familiar voice was simply heard that rang through her own ears, "Good-morning, Citlali. How are you today?" Her lips curled upwards, it was one of her daily customers.

All she really had know about the male customer was that he has quite the extremely curly hair, and a smile to die for. It was what her boss would tell her, but again, she'd also tell her that she didn't like how the male looks at her.

Citlali smiled fondly to wherever he was standing by, as she really wasn't going to admit that her morning was interesting by some unknown caller, so she lied to him, "I've been great today, Matt. The usual today, or do you prefer something out of your comfort zone today?" She immediately raised her eyebrow.

"The usual," He answered.

Sarah had made way into her view that caught the male's immediate attention, "I'm going to step out to the back to smoke, I'll be back." She told Citlali.

Citlali smiled, "Okay. Have fun!"

Sarah had quickly shifted her own eyes towards the curly head male, as she began making her way out the cafe. She had instantly noticed the way he was eying Citlali, and it was making her uncomfortable. She has never once liked him coming in here, but he seemed like no harm. Right?

The cafe was extremely silent until he had broken the silence, especially since Sarah was now gone and no interruptions, "So how about that date?" He questioned Citlali.

Citlali lightly chuckled, "I have a boyfriend, Matt. The guy that I've told you about. . . You remember?" She casually reminded, as she was preparing his coffee.

Ethan clenched his jaw, clenching his own hands into fists. He was so damn fucking tired of listening about his stupid roommate, what was so attractive about Chad? He was a stupid jock with a fucking conceited personality, yet he always has to hear him ranting about Citlali and how much he loves her, I mean did he even know the definition of love?

Out of anger he snarled, "That dumb jock with a conceited personality?"

Citlali paused in her movements, a frown appeared on her lips, "He's not dumb, or even so conceited. He's a very sweet guy and beyond caring." A smile had appeared on her lips as she was describing her boyfriend.

She immediately heard footsteps, and someone approaching right behind her, "I can treat you better than he can. . ." He pressed himself against her body that had ultimately made her uncomfortable, "He won't be able to protect you like me." He began to sooth her arms.

Citlali nervously chuckled at this uncomfortable statement. She immediately began to move away from him only to feel him gripping her arm, "Please, let go. Matt you're hurting me, boundaries. . . please." She had exhaled.

His grip tightened on her arm, "Break up with him, and I'll consider letting go." He had snarled into her face.

"I'm not going to ever break up with him, I love him. . ." She breathed out, she felt her eyes getting watery at the harsh grip, he was simply twisting her arm, that made her legs weak as she taken her free hand and slapped him in the face, "Stop it!" She screamed.

He was furious.

So out of his own instinct he had taken an empty mug that had no coffee, smashing it on her forehead, "You stupid bitch. . ." He had screamed directly at her face as he harshly began shoving her away, all while she held her face, sobbing hysterically at the impact, "You stupid bitch, you're nothing but a whore!" He yelled once, again.

Citlali's lips quivered, shouting in desperation for her boss, "Sarah! Sarah!" Her voice was cracking.

She had instantly felt blood beginning to trickledown her forehead, all while his widened at what he done, approaching her, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. Citlali, please don't be mad." His eyes softened.

Citlali immediately flinched and backing away from him, "Don't touch me, don't touch me. . ." Her body was just trembling, "Sarah!" She screamed once, again.

Sarah had instantly ran inside after hearing her name being shouted , "What's going on in here?" Her eyes had roamed around the entire area and had seen her friend laying on the floor and her forehead bloody and a shattered mug on the ground, "What did you do?" She snarled at the boy.

He had instantly began to panic and had immediately ran out of the cafe, all while Sarah bent down to Citlali's level, the girl flinched at her touch, "It's just me, Citlali. I'm going to call the police." Sarah had just reassured as she had began to pull out her phone.

Citlali practically sobbed into her bosses shoulder, voice breaking, "Call my boyfriend first, please. Sarah? Call him first." Her lips had quivered, she was so terrified.

She wanted Chad here.

Sarah soothed her back, "I'm calling him, right now." Worrisome was laced in her voice, she shouldn't of ever left her friend here alone with that strange boy.

A familiar voice that belonged to her boyfriend as she heard him, "What's going on, Sarah?" He confusingly asked.

The last thing she had even heard in that conversation had been her boyfriend casually mumbling out that he was already on his way over to the cafe.
