Chapter nineteen: awake.
No one's Pov:
Silents rang across the room, everyone had their eyes on the -now awake and probably grumpy- god of destruction. Error looked oddly pale, and he seemed to have woken up in a cold sweat, but he continued to act as if nothing was wrong.
Sci tries to break the awkward silents. "E-Error! Y-your awake . . ."
"I know that." Error sits up in an attempted criss-cross position, seeing as his foot was attached to the bed, he gives Sci a blank look.
Sci didn't know why, but the feeling of embarrassment was starting to drag him down. "H-how long were you. . . er. . . awake?"
"long enough." Error smiles before continuing. "You were saying?"
"w-what-"
"go ahead, continue what you were going to say about the 'CHECK'. I won't judge you." Error's smile gradually got bigger as Sci's face started to look stupider.
"O-oh, uhh. . ." Sci hesitantly look over to Doc as he tries to regain his train of thought. 'Holly frick. I really don't want to be the one to get Error mad, but by the looks of things I don't get much of a choice.' Sci chooses his words very carefully. "I-it shows that we are m-missing a big chunk o-of Error's info. . . a-and maybe we should ask m-more questions and study h-him more when he, uhh wakes up. . ." Doc could see that Sci was now sweating bullets, and the expression on his face showed that he was terrified.
Doc's Pov:
I continue to nod as Sci finishes his forced report. I felt really bad for the poor guy, I didn't think that Sci is this scared of Error, I mean, we have full control over Error as long as he couldn't escape. Hmm. . . speaking of which, I should ask why Error was so light weigh now that he is awake.
"Good, good. Umm. . . you can calm down know, I got the point." I say with a reassuring nod before turning to Error, who was staring blankly out the window. He wasn't even paying attention to what Sci was saying.
I follow his gaze, carefully studying his expression. Outside, there was the cliff where thousands of spikes rested at the bottom, they could impale anyone who dare fall from the cliffs edge. It wasn't a pretty sight, but the hospital was built near the cliff for that very reason.
I turn to Sci and Classic. "Hey Classic?"
He hums in response, so I continue. "I need you to go ask the Toriel here for some soup. and Sci, I need you go to the cafeteria and get a glass of water. Will you both do that for me?"
Sci gives me a grateful nod and Classic responded with a small 'k.' and with a short flash, they were both gone.
I look over to Error, now that we were alone I could ask some questions with a less chance of him getting uncomfortable. Quickly, I go sit at the foot of the bed. I click on my pen and start by writing 'Error sans' on the clipboard. he flinches, and looks down at the ground. "Ok Error, I'm going to ask some questions, is that ok with you?"
"No."
I pause, wondering if I should ask questions anyway. "If your worried that I'm going to use these questions against you, let me inform you that it is not my intention to do so. My name is Doc, my only job here is to help, not harm. Do you understand?" Error looks up at me, his multicolored eyes seemed to be searching me for threats.
Finally, Error shrugged his shoulders with a sigh. "Fine, what do you want to know?"
I smile at him. "When was the last time you've eaten?"
". . .eaten?"
I felt my smile disappear. "Um, yes. Do you not remember?"
Error seemed suddenly off. "I . . .I had some cereal with uh. . . Milk? Yes, milk and that was . . . about two or three days ago." Error looked back out the window, but instead of a blank look, he was frowning.
"What are you looking at?"
"what?"
"you are looking out the window, am I wrong?"
"well, no but-"
"then what is it?"
Error huffs in frustration. "I was just looking at the cliff. What else is there to look at?"
"does it remind you of anything?" I couldn't help it, I just had to ask. Since I am a doctor -and I went to college for this- I knew that the answer to this question would determine if Error was sane or not. This would be the proof.
Error looks back out the window, suddenly he looked sad, but there was a small smile across his face. ". . .It reminds me of Outertale, and how the stars looked the brightest near the cliffs edge . . ." Error close his eyes, as if imagining Outertales beautiful starry sky.
I've seen pictures Outertale and I've seen the sans maybe once or twice, but the emotion in Error's voice when he was talking about it was something I didn't expect from him, and honestly, nothing I've ever thought about when looking out the window.
Error opened his eyes and looks at me. " er. . .I go there in my free time." he adds.
"Wow Error, I had no idea you liked outertale that much." I turn to see Sci and Classic were both standing behind me, both carrying the things I had asked for.
Sci was looking at Error with a sudden interest, it was as if Error was a new species that he could not wait to study, and Classic had a big smile on his face.
"Heh, wow Doc, what did you do to make him talk?" Classic asked.
I take a moment to think about it. Honestly, I don't know what I did, but somehow I gained some form of trust. "Hm. I don't actually know . . ." I say, looking over to Error, but he wasn't looking at me.
Error's Pov:
I felt really dumb for telling Doc about Outertale, and even worse after Classic and Sci heard too. Angrily, I look down at my hands. They still had dry blood on the tips, but some of the scratches and bruises on them were surprisingly starting to heal.
I don't know why, but I started to feel bad for letting this happen to them. I mean, they are my hands, they deserve to be cut and bruised, don't they? They are the hands of a destroyer, a destroyer that killed millions. . . So many . . .
Suddenly, a new pair of hands grabbed mine. "Explain to me what this is. Now."
I look up to see that Doc was only Inches away from me, his hands were gripping mine, his gaze angry yet so calm. 'too close. . .' I felt my glitches start to act up. Quickly, I pull my hands away from him, scooting back until I felt my glitches calm down.
"Error. . ." Doc had a serious look on his face.
I quickly try to think up a reason for backing up like that. "Uhh . . .Well, it's not everyday I get kidnapped by the enemy. . ." I mumble.
A hand falls on my shoulder, and I jump in fear, quickly turning to hit who ever dared touch me, but Classic takes a step back before I could even get a good hit.
"Error. . . You must understand that we are the good guys. . ." Doc says, there was worry in his voice.
I couldn't help but laugh.
"Pffffff hahahaha!!!"
. . .They'll never know.
Sci walks over, setting the glass of water on the bed stand next to the soup. "What's so funny?" He asks with confused face.
I stop laughing. "Ha, Nothing." I say with a smile.
Doc frowns. "I don't understand, why the heck are you Laughing?"
"Cuz I can." >:(
I frown at him. He looks down at me but didn't look too happy. "Ugh, nevermind. I can't think today. Here, eat your soup." He hands me a bowl full of weird looking liquid.
I push it away, I wasn't in the mood to be poisoned right now.
*Time skip~ *
"Oh my stars Error eat the [freaking] soup." Classic and Sci had me pinned to the bed, while Doc was trying to feed me a spoonful of the weird stuff they had called, 'soup'.
"Ack! Never!" I yell. I was now angry due to the fact that Doc had spilled some soup onto my new sweater, and I didn't know if soup came out as easily as cereal. Heck, they might not even have a washing machine, and even if they do . . . Well, I don't want to be sweaterless for the rest of the day.
I continue to shove the bowl as far away as possible. "You owe me a new sweater!" I growl.
*Another time skip~ *
It had taken two hours of effort, but I had finally convinced them that it would take pigs to fly if they ever wanted me to eat their food.
Classic had gone back to help Fell with the 'find Blue' problem that has been going around, and Sci decided to stay here and just sleep in the room next door. To be honest, I expected Blue to have come out already. According to Classic all evidence shows that he locked himself inside his own home, yes I already knew that, but why is he not coming out? He should have been there to bounce around full of positivity with Ink and Dream by now.
When I escape, the first place Ima go is to Blue and make sure he's ok, but if he isn't, then it would take the multiverses dying breath to make me leave his side . . . Or Fate. . . I mean, he did do the same for me when I was. . . Not feeling well, and that's what friends are for, right?
It was now night time in Medictale, the moon was at its highest point and I was busy staring at the ceiling because sleeping just seemed to take to much effort, when I felt it. Quickly, I sit up and look around, seeing that there was no one here and that my foot was chained to the bed, (it was forbidding me to leave) I decide to do the obvious.
*inhale*
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-"
The door is then kicked down, and standing in its place was a Sci in pajamas and a lab coat. "WHAT??"
"I have to use the bathroom."
"Oh."
"Yea. What the heck do you expect me to do? Now free my foot." I say in demand.
Sci goes to turn on the lights, and then looks back at me. "Just your foot?"
"Just let me go! You don't have to take off the handcuffs keeping me from portaling away." I seriously needed to go to the bathroom.
"Fine! Fine." Sci walks over and pulls out a key, then unlocks the handcuffs that were holding my foot to the foot of the bed.
As soon as Sci was done I stand up. "so where is the closest restroom?" I ask, my hands were still handcuffed, but that was fine.
Sci opens the door and walks through. "Follow me." And so I follow him.
*Time skippppppppp*
After I was done using the restroom, (and yes I washed my hands.) I walk outside too see that Sci was still standing there, waiting for me. 'I wonder if I could outrun him. . .'
Sci turns to me, his expression was shadowed because of how dark it was right now. None of the lights in the hallways were turned on due to the fear of waking up other patients.
"Done?"
I nod.
"Ok then. Umm, I guess we should get going then." Sci says as he waits for me to walk ahead, but I ignore him.
There is something here with us.
"Error?"
I saw it. something that I never wanted to meet, no matter how much I wanted its eternal reward.
"Error!"
"What!?" I turn around to face him.
"Error, I think someone is dying. . ." Sci says, it only took me a second to realize he was shaking, and so was I.
I quickly try to steady myself as the feeling of a third person in the same hallway as us disappeared.
'That was fast. . .' I think as I turn around.
Scratch that- the feeling was still there.
And the third skeleton in the hallway was there too.
Sci runs away.
He ran away.
THAT IDIOT LEFT ME WITH THIS BASTARD.
"Why hello, Error. I see that you have been caught." Reaper says with a smile. "Heh, I read all about it in the multiverse news."
"What the crap do you want?" I say in annoyance.
"I want to know if your like Geno." Reaper says as he takes a step closer.
"The [Frick]-" Out of nowhere, and with no warnings whatsoever, Reaper grabs my face with both hands and squishes my cheeks.
(A/N:
