4. I Am the Apple Tree
Sibling 3:
Once there was a lonely apple tree
The miles stretch as far as you can see
I sit under the apples
Away from my shackles
Under the tree, as content, as could be
I am away from their fights
I sneak away during the nights
Divorce is now fated
By this point it's belated
Their relation is full of blacks and whites
When I rest my head against the tree,
I become what others can only see
I am a part of the plant
Don't you say I can't
You're just jealous of what I choose to be
Once there was a mulberry tree
But now it's as broken as could be
I stare at the stump
At its brown, wooden bump
Wondering if it made my tree carefree
I live near a lot of green, luscious trees
I don't often get to feel a strong breeze
The world is mostly cold
Warmth is more precious than gold
I never wait long for the next small freeze
Ukuleles sing at the break of dawn
Their sweet music calms every fawn
They soothe every flea
As relaxing as could be
Music more beautiful than a swan
I sneak away from their fights
I find sanctuary in the nights
I am the apple tree
That is what they see
I see them in their homes, bathed in their lights
The tree misses its friend
It will now feel lonely until the end
I am filled with regret
My forehead is bathed in sweat
This is something I cannot mend
Once there was a lonely apple tree
The miles stretch as far as you could see
I sit under the apples
Away from my shackles
Under the tree, as content, as could be
