Alejandro was such a strange man, he seemed to be bipolar, sometimes he was rude and unbearable, and at other times he was kind and a gentleman. That constant mood change left me confused and totally enraged. Camila had glared at him a thousand times to draw his attention during lunch because of his rude remarks towards me and because of his bad taste jokes.
Sinu, in turn, was a lovely person, she had talked to me about many things during lunch, and she wanted Camila and I to meet the rest of the family as soon as possible. I had smiled awkwardly and told her that we would soon.
Sofia... I really adored that kid. She was too smart for her age, she could talk about absolutely everything, she was funny and apparently she adored me. We had talked about everything, and I invited her to spend Friday with me and Camila, and she accepted.
After lunch with my future in-laws and sister-in-law, Camila wanted to come to my house to sleep, and I accepted of course. We had both put on our pajamas and then we slept under the thick duvets since it was pretty cold today. I don't think I've ever slept so well, knowing she was safe and warm in my arms.
I was leaning over the sill of the window of my apartment, and Camila was sleeping sprawled on the bed as I enjoyed the view of the beach. I loved to look at the view from my apartment... It was so beautiful.
"I assure you that your view isn't better than mine." I heard Camila say, and I turned, laughing, seeing that Camila was staring at my ass.
I ran towards her and jumped on the bed, lying down next to her and hugging her.
"You're beautiful even while sleeping." I said, brushing my nose against her cheek and stroking her waist under her shirt.
"Laur, can you please warm my feet?" She asked, and I laughed, lifting the duvet and getting underneath it, hugging her and entwining our feet. "You're cold." She said, hiding her face in the crook of my neck.
"You'll warm me up pretty quickly." I said, and Camila hugged me tighter. I smiled at that.
I got kind of gloomy and hid myself from the world when I killed someone, it was not something I felt good about doing, I'd get a guilty conscience and I'd feel bad, only that didn't happen this time. I protected Camila, and that was enough to make me feel like I did the right thing.
I wanted to do something for her, a surprise, something nice... something that would make her happy and that consequently would distract my mind.
I stayed pampering her a little longer in bed, stroking her back, kissing her forehead, making her laugh... And gradually, that soothed my heart and mind.
When I saw that we had an hour and a half for the sun to set, I asked her to get dressed in warm, comfortable clothes. I opened the closet and grabbed a normal backpack and a camping backpack; and inside the camping backpack I put two very well rolled duvets. Then I folded the one we were using in bed and placed two pillows on top of it. I went to the closet again and grabbed two sweatshirts, two beanies and socks.
Before Camila got out of the bathroom, I put on black sweatpants and remained with the same shirt I slept in, and then I grabbed a thick and very warm sweatshirt. As soon as Camila appeared in the bedroom, I saw that she looked no much different than me, she was only missing the sweatshirt. She frowned when she saw all those things huddled on the bed, and I laughed, winking at her. I handed her a sweatshirt, warning her that she couldn't leave with only that shirt, and she put it on without complaining.
Camila grabbed the pillows and the normal backpack with the extra clothes while I grabbed the camping backpack and the extra duvet. We stopped by the kitchen before leaving, and I opened the pantry and grabbed some junk food and two bottles of water.
"Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise, Camz." I laughed, and she rolled her eyes. "Relax..." I sealed our lips and then pulled away. "Turn around, I have to put these things in the backpack, there's still room in this one." She turned around and I opened the backpack, lowering my gaze to Camila's ass and smiling mischievously as I put the things inside the bag.
"Lolo? Are you done?" She asked impatiently, and I huffed, closing the backpack, hearing her laugh. "Let's go, I want to know what you're up to."
"Dinah left her car here, we're going to use it, okay?!" She nodded her head and I smiled. "Good, let's go, we're running out of time." She frowned and I laughed, grabbing the duvet that was on top of the counter.
I locked the apartment and then we entered the elevator, as soon as we reached the parking lot, we walked to Dinah's car; her car had a very spacious truck bed. We put everything there and then we got into the vehicle. I turned on the radio and Beyoncé's voice filled the environment, making me laugh. I switched the radio setting from CD to the radio stations, hearing Boyce Avenue playing.
Our hands stayed intertwined during the whole drive; I only released her hand when I had to switch gears. Time or another, Camila leaned towards me and kissed my cheek, and sometimes she laid her head on my shoulder and talked nonstop, which made me happy and at ease. I loved her way of being.
I drove all the way to the outskirts of the city, driving towards the same field where she once took me to take my photos for her photoshoot. Her smile grew bigger when Camila started recognizing the place. I had planned that yesterday, but I had no idea if it was possible to drive there with the car, and I needed to drive the car into that field.
I kept on driving along that little road until I finally found a kind of small wooden gate. I got out of the car and opened it, motioning for Camila to move to the driver's side and drive into the field, and so she did, stopping right after she drove past the gate. Before closing the gate, I checked if no one had followed us, and when I saw that everything was good to go, I closed the gate and thanked God for that road being cemented, thus leaving no traces.
I got into the car again and started driving quickly away from that entrance. After a few minutes driving, the sun was showing signs that it was going to set. I stopped the car and then got out of it, seeing Camila staring at me confused.
"We're going to sleep here today." I said excitedly, and she frowned.
"Are you crazy?" I laughed, and Camila stared at me in horror.
"Not on the ground. I'm going to make the truck bed comfortable for us, we're going to watch the sunset and then we'll stay here, just the two of us. Away from everything and everyone." I smiled excitedly, and Camila couldn't help smiling, nodding her head.
I opened the small latch of the truck bed and took off my shoes before getting up there. Dinah always left everything clean, so I wouldn't step on it with my dirty shoes. I opened the camping backpack and then started setting everything up; making it comfortable and nice, I covered the floor of the truck bed with two thick and big duvets, and then Camila handed me the pillows and the thicker extra duvet we had brought with us. She grabbed my shoes and put them inside the car, bringing the normal backpack with her. Camila sat down first and then removed her shoes, holding them in her hands as got up and walked over the truck bed, throwing her shoes inside through the open window. I put the backpack aside and lay down, getting underneath the thick duvet, watching Camila do the same.
As soon as I accommodated myself better, Camila snuggled in my arms, hugging me and laying her head on my left arm. I smiled, looking ahead and seeing the sky gain a kind of orange tone, totally beautiful and romantic.
In that moment I felt happy, extremely happy... as if I was back to my childhood, as if I didn't need anything luxurious or expensive to be happy. That moment of absurd happiness due to such a simple thing made my heart beat more than fast and made my tongue itch to say those three words to her.
"This is so beautiful..." She said smiling, and I smiled, her nose looked red from the cold. "Hug me tighter, I'm cold." And so I did; I wasn't going to say that I had brought an extra sweatshirt, I just took advantage of the situation and hugged her even tighter.
"I like you so much, Camz. So so much." I whispered close to her ear, and she looked at me with a broad smile.
"Me too... So so so much." She said, and I smiled, inching closer. "You cause me sensations that were unknown to me before." She whispered close to my mouth.
I inched my lips closer to hers, making them touch affectionately, and my right hand went straight to her neck. At first it was a simple lip contact, my attention was completely focused on her lower lip. Her tongue outlined my lips, and I parted them, giving passage for a real kiss to happen.
Minutes passed, maybe hours, our lips didn't unglue at any moment. Neither of us wanted that to be a kiss with ulterior motives. It was a delicate kiss, full of love, as if silently and through that act we were telling the truth to one another.
"Camz..." I whispered smiling when our lips finally parted.
"Hmm?" She purred, kissing my chin and brushing our noses right after.
"Travel with me..." I asked, and she opened her eyes, startled. I bit my lower lip, not believing I had said that.
"What?" She asked somewhat apprehensively.
"Exactly what you heard." I said firmly, it was now or never. "I want to fulfill your dream, let's travel around the world, just the two of us. You can take all the pictures you want, and we can taste new foods, meet new cultures. Just the two of us."
"Lolo..." She sat up somewhat startled, and I got apprehensive, I had messed everything up. "I don't know what... erm..."
"No... I... I'm sorry, it's just that..."
"Can I think about it?" She asked, and I looked at her, surprised, and then I smiled. "This is a very tempting offer, but I really need to analyze my options and..."
"It's okay, don't worry about it. Take all the time you need to think about it." I smiled, stroking her face. "Now we're going to lie back down and enjoy the rest of the evening."
For the first time those words didn't come with ulterior motives. What I meant by 'enjoy the rest of the evening' was to enjoy each other's company, the pleasant weather and the beautiful place.
Because now I knew that I'd be alright if I was by her side.
