Blond guy (25)
I couldn't relax my stance at all, and my arms were tense and firm around Camila's body. I was ready for anything thing he tried to do to get close to her. I could snap his neck at an absurd speed, and I couldn't care less if I had an audience.
Once we paid for the bottles of water, Camila intertwined our hands and started walking towards the bleachers. As soon as we stepped on the first step, my phone started ringing, so I asked Camila to go ahead, and she just nodded her head.
"Description." That was all Normani said.
"Blond, blue eyes, several tattoos on his arm, kind of tanned..."
"Drew Chadwick, 26 years old." Normani said. "He's only trained in boxing, and he will start learning capoeira within a few weeks. He's new in the organization." I scratched my head, it would be easier if he tried something. "We're on our way there, Dinah will help you handle things."
"Should I worry about him?"
"No, Drew is kind of greedy, but he's not smart... Maybe he'll try to grab her, but a brute like him draws too much attention." I made a nasal sound, telling them I understood. "Did the kid win something?" Mani asked.
"She came in second place the first time... And she's going to swim again now. I have to go."
I hung up and rolled up my sleeves, suddenly being hit by a hellish heat. I climbed the stairs and sat down next to Camila, who was looking at me somewhat apprehensively, but I pretended I didn't notice and looked straight to the pool.
Sofia was stretching her arms, and she seemed more than nervous. She put the swimming goggles on top of her head and adjusted her hair swim cap, to then look for her family in the bleachers. When Sofi located us, Camila waved and smiled broadly at her sister, who smiled back and took a deep breath once again. Sofia's coach kept talking to her, and that seemed to calm her down.
After about five minutes, Sofi's category was announced through the speakers. The little girl climbed the small step and stood in that concrete square right in front of the pool. She took a deep breath, put her swimming goggles on, quickly stretched for the last time, and then got into position. When the horn sounded throughout the environment, Sofia jumped perfectly into the water and began to swim quickly. The four of us got up, and I couldn't take my eyes off her, she looked like a rocket under water, but still, she had two girls in front of her. I think that number was haunting her. But out of nowhere, she started to swim even faster, and I couldn't help the shriek of happiness that escaped my mouth when she was the first to put her hand on the wall.
"She did it!" I exclaimed excitedly and then looked at Camila, who was staring at me. "What?" I asked, and she shook her head as she bit her lower lip.
"Nothing... I just like knowing that you like my sister." She smiled, and I winked at her.
Sofia got out of the pool with the help of her coach, who smiled happily and hugged her in celebration. My right arm was hugging Camila by the shoulders and she was hugging me by the waist. And Sinu was smiling, alternating her gaze between us and Sofia.
We stayed there for a few more minutes, and then we descended the bleachers, heading towards the locker-rooms. When Sofi showed up, she ran to Camila and hugged her older sister, who was celebrating her victory enthusiastically. Sinu pinched her younger daughter's cheeks, and the girl just smiled like the sun. Alejandro just flashed her a weak smile and gave her a quick hug.
"Wow, you looked like a rocket in the water!" I said smiling, and Sofi smiled back as she removed her hair swim cap. "Dinah would love to see you swimming, seriously, you need to make a bet with her. That woman thinks she can beat anyone, but that's because she hasn't met you." I said smiling, and Camila laughed.
"Who is Dinah?" Alejandro asked with one of his eyebrows raised.
"My best friend and personal trainer." I said, rolling down the sleeves of my shirt.
"Is she gay too?" He asked rudely, and I looked at him.
"Dad..."
"No, she's not gay." I said smiling.
"LITTLE ONE, YOU SLAYED IT!" We all looked to the side and saw Dinah with Normani. I closed my eyes and shook my head. "Oh my God, you're faster than Lauren in the water!" Dinah exclaimed, and I looked at her, shaking my head.
"Uh... These are our friends, Normani and Dinah." Camila said somewhat awkwardly to her parents. "I didn't know you were here." She looked at the two girls.
"Dinah's cousin was competing." Normani lied through her teeth, and I smiled. They were fast. "And we decided to come say hi and congratulate little Sofi." She smiled at the little girl. "Lauren talked a lot about you." My friend said to Sofia, smiling broadly. I really had talked a lot about Sofia yesterday.
Sinu began talking to my friends, and Camila seemed kind of embarrassed. I wanted to kill the two of them. Whenever I needed their help with a case, they would just watch everything from the sidelines and would only interfere if I was in trouble. It was always like that, so I wasn't understanding the sudden change of plans.
After a few minutes, Sofia entered the locker-room to take a shower and to change clothes, and we just sat on the nearby benches. Camila was sitting between me and Dinah, and Dinah was making her laugh like a crazy person, while Normani was talking animatedly with my future mother-in-law. I was just sitting there, in silence, and I could notice Alejandro's look of repulsion.
When my future sister-in-law got out of the locker-room, Camila got up to go to her, and that was when Dinah whispered:
"Normani is going to distract them, and we're going to take care of Drew." I just nodded my head.
"Dammit, I forgot to warn my family that I'm going with Mani..." Dinah said more loudly so that Camila could hear, and she also pretended to be a little upset. "Laur, can you come with me? You know how they are, they'll just keep talking and talking, and you're good at putting an end to things." She said the last part with a small mischievous smile, and I glared at her. Then I looked at Camila and she smiled at me.
"Just don't take too long, okay?" She said, and I nodded my head, kissing her cheek.
Dinah and I turned around and started walking away. And soon enough I started looking around, in search of the blond guy.
"Okay, sweethearts, keep walking!" I felt something touch my back, a gun. "Keep quiet or I'll shoot her right now." He said, putting one hand on Dinah's shoulder.
I wanted to laugh because he really thought that it would be this easy. We continued walking, the three of us together and close. Drew was reaching the back of the parking lot, where his car was probably parked. We were already far away from where the rest of the people were, especially Camila, who was waiting for me. She was going to be mad at me for taking too long, but I needed a few minutes to handle this.
Drew pushed me against his car, and I could feel his breath near the back of my neck. Dinah sighed, rather bored, and I laughed, causing him to press the gun harder against my back.
"Rule number one, never mess with two experienced women!" I simply said, and in a swift movement, I turned my body around and Dinah pushed him against the car on the side. He pointed the gun at me, but I grabbed his wrist and twisted it, and then Dinah kicked the back of his knee. Drew fell to the ground on his knees, dropping his gun and groaning in pain.
"Okay, sweetie, you're cute but you're making our job difficult." Dinah said, kicking the gun away. "You didn't really think that it would be this easy, did you? Greed won't get you anywhere."
"We're paid to kill her! I was just going to have some fun and then shoot her between the eyes." He laughed, and I closed my eyes, feeling an intense hatred hit me.
"Don't you ever say that again!" I gripped his hair and smashed his head against the car. "You disgusting piece of shit, you're very lucky that I'm going to kill you quickly and silently. I should cut your dick off and let you die slowly and painfully!" I said through clenched teeth as he still groaned in pain because of the blow to his head.
"Get on with it, Lauren!" Dinah exclaimed, and I took a deep breath, looking at the gun. "Don't even think about it, it will make a lot of noise and it will leave a trace." Dinah said, sighing.
"No, please..." Drew begged.
"Now it's please? You should've thought about it before showing up here, your death will be a great warning to Steve and Dana. Bye-bye, Drew!"
I grabbed his head with both hands, and he tried to get up in panic, but Dinah quickly held him in place. Then I snapped his neck with all my strength, watching him stop moving and feeling his body become limp, falling dead in front of me right after.
Whenever I killed someone, a horrible feeling took hold of me, and it always took a few days until it passed. And along with that feeling came the nightmares, but with every death, they became less frequent.
We opened Drew's car, and with a lot of difficulty, we placed his body on the back seat, in a position that looked like as if he was sleeping. I was sweating, and kind of freaking out, afraid that someone would catch us there. Dinah stayed there, and we agreed that I would go back and discretely warn Normani, who would then follow Dinah with their car. They would decide what they would do. And I would just get out of there before someone else showed up.
I hurried back, as I wiped the sweat from my forehead with the sleeve of my shirt. I looked at my clothes and saw that they weren't very crumpled, but my combat boots were dirty with dirt. When I reached the group again, they all looked at me, worried. I just smiled as if nothing had happened, and discretely made a sign at Mani.
"Dinah is going to have lunch with her family." I said with a smile.
"Oh, I better go with her then. I want to see if I meet Arin later..."
"Arin?" Camila asked.
"A friend..." Normani said sheepishly, and we laughed, knowing he was more than that.
She quickly said goodbye to us, and as she was walking away, her phone started ringing. I smiled, already knowing that it was Dinah.
"You took your time!" Camila said through clenched teeth. "If I didn't know Dinah so well and didn't know that she's one of the straightest people I know, I'd think you were doing something else with her..." She pouted, and I laughed, to then kiss her forehead, pulling her close to me, to see if this way I would stop shaking a little. "Shall we go then?"
Great... Afternoon with the future in-laws.
