Chapter Five
Marcus and Amber stood there for a bit before speaking.
"You're looking beautiful today," Marcus said.
Amber could only laugh at his words.
"What's funny about that?" Marcus stifled a confused laugh.
"It's just," Amber paused, trying to calm herself, "You think I look pretty."
"Well I do!" He protested.
"Prince Marcus," Amber said with a serious tone, "4 years ago you had me locked in a castle for a year. Your lies do no good here."
"Okay if it'd make you feel better I will give a public speech to the town to sincerely apologize for my actions. Until then can we atleast try to be better with each other. We do have to marry." He gestured to Amber and himself.
Amber watched him gesture and took his words to mind.
"If you give a public speech, I will gladly completely take your apology."
Marcus sighed in relief. He went to reach for Amber's hadn only to have Amber pull her own hand away.
"If I were you I wouldn't get my hopes up," Amber said.
"So there is a reason for your hopes to go up in the first place?" Marcus smiled.
Amber gently smacked his hand.
"No!" She lied.
She couldn't help it. She knew despite what happened and what he did to her, she really liked him. She knew there was no one else she'd rather marry.
"You know there is!" He teased once more.
"Marcus shut up!" She said, visibally flustered.
Amber marched off into the castle, Marcus following behind her. She led him all the way to one of the many balconies to watch the sunset.
"This is nice, you must come out here often," Marcus said, staring at the bright pinks, and purples in the sky.
"That'd be incorrect. I don't have much time in my day to actually enjoy the sunset. She's preparing me to be the queen. You know the whole 'The town never sleeps so the queen musn't sleep' thing."
"I don't know, I'm a prince. Not a princess." He said in a girly voice.
Amber giggled at his attempt to make his voice feminine.
"You have a nice laugh," He said, trying to make her happy with him by the end of the day.
"Thank you," Amber smiled.
One of the servants came out and interupted the two.
"Princess Amber, Prince Marcus," the servant greeted.
"Alice," Amber greeted back.
"Alice," Marcus said, repeating Amber.
"The queen instructed me to come out here and make sure everything is ok," Alice said.
"We're fine," Amber said.
"She also said the prince's ride will arrive shortly. Please be prepared," Alice said, leaving the two alone once again.
"Promise me we will meet up again soon?" Marcus turned back to Amber with pleading eyes.
"I'm not one for promises. However, I promise. So long as you make good on your word to the town."
"It's a deal! You won't regret this," He gave Amber a quick kiss before rushing into the castle and down to the carriage that awaited him.
Amber touched her lips in awe as she could not believe he did that. Then she smiled, happy he had done that.
