Two
Seungcheol sat with his legs crossed. His head was reeling. He was extremely angry but he tried to control himself as he waited for his soon to be in-laws and Jeonghan, the boy he had disliked for as long as he wanted. Why him? His father could have chosen any other person from any other family but Jeonghan.
He was a free bird when it came to his sexuality. He liked who he liked be it male or female. He was more into males but it all depended on the person but Jeonghan didn't cut it for him. Ever since his father told him about the arrangement, he had been brooding. His mind was twisted in all kinds of ways. He hated it, really hated it.
Now they were both in their mansion waiting for the other family to arrive. His father sat opposite him staring at him closely. He folded his arms.
"Choi Seungcheol, don't mess this up for me" he said.
"Of course, this is all about you. You don't give a shit about me"
His father sighed. "This is an opportunity for us. It's an opportunity to get into the kind of world the Yoons are in. For years, people have tagged us as being thugs, people with no manners based on our background but once you marry their son, we will no longer be seen that way"
Seungcheol shook his head "Marriage isn't going to change what we truly are... " He stopped and eyed his father. "What you truly are. You have never been a straight business man. I wonder what you are planning"
His father grinned, a grin that never failed to unsettle him.
"They have everything that I need...everything"
The door bell rang and they heard the maid open it. She later came to the living room where they both sat.
"Sir, the Yoon family have arrived"
The smile on his face brightened.
"That's good, send them in"
The maid left and in came the sophisticated Yoons with their beautiful son. For a moment, Seungcheol couldn't stop staring at Jeonghan. He looked really good. It definitely seemed like he had taken extra care of himself. But the scowl on his face was enough evidence that he hated being here. Their eyes met and he pulled away as if he had just been touched by fire.
"Thanks for coming" Mr Choi shook hands with the Yoons. He stopped and looked at Jeonghan seeming impressed by what he was seeing.
"You really are a beauty. You are just my son's type"
Jeonghan turned to Seungcheol. He wasn't even looking at them. He took a deep breath, deeply angered.
"Thank you Sir"
Mr Choi laughed. "Don't be so formal. We are going to be family soon"
The maid entered again. "Sir, Dinner is served"
"Thank you for inviting us" Mr Yoon said and the two men shook hands again. They all went to the dining area were lots of sumptuous looking meals were displayed.
Jeonghan had never seen such wealth. The minute he stepped into the mansion, it had taken his breath away. He had been awed. The silver pillars, expensive are pieces, the drapes and decorations took him aback. He wondered if it was their trading company that provided these sort of wealth. If not, it was true that the Chois were really dubious. They were doing other dubious things to gain this kind of wealth he was now witnessing.
He drooled at the sight of the meals but controlled himself. They all said a short prayer before digging in. The food was absolutely delicious. Seungcheol whispered something to his maid. Jeonghan could detect a name, Jessica but he didn't care. He wasn't going to care. He had his own plans up his sleeve. A plan that would make this marriage thing more tolerable.
"Why don't the kids have a private talk after the meal and we will discuss all the marriage plans" Mr Choi.
Seunghceol and Jeonghan wanted to protest but the adults seemed determined.
"of course, that's a good idea. They have to get to know each other more" Mrs Yoon said with a wide smile.
"Oh I know everything I need to know about this horrible jerk" j
Jeonghan thought to himself as he glared at Seungcheol. The latter glared back.
The adults finished first leaving them together
"I'm finished here" Seungcheol said and stood up. He walked towards the living room and Jeonghan followed quickly.
"Why did you want to marry me?"
Seungcheol scoffed and placed his two hands on his waist as he stared down at the shorter male.
"Did you think I wanted to marry you out of my own free will? I was forced into this stupid idea because of my father"
"Same goes with me. My family is bankrupt that is why I'm being forced to marry you"
Seungcheol sighed. "I can barely stand you Jeonghan, the thought of marrying you makes me sick"
Jeonghan grinned. "My heart breaks knowing that I'll have to spend the rest of my life with someone like you. It's the worst thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life " He paused and brought out a paper from his jacket.
"But there is a way we can both bear with it"
Seungcheol snatched the paper and looked into it. It was a marriage contract rules written by Yoon Jeonghan.
This is a marriage contract between Mr Choi Seungcheol and Mr Yoon Jeonghan. If these rules are not kept by both or one of the parties involved, a fine of one million dollars will be paid. Here are the rules.
1. Both parties shall lead different lives.
2. One shall not interfere in the others life
3. Both parties are free to have other relationships.
4. There shall be no sexual intercourse.
5. They shall contribute equally to the management of their home.
6. The household chores and cooking shall be done separately.
7. No one at school should know about their marriage.
8. Under no circumstances would they act as a real married couple.
9. The marriage will last a maximum of two years after which both parties will go their separate ways"
Seungcheol looked up at jeonghan.
"I'm fine with all these" He said. Looks like he would be able to live with Jeonghan after all. Jeonghan brought out a pen and gave it to Seungcheol who quickly signed. Jeonghan signed it also.
"I like your way Jeonghan" Seungcheol said with a wry smile. Jeonghan stuck out his hand.
"Let's get along"
Seungcheol shook his hand "Let's get along" He muttered.
Their parents entered at that moment.
"Looks like you are getting along" Mr Choi said. Jeonghan hid the paper back inside his jacket.
He looked at Mr and Mrs Yoon.
"we your parents have already come to a decision. Your wedding shall be held next week"
"What? " the younger ones shouted.
"Yes, so that you can both focus on school work" Mrs Yoon said.
Jeonghan shook his head "No way, this is too much. Next week is so soon"
Mr Yoon sighed. "We have no choice. We can't afford to waste time"
"Fine, we'll marry next week" Seungcheol whispered making Jeonghan look at him with dagger looks.
"But there will be a condition" he said.
Everyone peered at him closely.
"It will be a simple wedding with only us and a judge. We can even have the wedding here"
"But.... " Mr Choi wanted to protest.
"This is the least you can do after forcing the both of us to marry when we don't have feelings for each other. We are sacrificing a lot here. You three should also make the sacrifice of keeping this between us"
The adults seemed deep in thought until Mr Choi spoke up.
"Fine then, we shall have a short simple wedding"
Jeonghan and Seungcheol breathed a huge sigh of relief. Their plans was working out for them. Everything was settled. The only preparation was to find a judge.
When jeonghan returned home, he thought of how his life would be like from that moment on he was going to marry his worst enemy Choi Seungcheol. His head banged just by thinking about it. He couldn't sleep a wink that night. He was so worried. He received a call from Joshua. He was hesitant at first. He didn't know whether he should pick up or not. He decided to pick up.
"Hello! "
"Jeongie, I've been calling you all day. You have to tell me what's going on"
"I'll be coming back next week"
"Babe, Is it because of what I said? That I chose my family over you, look I take that back"
"No, it's not that. Just get some sleep alright?"
"Jeonghan... "
He cut the line and fell onto the bed. That night, he cried himself to sleep.
The next day, his mother showed him a white diamond studded suit she had bought him. It was really beautiful but it dampened his spirit the more.
"Isn't it beautiful?"
"Whatever" he muttered uninterested
" You are getting married Jeonghan"
The blonde rolled his eyes "like it was my choice"
Mrs Yoon sighed. "Will you have a honeymoon?"
"Hell no! I still have plenty of things to do in school. Besides to me, it's not a real wedding"
"Fine then, I'll just leave it here" His mother said and dropped the suit on his bed before leaving. Jeonghan ran his fingers through the fine fabric. It really was beautiful but it brought a lot of pain to his soul. He kept it in his wardrobe determined not to look at it until the wedding day.
The days flew past until the dreaded day arrived. For the worst time in Jeonghan's life, the day seemed really beautiful. The sun was shining high up in the sky and the atmosphere was clear. The judge was going to arrive that morning so Jeonghan wore the white suit and applied minimal makeup on his face. His mother entered looking beautiful in a blue summer dress. She handed him a white bouquet of flowers and stopped to examine him. She placed a small white pin to hold his front hair.
"You look so handsome Jeonghan" she whispered.
She saw tears shining in his eyes and knew that he was ready to break down at any moment.
"Don't cry my son. You'll ruin your makeup"
She held him tight. "I'm so sorry. Forgive me and your father. We are so sorry"
Jeonghan bawled his eyes out. He cried louder than he ever did. His mother didn't stop him. She patted his back trying to soothe him. After he finished crying, his mother fixed his make up again and tidied his hair.
His father entered "The judge has arrived"
"Let's go Jeonghan" His mother said.
They drove to the Chois mansion. It was quiet just like Jeonghan wanted. When they entered, Mr Choi met them with the judge, an old man in a black suit. He greeted them warmly. There was also a pianist ready to play some wedding songs. Seungcheol came down the stairs. He looked really handsome dressed in a black fitting tuxedo and his grey hair covering one part of his eyes. A pretty girl followed behind him. Jeonghan watched the girl. He had never seen her before. Seungcheol came closer to him and he could perceive the faint smell of alcohol.
"You drank" he said irritably.
"Didn't you?" Seungcheol replied.
"Who is she?" Jeonghan asked referring to the girl with a faraway look in her eyes
"She's my older sister Jessica"
Jeonghan was shocked because he thought that Mr Choi only had one child Seungcheol. He was shocked to hear that he had a daughter. But he didn't have time to dwell on it because the judge was calling for them in the living room.
Jeonghan and Seungcheol stood in front of the judge with the others behind them. Saying the vows was a torture. Signing the wedding registry was worse but it was over.
"You both are now married in the eyes of the law. Congratulations"
Their parents clapped behind them but the two looked at each other in disdain with only one thing in their minds. Never ever would they fall for each other. Never!
