This is my second Jeongcheol fan fiction. Hope you like it and enjoy!
The days felt so long as he sat there, looking out the window. From the glass, he could see his image and how pale he looked, his eyes sunken. He shook his head and returned his attention to the boring lecture before him
"I'll see you in the next class. The students I am supervising should please submit their thesis to me by three" The female Lecturer said. She bowed her head and left the class.
He had to leave school. He had been feeling really sick since morning. He packed his bags and left the class. On the way, he bumped into his boyfriend and smiled when he saw him. Then he let his boyfriend wrap his arms around him. He suddenly looked worried when his skin came in contact with his.
"Babe, are you alright? You look sick"
"I am. I'm going to my parent's house. I think I just need rest"
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"yes"
"Alright babe, I love you" He said and kissed his head. His boyfriend Joshua, Korean name Jisoo was really pretty, he looked like a woman, just like me. Just by appearance, he looked really feminine. He was half American.
"Do you want me to walk you out?" he asked.
He shook his head "I'm fine, thank you"
He patted his arms and gave him a kiss before he left. He sighed and began to walk out of the department building. He was sick though, not physically but emotionally as he remembered the last conversation he had with his mother two days ago.
"Don't worry my love, we will take care of everything" She had whispered in a muffled voice. He knew his mother. Whenever she spoke that way, she was troubled by something. He wondered if she and his father where having problems again. He shook his head. Only by reaching home would he get an answer. He walked out of the building and headed towards the school's front gate when he heard a sudden screech beside him.
"Hey, watch where you are going!" A voice shouted at him.
Jeonghan turned and saw a small guy with pink hair poking his head out from the tinted car window. He knew him very well and he hated him but not as much as he hated the one who was coming out from the other side. His blood literally boiled as the grey haired guy came out of the car. He wore a hooded orange sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath exposing his baby muscles. His skin tight jeans hugging him tightly as he leaned against the car. Jeonghan cringed. Ugh Choi Seungcheol! Billionaire playboy and Jeonghan's worst enemy.
Jeonghan rolled his eyes
"What do you want?"
"What were you thinking of? Your boyfriend?" He sneered.
"And how is that any of your business?" Jeonghan barked.
"Because you came up out of nowhere and I don't want to be responsible for bodily harm"
"Well you aren't so you can go back to your little boyfriend in your little car"
"What did you say?" The small man yelled threatening to come out of the car.
"Don't waste your time on him Woozi, he isn't worth it"
Jeonghan hated hearing that word. He felt like punching him on the chin but he didn't have energy to deal with him right now so he simply looked away and began to leave.
Seungcheol shrugged and put on black sunshades.
"You've gotten thinner" He called out making Jeonghan turn.
"Are you sure you are eating alright?"
Jeonghan tightened his fists and walked up to Seungcheol looking him directly in the face.
"listen to me you asshole, the only reason why I'm not burying my fist in your face is because I don't want to have problem with your overbearing father but if you so much as provoke me again, I will give you what you've been asking for"
He smirked, a devilish glint in his eyes.
"Ooh, I'm shaking" He whispered making Jeonghan's skin crawl. He stepped away.
"What the hell Seungcheol, leave that Blondie and let's go! We'll be late for the party." Woozi yelled.
Seunghcheol smiled. "Like I said, not worth it"
He shut the door loudly. Woozi eyed him for a second before withdrawing back to the car. Soon, Seungcheol drove off.
Jeonghan took a deep breath trying to calm down his nerves. Gosh, he hated that guy. He simply didn't know what the rest of college saw in him. He was arrogant, annoying, rude and had no respect for anyone especially those who were below him. This was going to be the last time he would come in contact with him again. He was always putting him in a bad mood.
"it's alright, I'm fine!" he said to himself taking deep breathes now and again.
Once he felt better, he straightened his hair and began to walk. His baby jeep had been in the mechanic's far longer than he had wanted because he didn't have the money to get it back. He had little or no money in his bank account and his allowance has been cut to half. It was either his parents were having problems with their marriage or they were having financial issues. He took a cab to their residence and paid the fare. As he stood, looking at the huge gate, he knew something wasn't right. He opened and heaved when he noticed how empty the atmosphere was. The maids who cleaned the compound were no where to be seen so was the security guards who where often around the compound. He got to the front and pressed the door bell. He waited for a few seconds before it opened and he stood facing his mother who had a haggard expression on her face. She looked surprised to see him.
"Jeonghan...what are you doing here?"
"Is Dad in?"
"Yes, he's in his study"
Jeonghan said nothing and just entered. He heard his mother sigh and follow him.
"You are not supposed to be back before the semester"
"I know, I just felt uneasy"
"Are you hungry? Have you eaten?"
"Can you make me a sandwich mom. I'm a bit hungry"
"Alright son"
She hurried off and Jeonghan went to his father's office. The man was there surrounded with all sorts of papers and documents with his glasses perched on top of his nose. He looked tired.
"Hey Dad!"
His father looked up and saw him. A bright smiled lit his face.
"Jeonghan, what are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to see you and mother, is everything okay?"
His father cleared his throat.
"Of course son, everything is fine. I'm glad you are home"
He hid his eyes and rubbed them. He looked up at him.
"Actually jeonghan, We were thinking of calling you back home. Since you're already here, it's better"
He sighed. "We want to have a serious talk with you tonight after dinner"
"Does it have to do with what is going on?"
His father shook his head. "You're quite observant. Yes it does"
Jeonghan became worried.
"Dad, what's going on it's obvious things aren't well."
His father bit his lip. "Just go freshen up Jeonghan. Later, we'll talk about it"
He was dismissed. Jeonghan left the study. He couldn't wait for dinner so he his questions could be answered.
Dinner was silent unlike before when they would laugh together and chat about their day. Jeonghan noticed that their housekeeper wasn't around. So was the cook because the soup they were eating tasted like his mom's. Mrs Yoon wasn't that much of a cook. She had grown up in a wealthy family and married his father who was a rich man. So she hadn't learnt to cook because she had maids at her beck and call but now she was cooking. Jeonghan managed to eat the almost burned rice with soup but he didn't complain.
"That was good mother" He lied after he finished.
His mother smiled genuinely for the first time since she saw him that day.
"Thanks dear" She muttered. Jeonghan cleared his plates and washed them. Then he went to the living room and sat down to watch a soap opera. It was boring so he dozed off. He woke up to the feel of someone tapping his shoulder. It was his father. He sat up straight clearing his eyes. His parents sat in front of him.
"I'm sure you have noticed what is going on around here" His father started.
"Appa, it's pretty obvious"
Mr Yoon took a deep breath.
"Jeonghan, we are bankrupt!"
"What?"
"Exactly what you heard" His mother said.
Jeonghan felt weak. He didn't want to believe that they were now poor.
"But what happened? How did this happen?"
His father sighed. "We invested a lot of money in a deal which turned out to be a ponzi scheme. All our money is gone"
Jeonghan stood there trying to be rational. He chewed his bottom lip.
"We have tried to do as much as we can. We have started selling off our shares but I'm afraid it can't go anywhere" His mother said.
Jeonghan looked at his parents. He didn't know what to think.
"So what are you going to do about this?" He asked.
"There is a solution but it's too much. It's something we can't even consider" His mother said, her face pale.
"What's the solution mother? We must do everything we can to save the company"
His parents looked at each other before his father decided to speak.
"You know Pledis company"
Yoon nodded. How could he not know. They were their rival company and he didn't want to even think of it but Seungcheol's father's company.
"I do but what about them?"
His father sighed deeply. "Mr Choi offered to help us pay off the debts but on one condition"
"What condition?"
Jeonghan was sweating profusely. His parents seemed hesitant. They looked uncomfortable.
"Eomma, Appa what's the condition? Don't leave me in suspense"
Mrs yoon rubbed her palms together.
"You have to marry his son" she blurted.
Jeonghan felt like he had just been hit with a thunder bolt.
"Are you serious?"
His parents nodded. "Yes, that's the condition he gave. We don't know why"
Jeonghan gritted his teeth
"He wants me to marry his son? Seungcheol? That asshole?"
"This is all our fault, I'm sorry sweetheart" His mother whispered. His father couldn't even look him in the eyes. He kept bowing his head. Jeonghan looked at his parents.
"Do you want me to marry him?"
They didn't answer. Their silence was the answer. Jeonghan jerked up angrily.
"So you are just willing to sell me off to the Chois? You know how dangerous those people are. That's why we never got along with them"
"I understand how you must be feeling but please this is for the sake of the family" Mrs Yoon whispered"
"Family? We have never been a real family. This is the longest you have spoken to me in a long time. The only thing you both care about is work. Now see where it landed you and now you expect me to destroy my future for the sake of this family"
His father sighed. "Jeonghan, calm down"
"I won't calm down. I just want to be alone right now"
"Jeonghan...." His mother shouted but he was already running up the stairs to his room. He slumped on the bed and looked at the ceiling. The thought of getting married to Seungcheol made his skin crawl. Did he know about it? Was that the reason he gave him that kind of attention today. It was pretty odd. The Seungcheol he knew wouldn't want to be seen standing on the road side talking with him. He would just insult him and drive off. He nearly tore away his hair just thinking about him. He suddenly thought of his boyfriend Joshua. Perhaps he could help but he remembered that he had only a single father who was struggling to cater for him and his two younger siblings but he still had to call him. He needed to hear his voice. He grabbed his phone and saw several missed calls, all from Joshua so he called him. The half American picked up quickly.
"Hey babe, I've been calling you for a long time and you didn't pick up, are you alright?"
Hearing his voice brought tears to his eyes.
"I'm fine Joshie"
"you are sounding odd Jeonghannie"
"it's just a sore throat, don't worry about it"
He laughed. "Alright then, I miss you, when are you coming back to school?"
"I don't know"
"You don't know?"
"I'm having a really hard time right now"
"Are you still sick?" Joshua whispered sounding so worried.
"Ani, I just feel confused" He paused. "Joshua, can you do anything for your family?"
"Yes I can. I love my family so much. I can do anything for them"
"Can you leave me for the sake of your family"
There was silence for a while "What sort of question is that Jeonghan?"
"Just answer me!"
He gulped. "I love you, you know that but my father has suffered a lot because of me... "
"You don't have to explain yourself Joshua. You will still choose them over me"
"Babe...."
Jeonghan sighed. "I would do the same too"
Joshua scoffed. "I don't like the turn of this conversation, let's talk about something else"
"Let's break up" Jeonghan blurted.
"Break up?" Joshua yelled. "You aren't serious"
"I'm sorry Joshua"
He couldn't bear to hear his saddened voice so he cut the line and cried into his pillow. He didn't know how long he cried but his eyes were all puffy and swollen by the time he finished. It was past ten when he went to his parents room. He could overhear his parents conversation from the door.
"I wish there is another way" Mrs Yoon whispered.
"There is no other way. I feel embarrassed. This is all my fault and now I'm putting the burden on my only child, what kind of father am I?"
"You just made mistakes dear, I also made the mistake with you, don't take all the blame"
"Jeonghan is right. That family is twisted. It feels wrong having an alliance with them. Much less a marriage one"
Mrs Yoon sighed. "I never knew that allying with them would be our only choice but what can we do?"
Jeonghan entered. "I'll do it, I'll marry Choi Seungcheol"
His parents looked shocked.
"Jeonghan are you sure? You are going to be married to him in every sense of the word"
Jeonghan nodded "I know. But make sure my sacrifice doesn't go in vain"
His mother spread out her arms to him.
"oh my dear son"
Jeonghan fell into her embrace as she wrapped her arms around him. He couldn't dare cry in front of his father. It was hard enough for the man when he finally accepted his sexuality. His father smiled at him proudly.
"Thank you son"
Jeonghan nodded but deep inside of him, he had made up his mind that this wasn't a marriage. It was merely a business contract.
Thanks for checking this new story out. We hope it is worth the time
