Small Update and a Bit of Surprise Bonus

Hello everyone, It's me Bravekabuto58... Heh heh, surprise I'm not dead and I think some of you were thinking I "was." To put some readers doubts to rest, I'm alive and well but I do believe I owe a bit of explanation as to why I haven't been doing any work on my stories as of late.

First off, I am still working on Date Rise! (My Zero-One X Date-A-Live crossover) and I will do my best to get it out as best I can.

Second, the reason I haven't been publishing anything as of recent is that I have been coming down with a bit of case of "procrastination" as a well as a little bit of life in a matter of speaking. For one, I've been busy helping my folks around the house with dishes and laundry. I really like helping them out as well as hanging out with my family. Fortunately there was time for me to see the final episode of Zero-One (Totally worth it, a perfect end to the start of a Era! Take off toward a Dream!).

As for the procrastinating on my part, I'll try to get that out of my system and get back on track as soon as I can, even if it mean I have to pull some all-nighter just to get my stories done right!

Now I know this was short in terms of an update, but I needed to get this off my chest and let you know what's been going on here with me the last couple of months! With that said, I feel like I want to discuss something that's been on my mind as of late after watching a certain set of videos on YouTube. Something that re-sparked something inside of me from my childhood of something that I liked growing-up.

One word, Pokémon!

I actually grew up with the series, both video games and the Anime series (Minus Black and White, X and Y and Sun and Moon animes, the game I did grow up with.) Most of them, I've played to my heart's delight and some that still give me some fun after completing them. Especially the Mystery Dungeons series of Pokémon games. It's kind of my second favorite thing in my life, first being obviously Kamen Rider. (I might be even interested in making a crossover of those two series in time.)

After exploring YouTube during my procrastinating, I came across a certain type of video from various Poké-Tubers with a single question that sparked an interest that I wanted to due for a while. That idea being "If they were a Pokémon Gym Leader." Now this idea is kind of a cool one that really caught my attention since as I already said, I grew up with the series when I was a kid and the idea of becoming a gym leader never truly stuck with me but after being introduced to Gym Challenges in Pokémon Sword and Shield and seeing a couple videos on what other people's "What if" gyms were like I kind of wanted to see what kind of gym I would come up with and how I would tie into the story.

So right now at this moment, I feel like talking about "What if I was a Pokemon Gym Leader" to you guys.

Now to start of the bat, I'd be a part of the Galar region in Pokémon Sword as it's ninth Gym Leader. Yes I know that there are only eight Gym Leaders in both Sword and Shield and across Pokémon games in general, but in all honest I feel like having a surprise Gym Leader to fight before a tough group like the Elite Four would actually test you to see how well you trained your team.

Now the type of Pokémon I'd use and given all the other types that have been taken by the Gym Leaders of the Galar region, I'd choose Ground. As most of the types of Pokémon I like are Water or Ground. Now on to the events leading up to my gym.

After you manage to defeating Raihan at his gym in Hammerlocke, the player/you would assume they'd be able to face off against Leon, but instead after them reach the main area outside the gym by the Pokémon Center your will be greeted by Bea who is there getting ready for her participating in the Champion Cup.

When you meet her, she will congratulate them on managing beating Raihan but tell you that there's still one more Gym Leader left for them to face. She will then explain that my gym is in the mountains off Route 10 toward Circhester. Then as the conversation comes to a close, Bea will then ask you if she could tag along. If the player/you says yes, then she will accompany you across Galar and battle alongside you until you reach the gym. If the player/you say no, then she says she understands and then leaves. Regardless of what the you choose, you will end up meeting Bea again.

After leaving Route 10, you will end up on Route 11 which climbs up the mountains towards the city of Touto as a little easter egg for Rider fans but that won't be the only one. This route is you will not only encounter various trainers, but also various Steel and Grass type Pokémon and as you climb higher you will also encounter some Flying Pokémon as well.

As you reach the end of Route 11, one of two things will happen. If the player/you choose to let Bea accompany you on your journey, she will then begin talking about me and tell you that while I may have one of the strongest team aside from Leon, but in truth I'm not such a bad guy. Bea then tell the player/you that she acknowledges me as a pretty good partner to train with from time-to-time. If you/the player didn't let her accompany her, you end up meeting her when she's facing off against a group of mysterious trainers (Not Team Yell), either way you end up fighting against a group of mysterious trainers with Bea in a Double Battle.

After defeating the mysterious group, Bea thanks the player/you for helping her deal with them. She then hears a voice calling out to her, she then turns around to see me coming down the hill to check if she's okay and then apologize for not catching up to help her.

I'm wearing my Ground-Type uniform with the number 01 on the back with a Ground-Type jacket draped over my shoulder.

I then turn towards the player/you and say, "Oh! I'm sorry. I didn't see you there, you must be *insert name here*. My name's Brave, I've heard so much about you from Bea. So you managed to defeat Raihan, right? Well you must be pretty strong and I'll admit I've kind of been excited to meet you in person. Are you here for the Gym Challenge? It's okay. Take your time, I'm in no rush. I'll be waiting for you at the stadium for our match."

The Gym Challenge you face is pretty unique to say the least. In the middle of the room before the stadium which is split down the middle, there is a device in the middle of the room with four empty slot in the middle with a crank attached to it. Your objective is to find the bottles that opens the door to the stadium, however two things complicate your situation. One there's no way to get across to the other side at the moment and the place is a mess with both science equipment and sleeping bags. In order to find the bottles, the player/you will have to find and defeat the trainers holding onto the bottle in order. If you find the wrong trainer, you are forced to start the challenge over. Most of the trainers in my gym roll with level 50-55 Pokémon.

The first trainer your suppose to find is hidden in a sleeping bag fort draped between a pair of tables. There you will encounter Dark Rouge Edith, a girl pretending to be a bad guy while wearing a pair of shades in the shape of a bat. The Pokemon she has are Crobat, Hippowdon and Excadrill.

After you defeat her, you are given a bottle with a face of a Squirtle then told to find Potato Farmer Henry. He's located at a table with a bunch of spilled beakers, when you meet him he'll start getting worried about his idol. He has a Onix, Quagsire and Mamoswine. When he's defeated you are then given a Stopwatch bottle. You are then told to go to the device in middle. You have to put the bottles in a certain order and then turn the crank to access the second area.

Your next opponent is the Twins Garth and Jayden, you can find them standing beside a collapsed blanket fort next to a large beaker. These two are a unusual pair and seem to have a bit of a killer instinct. This is your first and only Double Battle in my gym. Garth has a Claydol and Marowak while Jayden has a Palossand and Mudsdale, after you defeat them you are then given the Wailmer Bottle and the player/you are told to find Explorer Tod the last trainer before you face me.

To your/the player's surprise, he's actually wait for you beside the device in the middle of the room. When you meet him, he start talking with you for a bit before you battle him. While the conversation seems normal, something about what he's saying makes it feel kind of off and when he notice it he suddenly changes the topic and starts the battle. He has a Golurk, Dugtrio, Seismitoad and Sandaconda. When you defeat him, he will give you the plane bottle and tell you that I'm waiting for you up ahead and give you a bit of advice depending on what Pokemon you have on your team and tell you/the player their chances of winning. As he goes back to where he was hiding he'll finish off his sentence by saying "Ciao."

When you enter the stadium, you find it's actually a large open area with no dome with a view of the sunset, a bunch of pillows, blankets everywhere, electric fans blowing on the area and the floor feels like your stepping on a giant bed. You'll find me lying the middle of the area just playing on a game system in the shape of Switch before realizing you/the player are here and I pull myself to my feet saying, "Oh! You're here already? Heh I suppose I shouldn't have started a new game while you were on your way here. It's just that this place is so relaxing, you just wanna lay down and just play a game or two with a friend but enough about that. You came for a battle, not chit chat but let's have fun while were throwing down. Both us and our Pokémon."

I then start out by leading off with my Krokorok. He's level 55 and a Pokemon I like to start my kick-out with for chip-damage cause if you don't have any weather changing moves then you'll definitely feel his Sandstorm and with his Moxie ability then he'll get more chill when he knock out other Pokémon. Aside from Sandstorm, he has Foul Play, Earthquake and Thrash in case things get tough.

If you manage to take him down, I'll probably send out my second or fourth Pokemon but in truth you will have a bit of trouble getting past my Vibrava. He's also level 55 with Levitate, making immune to any Ground-Type moves you plan to counter me with. For his move sets, he has Earthquake, Dragon Breath, Dig and Bite to inflict flinching.

Should you manage to get past that, my Rhydon will definite put you on guard. He's level 57 and though his Lightning Rod might not work against anything good, but it will give me some defense any Electric-Type moves you might try to use even though Ground-Types can't be affected by Electric-Types. Asides from that he has Stomp, Rock Blast, Drill Run and Flamethrower.

If you manage to get past that, My next Pokemon will definitely be something to worry about when it comes to my Steelix. He's level 58 and definitely someone take a heck of a lot of hits and definitely give throw some hard hits too. His move set consists of Iron Tail, Stone Edge, Magnet Rise and Double-Edge though his Rock Head will definitely prevent him from taking recoil damage.

Should you manage to defeat my Steelix I will then say, "Woah! I had no idea you were this strong, but that doesn't mean that I won't back down. I'm having way too much fun and I've got a feeling that I can't lose! Go Swampert!"

He's level 60 and my go-to partner when it comes to fighting the my opponents no matter how strong they are especially with his Torrent ability. He comes in clutch with his Hydro Pump as well as his Brick Break, Protect and Ice Beam. After sending out, my Swampert much like the other Gym Leaders excluding Piers I will Dynamax it.

Though if you manage to defeat me, I'll be quite surprised as I response with, "Heh I guess that feeling was me about to lose, but I have no regrets. Your Pokémon are pretty strong, I guess that means you take care of your Pokémon just as much as I do. I suppose I need to take care of mine a little bit better, but regardless you beat me fair and square so here you go. The Tremor Badge." As I hand of my badge to said player.

And that's "What if I was a Gym Leader." For those of you who came for the update part of this, I will do my best to actually get out the next chapter of Date Rise! but for those of you who stayed to the very end, what did you think of my gym and Gym Challenge? With that said, Until next time I'm Bravekabuto58 and I'll see you all next RIDER TIME!
