I stared at Eggman. Had he followed me?

"You must be Miles," he said.

I nodded slowly.

"So," he asked. "How did you get here?"

This Eggman definitely seems different.

"I, uh, don't really remember," I answered, deciding that this Eggman must be this dimension's version of Eggman. After all, this one is wearing a uniform like the boy students here.

He narrowed his eyes at me. "Is that so?"

I nodded. "Yeah."

Principle Eggman-that might take a while to get used to-tapped his chin. "Did you bump your head on the way here?"

I rubbed my head, feigning shock. "Is that why my head hurts?" The only sad part was that my head actually did hurt.

"I will take that as a yes," Eggman said more to himself then to me. "I can't just kick you out of here, that would ruin this school's reputation. But I can't leave you here either, without any payment from you. What am I going to do?" He paced back and forth for a while. "I'll leave you here for tonight and talk to the school board." Then he opened the door as he gestured for me to stand up. "Cosmo!" He barked. "Come here."

I froze halfway up. Cosmo?

Principle Eggman looked at me weirdly. "What's your problem?"

"Nothing," I mumbled and stood up all the way.

A green haired girl with flower pins at the side of her head walked in. "Yes, Mr. Eggman?"

He walked behind a desk and grabbed something, handing it to Cosmo. "Take Miles to the Nurse, then bring him to this room."

She nodded and left the room, me following behind. The group of students departed when Eggman yelled at them to leave.

Cosmo directed me to the nurse, who was pretty close to the office. She walked in and called out, "Nurse Vanilla? Are you in here?"

A tall woman walked in with tan, long hair.

"Hello Cosmo. Who's your friend?"

Cosmo blushed slightly which was really cute... Focus Tails.

"This is Miles. Principle Eggman asked me to bring him to you."

Vanilla turned to me. "What's the problem?"

"I was lying close to the school and bumped my head, but I can't really remember how I got here," I lied.

Vanilla approached me and inspected my head. I felt awkward about it, but I couldn't leave.

"Hmmm," Vanilla thought. "I can tell that there's a bump there, but it's pretty small. It shouldn't be affecting your memory."

"Well, uh, I guess I'm just unlucky then. Will I need to put ice on it or something?"

She shook her head. "Nope. You don't have to worry about it."

"Thank you," Cosmo said. "C'mon Miles, let's bring you to your room now."

I followed Cosmo out the room, but I could feel Vanilla's eyes following me.

I followed Cosmo down a few halls when I heard a familiar voice.

"He's an alien I tells ya!" A voice that sounded a lot like Sticks exclaimed. 

Up ahead I saw two girls-one resembling Sticks, the other Amy-walking in our direction.

"Sticks calm down," Amy said. "Just because he came out of nowhere doesn't mean he's an alien."

"But Knuckles said he saw him falling out of the sky!" Sticks sounded exasperated, flailing her arms like a madman. "If he fell from the sky, he's either an alien or a government agent!"

Amy and Sticks walked past us. Amy gave a small smile and waved, while Sticks glared at me, giving me the 'I'm watching you' gesture.

When they were out of earshot, Cosmo spoke. "Don't mind Sticks. She's always like that. Whenever something weird happens, she'll blame robots or the government or something."

I nodded, not wanting to start a crush. I don't want to lose another Cosmo.

Eventually, we stopped in front of a door. 312.

"You'll be staying in here for a while," Cosmo said as she unlocked the door. Then she handed me the key and turned to walk away.

"Thanks," I said.

She gave me a small smile. "Your welcome." And walked away.

I watched her as she left. Then I walked into my room.

It was decent size, with a single bed in a corner and a window above it. There was a door on the other side, probably a bathroom or a closet. Next to the door was a desk with a mirror and some drawers. I gasped when I saw myself.

I looked to be about 15 years old and a human. My hair was orange like my fur, but the end had some white on it. I wore an orange sweater, unzipped. Underneath was a white shirt. I had dark blue jeans on, but my shoes were the same. I still had my gloves and my special watch. And, of course, I had my tails and ears.

"If no one else has tails and ears, how come I kept mine?" I mumbled.

To test them out, I started rotating my tails and started hovering above the ground. "At least I can still fly. But how can I hide them?"

I ruffled my hair and managed to hide my ears, but my tails were going to be a different story.

Deciding to deal with that later, I pressed a button on my watch. "Sonic? Can you hear me?"

I heard static. I waited five minutes for a reply. Just when I was about to give up, I heard his voice. "Tails?-that you? Are-ok?-are you?"

I whooped with glee. Sonic heard me!

"I seem to be in another dimension or world or something. I don't know how I'm going to get back."

After another five minutes, he answered: "What?"

Sonic must be having a hard time hearing me, like I am with him. Hmmm... I'm going to have to increase the frequency so we can hear each other. But doing that with this ordinary watch would destroy it. I would need a powerful alternate power source. Like... The Chaos Emeralds! Did they come here with me?

I collapsed on my bed. It wouldn't be a smart idea to go now. I might get in trouble, and I don't think I should let anyone here know about them. I'll just have to hope I get all seven emeralds before anyone else does.

Woohoo! I got another chapter! So, how are you liking this book so far? Do you think Tails is going to develop feelings for Cosmo? This does seem like another chance for him to have her again, doesn't it?
