Sometimes I find myself reevaluating the choice of profession I made, of being a law enforcement officer, and being made to subject myself to these horrid circumstances I find myself constantly in. Death, suicide, crimes of passion, homicide.

It is all too much at times but I remind myself of the sole reason I chose to be a cop. To right wrongs, follow in my parents footsteps, and changes with in. Well— try to. To bring justice to those without a voice and the victims of abuse. I became a part of the system that I knew all my life and who I'd trust.

But there are dark days. Much like the phone call made by the Sinnerman, even if he is locked up in the holding cell right now. The poor girl. The girls pleading screams haunted me, over and over, as I wince listening to the audio file.

" The Sinnerman was in custody when this woman was abducted, which means he's working with someone on the outside." Declared Pierce, pointing out a obvious contradiction to how it would be quite physically impossible for the Sinnerman to be in two places at the same time which I had to agree with but he could have an accomplice working on his payroll, pausing the audio decryption. " An accomplice."

" We got to think about this in a way like he does. He'd need a fall man, because he'd knew we would eventually get him so he needed someone to take the reins on his jobs. We find him and we will be lead to the girl." I addressed the situation with a tensed voice, unsettled by the audio I can still hear in my mind, turning my self around to Ella. " What do we know about her, Ella?" I asked her, running a hand on my arm to self soothe my body from its chilled reactive nature.

" Uh, yeah. Maggie Cole, twenty six, lives in echo park. Tech tried pinging her cell, but the battery's gone dead." She has a pretty smile. I thought, as I allow myself to stare at her ID portrait for her Californian license identification registered for all the people who live in the state of California. " She is a little bit older than you, Liz. That's, like, super freaky how you two are close in age. It's so scary how she and y... never mind. Shut up, Ella. You talk too much." Ella mutters, scolding herself for almost mentioning how I was taken to by the man I am thankful is no longer alive and in my life. " Sorry 'bout that, Lizzie."

" What if we try to get a trace off the Sinnerman's phone?"

" Blocked and rerouted through a server in Delhi, so, like, zilch way to track her, which is.."

" Wonderful news."

Lucifer rejoiced, with a sign of sarcasm laced in his humourless voice, which i looked at him puzzled. He certainly had a way of making situations more difficult to concentrate on with his quick of the tongue.

" It means we can save the life of poor, doomed Maggie the far more expedient way."

He's suggesting we let the known murderer out on the street and lead us to Maggie.

" We are not letting the Sinnerman out of here."

That is one thing I can agree on. I don't feel at all comfortable with the Sinnerman being out and in the world, his knowledge of me and Lucifer made it twice as perpendicular to my own sanity. Stress had a mean grip on me. " He clearly desires his freedom and is likely telling the truth. Following his lead will be much faster than running down clues, dodging red herrings, and following up on random tips every Tom, dick and Dullard." Said Lucifer, exclaiming his point in a rather odd way I could briefly understand. An Oxymoron or not he does proved the point that we need him to get to Maggie. " You get what I am saying, Darling?"

Uncle Dan and my dad both entered the room at the same time. Dad leant an arm on an plexiglass window to the side of uncle Dan, he flashed me a faint light smile. " Hey. Uh, Uni's, they checked out the parking lot at Maggie's apartment. There is no sign of her or her car." Uncle Dan disclosed, glancing at dad. " Nathan and I went there earlier in the day, when the call first came in, and check the entire apartment building asking neighbours if they have any information but no one seen her either." Uncle Dan motioned to dad at the back, using his head, and I nodded slowly at the info.

" There you go! Obi-wan can't-see-me is Maggie's only hope."

" This is an obvious escape plan."

" Lieutenant, as much as I want to agree with you on this, I am with Lucifer." I admit, breathing in. " We have a much greater chance of getting her.. of getting her back if we let the Sinnerman out of here and take him with us so he can locate her."

" No." Affirms the lieutenant. " Find another way to get her. I am not Allowing you to be near him. End of story." He made his exit, walking off out of the space itself, and I wanted to go after him as I am almost convinced he's doing this spitefully. I kept my cool, head held high, sticking with a flat stare at his back side. Dick. Mind my language.

" Fine. Fine. If you insist on doing it the long way and investigate, we may as well hurry up and get back to my idea that will be inevitably used here."

Beats doing nothing and being at a crossroad. I suppose.

Roller skating is a sport that I admire. I've never tried to roller skate, before, when I was a human. I had the displeasure of having two left feet but I am pretty positive I could do it with perfection of balance thanks to my supernatural durability and physical strength to keep myself from falling face first. I could hear the dozens of people cheering, hollering on the stands, while the competitors are in the roller rink doing some practices races. My eyes take in the bright dark pink fluorescent spot light that follows the skaters in the caged zone of the rink.

The smell alone of the beer, mixed with greased hands of pizza and ketchup covered fingers that is waffling in the air, is a senses overload for my own good.

We were here on behalf of Maggie, her roller derby pin she wore on her ID proved to us a good clue for her to be found, which made it an easier to distinguish herself out of the case cause of her pin. Roller skating rink meant more people who might have or might not have seen her.

" And there they are! The bombastic blazing banshees and their decidedly devious opponents, the derby divas! Give them Both a good round of applause! They're all out there fighting, ladies an' gents."

The announcer called out to the audience of wild supporters. I admired the sport, it seemed a little intimidating to watch these talented group of girl athletes compete in competitions such as these at home but in person it's a whole other level of fun.

" Okay, from my understanding. The Derby divas are versing the blazing banshees who are Derby's most notorious rivalry. From where I'm standing it looks like the blazing banshees fans make up, if not all, the entire stand." I stated, staring out at a sea of hot pink which matched the colours of the pin Maggie had on in the picture, and I winced at the offensive manoeuvre made one of the blazing banshees made. " Oh, I think that was a sausage."

" Wait, so these aren't ladies?"

Said a real confused Lucifer, searching the ladies for their Sausage in their yoga shorts, and in an effort to not laugh at his confusion of the term of the pit move I shake my head. " No, that isn't the meaning that I am trying to say. It simply means that shove we just saw is an illegal move but with roller skating playing dirty equals a chance to get in front." I learnt the rules on the way here with a little help from Ella and google. I have to give her a big thank you for the information. " I also learn the basis of this sport thanks to Aunt Chloe and I taking Trixie to a race one day."

" Well, as much as I find this trip down memory lane touching all the spots I would usually have abhorred to be touched, we are here to find and hunt down Maggie. And so I can prove my point that my method is much better." Lucifer pointed out, enjoying the sight of all the colourful roller Derby participants in their chosen team colours. " Hello." He spots a girl with her brown hair in a slicked two-braid style, her hair is held together with pink feather boa's, and pink glitter inside of her inner lids. " You wouldn't suppose have any information, that could help us, on a mission girl. Maggie Cole? Hmm." This caught her attention.

" The slayer is missing?"

" When was the last time you saw Maggie? Do you two know each other?"

" Uh, she ditched practice yesterday, she hasn't returned my calls since.. she got into one doozy of a booby brawl with our blocker, Helena HandBasket."

I didn't have to wait long until Lucifer broke into a smile, it was one of those infamous smiles of his he reserved for comments about immature things such as last names that had an ironically similar meaning to a word he uses, and I closed my eyes. " Helena HandBasket? Very clever." He said, he then provided me a quick look to see if I would laugh at it but when he seen I didn't react the way he wanted he then pouted, clearing his throat.

" Took both our pivots to break it up."

" Let me guess."

Lucifer did a point of his finger at one of the girls roller skating, aka our blocker, side checking a Derby diva making her grunt at the impact of the shoulder charge.

" That's her. Helena."

" You didn't hear it from me."

The race is beginning to heat up. While I'm busy trying to not get distracted by the traffic of ladies in pink and yellow shirts on the skater rink, my eyes locked on to Helena waving her down. " Hey there, Helena! We just..." she shot past me with a precise, quick, but short 'I'm busy'. She goes on to roll around to the other side of the rink, there being tiny screeches made from the wheels on the roller shoes they were in, and she came back. " I just need to ask you a few.." She's gone again.

" Eat me!"

Oh, I have enough of this. I flashed my badge up to her. " LAPD!" That made her come to a rolling halt, pun intended, and there is clear alarm with which made her break into a head start ahead of me causing the runners to exclaim in opposition. She is not getting away. I have to play this safe, not risk hurting anyone. I take off at a pace that I would have to use normally when I'm around the humans, watching her create a havoc.

She really is making this way more complicated than it had to be. I had my eyes trained on her, as she ducked out of the rink to evade Lucifer who was causally strolling around the other side of the rink as she shoved an older rounder man into a vacated but full popcorn vendor machine. But he made a spot at an attendee selling beer.

" Do you think this is an appropriate time to get.."

He puts a beer up, to his lips to take a sip, and I used my hands in question to why he's taking a break for himself when Helena is still rolling sound. Then I am taken by shock after he decides to use it as an excuse to wet the floor making it slippery for our escapee to slip and fall into a shelf of helmets. That was honestly a smart idea.

" There you go, darling! Now you can put our little runway in cuffs. But I have to say I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't finish my beer!"

I could only but shake my head at Lucifer with an empty cup, I had taken off of him, in hand I give it back to him after he made the comment about his beer going to waste.

Taking Helena to 'The sin bin' which is basically a section for the roller Derby teams to sit at when a foul move is made, I looked around at all of the players who were continuing their race without a word of mouth about their blocker being called in by the cops, and I sighed. " I don't know what the sin bin is, but I approve." Lucifer mentioned how he liked the name of the box, which is ironic if it wasn't obvious to the name, and I shrugged one of my shoulders.

" It's a penalty box, Luc." I explained. " Anyway. I want to know why you ran? Mind explaining it to us why you decided it was a good idea to book it when I said we were LAPD?"

" Because you were chasing me."

" No, it was after I said LAPD. You ran 'cause you realised we're cops."

" Typical Maggie. It's all her fault. I knew she'd rat me out."

What did she mean by that? Ratted her out? She sounds pissed. " So... hold on. You're saying you did abduct Maggie?"

I couldn't focus on anything other than Helena's Mohawk hairstyle, it is a big squared up-do hair sprayed to stay in place so it wouldn't disrupt her racing style, and I try to put my focus back on the case. It's quite unique. Cool. " Wait? What? No, I just roughed her up a bit. She stole my spot as lead Jammer. You know, after faith kill had that car accident, Maggie didn't deserve that position. She can't even snowplow!" I nodded, slowly, along while I listened to Helena go on with the rant about her being the one deserving of Faith's position. 'Interesting' I internally mumbled.

" Where were you? Last night? Do you have alibi that can help place at your whereabouts?"

" I was on fresh meat patrol."

" Oh. Good on you, Helena."

Lucifer, obliquely, said with a toothy grin which he interpreted her saying she was looking for a new guy friend but I debunk it rather quickly for his own good and sake. " It's not what you think it means, Luc. It's term for training a new crew of girls for the team." I explained, Helena seemed to be mellowing down from her attempt escapade as of before. And a little impressed with how much I knew about roller skating.

" I was here all night. I didn't abduct no one."

" What about Maggie's car? Did you see her car here at the rink parking lot?"

" Nah. Free lot over on sixth."

I guess it's time for us to go check the car park. So much for wanting to enjoy the roller Derby.

I had so much on my mind these days. Personal life to my professional one it seemed like they're merging into one another that I didn't really stop to realise how much it had changed my whole life as a result. I just wanted it to stop for once, in an effort to make it more easier for me to put all of my focus on what matters. Solving these murders and my career as a police officer.

Add onto it with the Sinnerman knowing of me, of who I am, it made me want to punch whatever the nearest building is down to the grown into a pile of rubble.

" What's got you thinking so hard about, Darling? Care to share it with little old Lucifer or..?"

I snapped my head around to Lucifer, sighing the deepest I've done today. Heavy with conflicting thoughts. " When I was in there, in the interview room, the Sinnerman said something which left me shaken and disturbed." I admit, finally, with the weight of it being extruded from my mind. He cocked his head as if to ask me to explain further.

" He knows, Luc. He knows 'bout me too, how I am not a human anymore. Me being an angel!" I exclaimed, thinking hard to all the times I think I was careful to not let myself expose my identity, putting a hand over my mouth out of disbelief. " How could he know about me? About you? It.. just doesn't make any sense for him to know of us. You being the devil, I'm an angel. Just how.."

" Wait. Wait a minute."

He made us both pause. I promised myself I wouldn't cry but here I am and I am letting them out of mv eyes. Everything is all going wrong, again. His eyes expressed what he's feeling, shock. " He said something to me, which I partially ignored 'cause I was stuck in a bloody cold abandoned storage freezer, that now I think back on it he mentioned something about you. I remember now, he said he knew of an angel that walked among the evil, that being I, who survived being shot by her birth father and came back as a child of god." He said the word god, venomously. " Now it's all coming together. Yeah, I remember. Oh when I get my hands on him he's gonna wish he'd had more than his eyes gouged out from.."

" It's not that, Luc. Well, actually it's partially of course the reason why I feel this strongly.." My head shakes, trying to get myself back together. " I haven't been okay for a while. Everything has been changing so quick." My voice became quiet, Lucifer allowed me to gather my thoughts with a sympathetic longing stare on his features as we stood in the middle of a free parking lot, hands in an encased crossed motion.

" You, me. It feels.. as if we are drifting further apart and I didn't want to admit it but that is what I've been feeling like.. has happened. Which is stupid to say out loud."

He seemed genuinely shocked by the revelation I made. He fell silent, more serious I had seen him before be, as if to think about his next words and how to answer me. " I can promise you, Darling, it was never the intention to make you feel like I am pulling away from you. If anything I'm trying to actively make sure you and I stay in the same proximity as possible as it can be for us to be able to get. I did.."

He seemed lost for words after his admission and I faintly smiled, touched by how he admitted to wanting to stay real close to me as possible. Then it fell. He's said it in the past but only to break the promise of never wanting to stay true to his words. I don't know if I should believe him or not again.

" Well, well, what do we have here. I believe that is Maggie's car. Well— I hope it is and not to be a guy to profile one's taste in automobiles."

Lucifer explained, in regards to a pink and black coloured muscle car which fit the description of a roller Derby skater girl whose uniform had those two specific colours on the teams tank tops, and I got my phone out to check the details. He's right. I nodded. " The plates check out, this is her car."

I confirmed then I stared at Lucifer, confused as I follow him to the car and I profusely say 'No'. We had to wait until forensics cleared up the scene, I learnt the hard way on my first week when I had a few errors made by forgetting my gloves when I had a momentary moment of panic, and put my hand on lucifer arm. " You can't do that, Luc. We have to wait until I call aunt Chloe and uncle Dan here with the others." I remind Lucifer, which he scoffed at with his face dramatically puffed out.

" Do you want to get to Maggie faster or shall we waste even more of her precious time..?"

Something didn't feel right, the moment Lucifer's hand touched the handle of the pink automobile. I casted my eyes down and noticed a string which is coincidentally connected straight to the dead-bolt of a grenade rigged to set off as soon as the drivers side of opened, with the intent of killing the driver before the car would start, and I gasp. Grabbing Lucifer, I pointed in a panic, he spotted the device to and with seconds to think we ran off to the direction of the forklift but the explosion is hot on our trail. Jumping to the ground, I grunt, Lucifer leverage his arm around me as a shield.

I blinked from the initial shock of Lucifer's body being on top of mine, using himself as a shield of protection we both knew would have been fatal. I didn't think he would have done anything of that calibre to prevent the blast from hurting me and most definitely not that. Then flashbacks of the day he used his body to take the bullets of jimmy Barnes's gun, in his studio, came back to me and I feel my face burn.

He did it, again.

" You did it again. You found a great opportunity to get on top of me, again. Just like in that studio all those years ago, you know the first day we met and in jimmy Barnes's studio."

" You make it sound dirtier than it was, Darling. In my defence, jimmy virtually sealed his fate by being a slob and making the mistake of shooting you." He retorted, he hadn't moved to get off of me not that I didn't mind his face being his close to mine, I on instinct touch his cheek feeling the rough warmth of his chiseled stubble chin under my hand. He cleared his throat. " I should really get off you, now. But I quite like you under me."

" Luc."

" What? Don't tell me you don't agree with me?"

JASMINE SPEAKS;

I did a new chapter, again, finally. Thank gosh for my motivation slowly making a comeback to me.

I hopefully will be able to get season three done by the end of this month or at least the first week of December before the year's over. If not that is also completely okay with me. How did you like this chapter and update?

Ellie & Lucifer in this update, especially the end part?
