Third Person POV

"Pa, here's your prescription medicine," Yin walked over to his father who was sitting leisurely on the living room couch watching TV.

"Thank you, son," Yin's father said as he accepted the medicine. "Did you stop by somewhere else? I was expecting you back earlier than now."

"Oh, I met my first ever new friend in the city," Yin replied. "I gave him a ride back to his house."

"I'm glad you've found a new friend," Yin's father said. "Just make sure that having friends does not interfere with your studies."

"I don't think that this new friend would interfere with my studies in any way," Yin replied.

Yin wondered what Euro was doing at this time. Did he manage to catch up with JJ? If he did not, did he decide to go back home?

Yin took out his phone from his pocket and looked for Euro's number.

Yin listened as he heard the ringing on the other end until his call was directed to Euro's voice mail.

Hey this is your new friend Yin whom you met at the pharmacy parking lot. I was wondering if you wanna meet up with me sometime this afternoon or evening, or maybe tomorrow any time that you're free? Give me a call back, please?  I'll be waiting. Thank you my new friend.

AJ's POV

If I were to be totally honest, I found Lotte somewhat boring.

We were clowning around in his room while playing video games and somehow it got a little rough and I accidentally pushed him to the floor. I hoped that the loud sound of his body against the floor didn't reach his mother's ears.

In just a few minutes there was a knock on Lotte's door. So much for hoping that the thud on the floor didn't reach his mother's ears.

Lotte got up from the floor and went to open the door.

"Is everything okay here, son?" I heard Lotte's mom ask.

"Yeah, yeah, no worries, mom," Lotte hastened to reassure her.

"Very well," Lotte's mom said and walked away from the door.

The rest of the evening was boring and uneventful. I realized that for all his academic excellence Lotte was not a witty conversationalist. Many of my humorous comments whooshed over his head. I started to regret that I agreed to a sleepover with Lotte. I was sure that I would have enjoyed it more if I had spent the time with Euro and JJ.

I remembered how JJ and I had so much fun in Euro's company. Euro was a natural comedian. He got all my jokes and responded in kind. I could never outdo him in puns and funny story telling.

Looking back I would sometimes feel jealous whenever I happened to be busy and JJ and Euro would go off together without me.

At that time I did not want to admit it even to myself that I was feeling a growing attraction to Euro but I suppressed it because, hey, c'mon, who would be stupid enough to fall for one's own best friend. I never confided in JJ about it because I knew that he would mercilessly tease the heck out of me if he found out.

The following morning, Lotte tried to convince me to stay after breakfast but I said that I had to attend to something. I was of course just making it up and was thankful that Lotte did not ask me to elaborate.

I told Lotte's mom that there was no need for her to give me a ride home. I was just going to take the five minute bus ride back home.

I had my own duplicate key to our gate so I let myself in without having to use the buzzer.

I almost lost my balance when I saw JJ and Euro kissing at the top step of our porch.
