For those who might not have watched "Never Let Me Go", she played the role of Pond's mother. Her name is Panadda Ruangwut. In this story she will be Lotte's mother.

Mrs. Promsatitkul's POV

I looked at my wrist watch as I sat in my SUV which I parked just outside my son's school gate.

I wondered what was taking Lotte longer than usual.

I glanced at my watch once more. Hmm... he's fifteen minutes later than his usual appearance outside the school gate.

I pulled my phone from my purse and was getting ready to call him when I saw him emerge from the school gate.

Wait, he's with JJ again??? And why is he holding JJ's hand as if JJ did not know how to cross the street safely by himself???

"Hi, Mom!" my son greeted me with a bright and cheerful smile as if he had just won the lottery.

"This here is..." my son starts to say, holding up JJ's hand.

"... is JJ, I know, son," I say to Lotte, "You have introduced him to me before, remember?"

"Mom, this is isn't JJ," my son said with just a hint of frustration in his face and in his voice. "This is AJ. He is JJ's identical twin."

"Oh! I would never have guessed that he wasn't JJ," I said, studying AJ's face carefully, not finding anything, any mark that I could use to distinguish him from JJ.

"Mom," my son interrupted my thoughts and my intent studying of AJ's face. "It's a Friday, so can I please bring him home with me?"

"Bring him home???" I got alarmed. "Has he gotten permission from his parents to come live with us permanently???"

"Mom!!!" Lotte got more frustrated by the minute. "I didn't mean permanently, I meant just for tonight."

"Okay but do his parents know? Has he gotten permission from his parents to sleep over at our house tonight?" I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't be accused of kidnapping AJ.

"I have told my brother JJ to let our parents know," AJ spoke up for the first time. "If there's any problem he's going to call me."

"Okay then," I said. "Let's go. Make sure you're both using the safety belts."

On the drive home, I asked AJ, "Are you allergic to any food?"

"I'm allergic to peanuts," AJ replied.

"Any thing else?" I asked.

"That's about it," he replied.

"Okay, thanks for letting me know," I said. "I will make sure to tell our housekeeper Rosie not to use peanuts in any of the dishes that she prepares this evening."

"Thank you, ma'am," I heard AJ say. Such a polite young man.

I happened to look in my rear view mirror.

Lotte was staring at AJ's face, with a wide smile and a look of adoration.

Oh dear, I believe my son is falling for AJ.

"Are you both in the same class?" I asked my son.

"No, Mom," my son replied. "AJ is here for a short vacation. Right now he goes to school in London as a foreign exchange student."

"Oh! He must be pretty smart," I remarked. "But then again I'm not surprised. His twin brother got a perfect score in World History recently, right? And that's why you treated him to dinner that evening?"

I observed from my rear view mirror AJ turning to my son in surprise.

"You went on a dinner date with JJ?" he raised an eyebrow at my son.

Uh oh, was my son in trouble? Was there something going on between AJ and my son that would make AJ upset with him?

"No, no, no," my son hastened to explain. "It was not a date at all. We parted ways right after dinner. I just accompanied him to the bus stop and then I went home by myself."

"Oh, okay," I heard AJ say.

Whew, why was I the one feeling relieved after AJ said, "Oh, okay."

"We're here," Lotte announced as I pressed the control to open our gate.

I eased my SUV into our driveway.

Rosie our housekeeper was at the door to greet me and relieve me of my purse and my executive briefcase.

"Cook something special tonight," I said to Rosie. "Lotte has brought home a guest."

"Yes, ma'am," Rosie bowed respectfully to me.

"Oh and make sure not to cook anything that has peanuts as one of the ingredients," I cautioned Rosie. "Lotte's guest is allergic to peanuts."

"I understand, ma'am," Rosie said as she walked away to set down my purse and briefcase on  my desk in my den.

"You have such a big house," I heard AJ remark to my son.

"Yes," I heard my son say. "But it's an old one and it's haunted."

Okay, why would my son say something to frighten his guest. I found it weird that he would say something to discourage AJ from coming back next time. Unless... I eyed my son, trying not to think anything underhanded going on in his brains.

"Mom, I'm bringing AJ up to my room, okay?" Lotte said to me.

"Okay," I said. "I will send Rosie up to let you know when dinner is ready."

"Let's go!" I heard Lotte urging AJ, leading him up to the second floor where his bedroom was.

I went to my study which was a sunken area on the west side of the living room.

I unclasped the front of my briefcase to take out the legal documents that I wanted to review for a client.

I was very much immersed in studying the documents when I heard a loud thud coming from upstairs.

What the hell was my son up to now?

I stood up from my swivel chair.  At the exact same time there was a soft knock on my door.

It was Rosie.

"Dinner is ready, ma'am," she announced. "I will go upstairs to let Lotte and his guest know."

"No, no, no," I said. "I will go upstairs myself to let them know."
