Lotte's POV

I waited with JJ at the bus stop for his bus line to pass by.

"Thank you for accepting my invitation to treat you to dinner," I said to JJ.

"I should be the one thanking you," JJ said to me. "That mushroom burger tasted great. When did you start being a vegan?"

"I initially rebelled against it," I informed JJ. "But after my mom explained to me how it was a healthy diet and that by doing so I was preventing cruelty to animals I hopped onto the vegan wagon and never turned back."

"How long ago was that?" JJ wanted to know.

"Not too long ago," I replied. "Just over a year ago."

Just then JJ's bus came screeching by the bus stop.

JJ turned to me.

"I'll see you tomorrow then," he said, extending his hand.

I did not take it. I gave him a tight hug instead.

"See you tomorrow," I said placing my lips close to his ear.

He pulled away, giving me a startled look.

You know that look of someone who has just realized something that they had not realized before? That was the look that followed JJ's initial startled look.

I felt my cheeks growing warm. Thankfully he quickly climbed up the bus without a second glance back at me.

I stood at the stop and watched the bus pull away. How was I going to face him tomorrow?

I tossed and turned all night, my thoughts alternating from imagining myself in JJ's strong manly arms to anxious thoughts about how he would react towards me when he sees me at school tomorrow.

Thankfully the next day was mostly arts and music and PE. I managed to avoid being in JJ's company by practicing my piano piece that I had to present to our music teacher.

Soon school ended with my not having to interact with JJ.

I started to feel sad and lonely as I walked towards the school exit where I was going to cross to the other side of the street where I usually found my mother's SUV waiting for me.

I thought I was going to end the school day without having to interact with JJ but there he was by the school gate standing beside Euro. They seemed to be in deep conversation. I wondered if I should just slip by them unnoticed or if I should say a quick 'good bye, see you tomorrow' to JJ and Euro.

I was gonna try to hurry past them without being noticed but Euro turned his head and saw me.

JJ saw me as well.

"Bye, Euro, bye JJ,"  I said with a fake bright smile.

"I'm not JJ," said JJ.

What game was he trying to play with me. I decided to play along.

"Okay, bye, whoever you choose to be," I said with an air of indifference.

"Lotte," Euro grabbed my wrist before I could walk farther away. "This is AJ. He's JJ's twin brother. He just came back from London for a short vacation. We're waiting for JJ, Have you seen him?"

I looked closely at the face of the person whom I thought was JJ.

My heart fluttered in my chest. It was a different kind of fluttering, something similar to how my heart fluttered whenever I see JJ but this was a more intense kind, the kind that made me want to go and grab a cold drink because it made my throat feel dry.

Suddenly I noticed that AJ was extending his hand to me.

I blushed at the thought that he must have noticed that I had been staring at him and had not noticed that he had been holding out his hand to me.

I took his hand, unable to get a single word out of my mouth.

"So you are Lotte," I heard AJ say. "I've heard so much about you."

"Uh oh, I hope no one has been saying bad things about me," I said anxiously.

"On the contrary," AJ was saying. "I heard that you are the star student of this school."

"Not true," I said. "Euro here is the top student of this school."

"They take turns with that title." someone said behind me.

I turned around. JJ stood smiling behind me.

I smiled at him, no longer feeling awkward about yesterday evening.

My thoughts were now focused on his eye candy of a brother AJ.
