Park Ona

"Ona," A voice whispered into my ear, making my eyes squeeze tighter. "Wake up." A gentle nudge was placed against my shoulder, causing my body to shift slightly.

"Aniyo." I turned on my side away from the irritable sound. He can't do this to me and wake me up on a Saturday.

I heard an angry sigh from over my shoulder, making a small smile spread on my face. Staying up all night from dusk until dawn, studying, I needed a chance to bury my face in a pillow and be left alone for hours. I need the soft comforts of a blanket, the smell of my lavender sheets. Jimin can't ruin that.

"I'm older. You have to listen to me." Jimin slightly whined. I can already imagine my brother's shoulders sagging and lips pouting. He may be older, but my mind was a lot more mature.

I turned over in my bed to see him standing close to my bed, bright orange hair messy to show he's ran his hand through a few times. I loved my brother. He's been taking care of me since we were younger. Our parents were at work most of the time, never seeming to have enough free time to say even a simple 'Hello' to us. But I was fine with that.

"I always listen to you," I groaned and pulled my sheets closer to my chin. "Why don't you go hang out with friends?" I sighed.

Usually I am following my brother everywhere and listening to his lectures or advice. But right now, I needed a little me time. My brother doesn't like when I close myself in my room and playing console games. He wants me to get out and enjoy myself, but I prefer the warmth of home.

"That's what I want to do, but you're making it difficult," He grabbed my sweet sheets and ripped them away from me. Then, with a simple movement, grabbed my legs and dragged me off the bed. He smiled with satisfaction as I sighed, glaring up at him from my position on the floor. "The guys want to see you, pabo. So, get showered and dressed. Don't make me come back here and drag you to the bathroom."

With a ruffle of my hair, Jimin left, leaving me tired and pouting.

Why must the younger sibling have no choices? Why can't I just forget the world and enjoy silence.

But of course, I listened to my brother and took a warm shower, waking me up just a tiny bit. I closed my eyes as the warm water patterned at my sleepy face, causing me to feel relaxed. I washed myself up, making me feel more fresh and awake. The bathroom smelled of strawberry soap as I stepped out. I brushed my teeth while successfully blow drying my long brown locks at the same time. I hummed a tune while swaying a little, getting caught up in the moment until harsh pounding came from my bathroom door.

"Yah! Ona! We need to go, so hurry up!" Jimin yelled. You can't rush a woman when she's in the process of making herself look great for the world's benefit. Obviously, Jimin hasn't realized that.

"Aish, this kid." I muttered, low enough so it was drowned out by the loud noise of the hair dryer. Finishing up, I applied light make-up and a streak of candy scented perfume across my body.

I was in the process of pulling on my velvet, black boots when, once again, Jimin barged in, looking rushed.

"Are you ready?" He asked.

"Yes, thanks to you. I feel like I took the fastest shower ever." I chuckled, tugging down my black sweater to end in the middle of my thighs and followed him outside, the chilly October air making me wish I brought a jacket but knew Jimin would pull me back outside if I went to retrieve one.

"Ona Noona! You're coming?" I heard Jungkook's voice come from the large, black truck parked outside my home. His dark head popped out the window in the backseat, a huge grin on his face. I rolled my eyes and pointed at Jimin, letting him know the reason behind my presence.

"You need sun. Don't complain to me when you blend into the wall." Jimin smirked as he rushed me into the other side of the car, making me squeeze inside next to Yoongi so he was in between me and Jungkook. Jimin climbed over the three of us to end up in the backseat next to Hoseok, who was leaning against the window.

"Put your seatbelts on." Jin said from the driver's seat as he quickly tore away from the curb, picking up speed down the quiet streets.

My brother's friends are mine, basically. Never going out much and being very shy around people at school, I never really got the chance to grow a friendship. I've always wanted to, but never grasped the courage to commit to the idea. So, Jimin, being the nice older brother that he is, decided to make me befriend his. He felt bad that I wasn't able to bring a friend home or even text one for that matter. The thought of introducing his friends to me happened when I was playing in the backyard by myself when I was younger.

Jimin has known these boys for many years now. Always getting in trouble with them or staying up all night until eventually they all crash at someone's house. Basically, I've known each person in this car all my life.

"Where are we going?" I asked, moving closer to the window since I was practically almost on Yoongi's lap.

"Picking up Taehyung." Namjoon said from the passenger seat, his light pink hair blowing in the open window. Even though Jin was the eldest of these boys, Namjoon had been voted as team leader. As in, they seriously had a vote in my family's living room with a whiteboard and everything.

My heart beat faster at the mention of that one boy's name. Kim Taehyung. A childhood crush of mine and a wild bachelor in the group. He wasn't a playboy or party animal per say, but he did have a reputation for doing insane things. One time, he tried to do a dangerous bicycle flip off a large cliff and into dark waters until Namjoon practically pushed him off before he could pretty much kill himself.

When I was younger, I always admired him when he came over to hang out with Jimin. He'd have this child-like grin on his face and a hyper way of talking. He would always ask me about my day and wanted me to hang out with the group. It's sad to know that it's been almost a year since I have seen him. He's either in the next town doing something random or I'm too busy with my school work, but today I was finally going to see if he's changed much.

Jin turned sharply around the street corner, making me fly into Yoongi's side, causing him to move abruptly. I groaned as I lifted myself off of him, apologizing.

"Yah! Can't you take it easy?" Hoseok cried from the back, rubbing his head that must have hit the window.

"I'm practicing." Jin laughed.

"For what? A speeding ticket?" Yoongi huffed as he turned the music in his earbuds louder, trying to drown out the world.

"The drag race tomorrow. Taehyung talked me into it." Jin shrugged and sped a yellow light right when it was about to flash red, making car horns blare at him.

There was his name again and at the end of a crazy idea. I swear, one day, I'm going to be skydiving from a plane or scuba diving with sharks. Taehyung would go to those extreme measures.

"And, here." Jin parked harshly into the parking space, causing all of us to jolt forward. Luckily seat belts were all on and no one flew out the window.

"Next time, drive like you have a police officer behind you." Hoseok groaned as he jumped out, still rubbing his poor head.

"That's exactly what I was doing." Jin chuckled, slamming his door as he got out.

I followed them all and saw we were outside of a cheap grocery store. The place was dreary and dirty; trash littering the gutters and the graffiti painting the walls of the store colorful.

I felt really uneasy as I looked around me, spotting a few outsiders looking rugged, so I stood by Jimin's side, feeling safer near my brother. He noticed and sighed, wrapping a brotherly arm around my shoulders and lightly patting me.

"Where is that, idiot?" Namjoon looked around the window of the store, trying to peer inside.

"Why not go in?" I questioned, shaking from the cold breeze that passed by.

"Because he said not to." He sighed. Why would Taehyung not want us to come inside? First off, it's so cold I feel like I might become the first human snowman. Second, what's so bad that we can't step foot inside his store?

We were outside for what seemed like an eternity until Taehyung stumbled out, a bright orange lollipop in his mouth and a satisfied grin on his face.

"If you come in here again, I'll call the cops!" The manager, I believe, had followed him outside, eyes burning into Taehyung's as he threatened him.

"It was just a quick swig. I put the cap back on!" Taehyung shrugged, seeming very innocent at that moment. A smirk was evident on his face as the store manager was getting frustrated with him. Honestly, who wouldn't if no one was taking you seriously at a moment like this?

"And what about all the bottles on the floor?" The manager questioned. I watched as the two bickered, knowing Taehyung once again decided to be reckless and did whatever he wanted.

"Merely a coincidence that those happened to be on the floor near me." Taehyung chuckled as the manager cursed him before going back inside. All of us stared at the foolhardy boy in front us, judgement written on everyone's faces.

Taehyung just smiled. "Guys! You made it! Just in time too. I'm feeling a tad woozy."

I looked at him and saw he had changed a great deal since I last saw him. His personality and actions were definitely the same, but his looks were not. His dyed, sandy blond hair that I remembered was colored back to a dark, hazelnut brown and his eyes were darker. His style used to be boyish, but now he was clothes in a plain, black shirt and ripped blue jeans. More bad boy than the silly, Taehyung that I knew.

"Can't you be still for one moment?" Namjoon pushed Taehyung into the car, needing to buckle his seat belt for him for Taehyung's hand were too busy holding his lollipop to his mouth.

"Can you not be an old man for a minute? I was just having some fun." Taehyung chewed on the orange ball. Namjoon gave him a long, lecturing stare before sighing and ushered me in. I was about to protest until Jungkook moved next to me, causing me to be stuck in the middle. I felt my heart beat a bit faster once more as Taehyung's arm was against mine.

"Let's go. I think the manager is actually calling the cops." Jimin said and before I knew it, the car jeered forward again and onto the busy streets.

Taehyung was casually glancing out the window, head lulling around as he sucked his lollipop. He definitely was somewhat tipsy for his eyes were half closed and not to mention his whole body smelled of alcohol.

"Who's this?" Taehyung's hand landed on my knee. My body froze as I looked at his face. His eyes were closed and his head was against the headrest, hair brushing into his face, but his hand did not move from my knee.

"Taehyung-Ah," I whispered. "It's me Ona."

His eyes fluttered open and a lazy smile appeard on his face. Before I knew it, my body was wrapped up in his arms and he was moving side to side. "Aigoo. My little shy dongsaeng. Where have you been? Camping out in your room again? It feels like ages since I've seen you." I felt as if my body was in a sauna because being near him caused a sweating and heart thumping attitude. It's been a while but my emotions seemed to have the same reaction like a long time ago.

"Yah, careful with my sister, pabo. She's fragile." Jimin knew I had a faint crush on his friend. Back then he would pester me about it and tease me, now he doesn't like the idea of any boy, and probably now Taehyung, even touching me.

"I'm fine," I smiled and moved away from Taehyung. If I didn't I would be feeling those butterflies once again in my stomach and I wouldn't be able to get rid of them. "So, what now? Can I go home and watch one of my shows?"

"No!" They all said in unison, except for Taehyung who was too tipsy to even utter anymore words.

"You're in our car, so you have to do what we say." Hoseok said from the backseat, patting my shoulder.

"But I'm tired. I was studying all night for my test Monday." I sighed. Why can't I just curl up in my bed?

"Then don't study. Simple," Taehyung muttered. "Plus, you need to go outside once in a while. Let that pretty face get some sun. I can tell its been a while."

I could already feel my cheeks blossoming with a cherry red color. I looked away towards Jungkook's side, staring out the window.  Taehyung was known as a charmer with the girls, always complimenting them. The guys always made fun of him for being such a ladies' man with his cheesy pick up lines and flirty winks. I didn't want to be one of those girls that fell slave to his words, but I couldn't help the childhood feelings that were coming back up into my heart.

"Oh, Ona is turning pinker than a Peony." Jungkook laughed, pinching my pale cheeks.

"Yah, who's older here?" I glared and rubbed the cheek he touched.  Sometimes Jungkook forgot that I was a year older than him, but in all honesty it didn't bother me. Just now since I was feeling weak.

"Don't worry Ona-ssi," Taehyung chuckled from my right. "I won't say it again." I looked over to see him sitting up more and smiling at me, his smile childish like always and his brown eyes holding that same excited light.

"I'm getting claustrophobic back here between these two!" Yoongi groaned, referring to the tight squeeze between Jimin and Hoseok. "Can we get out before I throw them out the windows?"

"Why don't you want to be near us, Yoongi? Aren't we enough for you?" Jimin whined as he hugged his Hyung, causing Yoongi to scrunch his face in playful disgust and Hoseok to follow my brother's actions and hug from the other side.

"Okay, well, beach anyone?" Jin pointed to his left where there was long strip of beach, golden sand and light blue waters lapping the sand.

"Yes!" Taehyung yelled, casuing a smile to appear on my face as he was pretty much jumping in his seat.

Jin drove faster to reach our destination, once again causing all of us to hold onto our seats to keep us from flying out a window. Once pulled up on the beach, it was sunset, the orange from the sun radiating a beautiful dull haze mixing in with the baby blue. I watched as Taehyung, Jungkook, and Jimin rushed towards the water, arms flailing as they splashed into the water.

The older boys followed silently, only laughing at their dongsaengs as they acted like children, splashing and calling each other silly names.

"Going in?" Yoongi asked as he sat up on the hood of the truck, tapping away at his phone. Most likely searching for a new song to play in his ears. I never understood why he was so distant from the group, but I didn't want to question. Yoongi was never one to join in on the fun or smile much, he liked the peace and quiet, almost like me. That's why we got along so well when we first met.

"No," I sat beside him. "It's too cold."

Yoongi nodded slightly. "I'm sure you'll find some warmth in there."

I furrowed my eyebrows at him not sure what he meant. Yoongi was easy to be around since he only listened or observed, but when speaking he can be confsuing. Especially now.

"What do you mean?"

Yoongi looked up from his phone to move his eyes to where the the others were swimming and splashing. I followed his gaze to the particular spot he was looking. Taehyung.

"Oppa!" I shoved him gently. This man.

"Don't act like that. He may be a childhood crush but it takes a while for that to just go away." Yoongi said, raising his eyebrows me.

"Taehyung's my friend, Yoongi. Nothing more." I said slowly so he could understand me.

"We'll see." He turned up his music louder once again.

I sighed before looking ahead of me to where they all were. Luckily, we were the only people here since most were probably returning home from work to be with family or too busy to enjoy the beach.

I smiled as I watched Jungkook get on Jimin's shoulders to try and overpower Taehyung who was creating huge splashes to hit them. Taehyung dodged them as Jimin charged, making the two fall straight into the water and laughter to pour out from Taehyung's mouth.

Taehyung then looked towards mine and Yoongi's way and I could feel my cheeks heating as he waved towards us.

"See, pabo. You're pink again." Yoongi wasn't even looking at me, as if he had another pair of eyes on the side of his head. Sometimes, Yoongi frightened me.

"Aniyo! I'm just cold." I wrapped my arms around myself. As the sun fell below the ocean, night gathered and the cold became unbearable to me. I was going to freeze here and be made an ice sculpture if I didn't get heat.

"Let's camp here!" Taehyung smiled as the boys came back, soaking wet and tired. He fell back onto the sand, letting out a sigh of happiness as he gazed up at the blue-black sky.

"It's too cold." Hoseok complained, sitting beside the wild boy, swiping back his hair.

"There's blankets," Jin nodded to the truck. "Also I think I remember seeing some left over wood in that pit over there." He pointed to a circular firepit a little further away.

"Then we camp!" Taehyung yelled, celebrating with a howl to the sky. I chuckled as he let out his excitement.

Jimin and Namjoon grabbed the blankets while Hoseok, Jin, and Jungkook hustled out some of the gasoline from the car to help ignite the fire. I walked beside Yoongi and Taehyung towards the dark firepit, my teeth chattering from the light breeze.

"Cold?" Taehyung asked, looking down at my shivering body.

"You're not?" How could he not be from his drenched body. That water must have been freezing!

"Nah. I like the cold," He shrugged. He didn't seem to be shivering. He was looking towards the sky, squinting to make out each star. I looked at his face from his big eyes to the slant of his nose, the shape of his pink lips to the sculpted outline of his jaw. No wonder why so many girls fell to their knees whenever he walked by, he was undoubtedly handsome. No wonder I liked him as a kid, my mind whispered to me.

We waited in the cold near the pit for the others. All I could do was hop on both my feet, awaiting the embrace of a blanket Jimin and Namjoon were bringing. "Body heat helps."

I looked back at Taehyung. I couldn't see his face because of the darkness, but I heard a smile in his voice. Can he not be cheeky for a whole minute? It was like he was on flirty Tae mode 24/7.

"Aish, Kim Taehyung. Such a Byuntae." I laughed as he nudged me. This is what I prefer. The comfortable playfulness between two friends and not the awkward air of a one-sided childhood crush. I'd rather forget the tickle of the butterflies in my stomach to enjoy this silly friendship of ours.

"Blankets have arrived!" Jimin called, immediately bringing me one and hugging me as he pulled it around my frame.

"Thanks." I buried my face in the soft blanket to warm my nose. The blanket smelled of men's cologne and the strong stench of petroleum, but I needed it so I didn't complain.

"Also, the gasoline!" Jin announced and I was so happy when the logs inside the pit were splashed with petrol and ignited by Yoongi's lighter. Flames sprung up into the air, hitting me with a heat I needed at that moment.

"Baegopayo." Taehyung whined. (I'm hungry)

"Go get food then." Yoongi sighed, giving up on trying to make his phone work so he decided on putting it away in his pocket and bringing his blanket over his head. I sat in between Jimin and Jungkook, since the heat from the fire was nicer near them.  I sighed as the heat from the fire thawed my cold fingers, making me feel again.

"Go fishing." Namjoon joked, nodding towards the black ocean.

"I would if I could see," Taehyung laid his head on his knees, giving up on the possibility of food. To be honest, if the sun was still out, I believed Taehyung would truly jump into the water and try to grab a fish with his bare hands. That's how wild and adventurous he is. "I'll just have to deal with compliments from you guys. So, come on, fill me up." He smiled.

"Go away." Yoongi said.

"Pabo." Jimin chimed in.

"Shut up." Hoseok chuckled.

"Now, I'm starving." Taehyung pouted. All the boys laughed at the pouting boy.

"Maybe in the morning we can go to a breakfast?" I suggested. Taehyung perked up and smiled over at me, giving me a cute thumbs up with his large, child grin.

"Best idea all day. Now I can wait and just dream of good food to make me full." Taehyung smiled with his eyes closed, probably imagining the food in front of him.

"This is definitely better than being in my room," I told them, earning smiles. "Not saying if I got the chance to be home and read a book I would refuse, but I like this."

"Well, we need to break that habit of yours, Park Ona," Taehyung pointed his finger at me. "I need you here with us. I need some girl time. These guys just don't understand me."

The guys and I laughed at him. Jungkook even threw a stick at him because Taehyung's comment was stupidly funny. "But I love my room."

"Well, I'll make you love me more. So be prepared." He winked at me.

"Yah!" Jimin threw a seashell at him, protective brother appearing once more.

"Jimin I'm already like family. Let's make it official!" Taehyung said, but that didn't go over well with Jimin as he rushed towards Taehyung who immediately took off across the dark sand, flinging up the grains behind him as Jimin followed.

"Does he take anything serious?" I asked the rest as the two were still play fighting, their laughs echoing across the beach.

"There are some things he can be serious about, but it's rare." Namjoon shrugged as he laid back against the sand and closed his eyes.

I sighed, listening to the playful laughter coming from the two far away. Jungkook decided to lay his head in my lap, already falling asleep and letting small, quick breaths out. I smiled down at my dongsaeng and ruffled his hair, the soft locks slipping through easily.

"Get away." I heard Taehyung laugh. I watched as he pushed Jimin away, smiling and breathing heavily from the work out of keeping my brother off him.

"Don't come near my sister." Jimin smirked, sitting next to me, patting my shoulder.

"Don't worry," Taehyung chuckled. He smiled at me as he raised his hands to the flames, rubbing his palms together to keep them warm. "I won't do anything."
