August 10th, 2017

It was finally here.

Kevin and Angela were going to exchange their vows and get hitched that night.

Dylan and I were invited to the ceremony, but now we are a couple.

It doesn't feel like we are a couple.

All that was different was we now know we liked each other and have kisses here and there.

Oh, and that I told Dylan that I loved him.

But he doesn't feel the same way,

yet.

I'm not upset with him about it.

I get it, his relationship with his last girlfriend ended badly and his emotions are all out of wack.

...I'll get over it.

"Sam," she looked up from her journal to her boyfriend standing above her, "Ready to go?"

The young woman replied while forming a forced smile on her face, "Yep."

...

"...We have gathered together on this lovely afternoon to celebrate the union of Kevin Burns and Angela Robinson..."

The guests in the pews watched as the minister spoke on the stage, Angela and Kevin standing across from one another, locking their hands together.

All eyes were glued to the scenery of the gorgeous bride and the awestruck-but emotional groom.

It was a beautiful picture.

Dylan and Sam sat in the third row on the groom side, next to Kevin's cousins and in-laws.

A newborn was whimpering beside them, but they paid no mind to it.

They were happy to be there to support their friend on the best day of his life.

Dylan had interlocked his hand with Sam's, his grasp soft and comforting.

Samantha looked up at him staring at the interactions at the alter.

He wore a strapping black suit, as well as his hair gelled and his face shaven.

But above that, he seemed happy.

She could see it in his eyes.

The girl didn't correspond those same feelings.

Her eyes fell back on the couple as Kevin spoke his vows;

"'You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams'; written by Dr. Seuss. That's how I feel everyday knowing that I get to call you mine. Now as the time comes close to becoming yours forever," he stopped as a tear fell down his cheek, "'I can't wait to see where life takes us."

Sam heard Kevin's words and knew he loved Angela.

There was pure emotion in what he said that could never be replicated.

Dylan doesn't love me like that.

She was shocked as that thought popped into her head, but it was right.

Dylan's heart isn't whole enough for her.

Sam loved him, but he didn't.

She wanted what Kevin and Angela had.

She wanted what her mom and dad had.

I want him to love me..I want him to have joy thinking about me...I want him to cry at the idea of ever marrying me...Why would we get married? He doesn't love me.

"And now, you may kiss your bride."

Kevin leaned into his love and the guests all stood and clapped for the newly weds.

Dylan gave a "woo" and looked over at Sam with a smile...which fell immediately.

"Sam, are you okay?"

She was crying as she clapped.

She tried keeping it in.

"Y-Yeah, I'm just really happy for them."

He believed her.

"Oh yeah, I am too!"

He wrapped his arm around her into a hug.

Sam fooled him.

Everyone cried at weddings.

But she cried because she knew she'd never have what they had.
