July 10th, 2017
Dylan stood at the counter of McDonalds.
He hadn't spoken to a single person in there.
Sam was supposed to be at work a half hour ago but she still hadn't shown up.
The young man was a little worried about her.
Where could she be?
She's usually punctual or just a few minutes late.
He pressed his lips together.
His foot fidgeted under the counter.
Kevin had off that day so there wasn't really anyone to talk to.
Just silence with the sounds of mumbling in the kitchen and customers ordering from the drive thru.
Where is she?
The door squeaked open in the back.
"Hi, sorry I'm late!"
Sam.
Dylan perked his head up and turned around to see her, "Hey, look whos the tardy pickle today."
She came over to him and hit him playfully, "Don't remind me.. I'm usually so punctual to get my dinero."
"I know, what happened?"
"I woke up late and Ben was nearby so he offered to give me a ride," she laughed, "and then we stopped for coffee and well here I am-."
"Wait, Ben?"
Sam looked at him.
He looked conflicted.
"Yeah...what's wrong with that?"
Dylan looked down...
Dylan heard muffling inside Jasmine's bedroom at her house that night May 23rd, 2016. He stormed in and he was terrified of the scene.
There was Jasmine, his girlfriend, making out with a random dude he didn't know on her bed.
"Jasmine!"
She twisted her body towards him, startled as the half clothed man next to her just rubbed his face tiredly.
"Dylan-,"
"What the fu€k?!"
"It's not what it looks like."
"Not what it looks like?! You're fu€king making out with another dude," Dylan pushed the other guy over off the bed.
"Cole!"
Cole sat up, "Yo, just chill out man."
"Chill out?! You son of a bi—," Dylan kicked the guy on the floor.
Jasmine kneeled on the bed, "Would you stop it?!"
Dylan was about to throw a punch when the heftier man pulled his leg down, and punched him in the face.
"Stop!"
Cole stood up and watched Dylan holding his face in pain, "Don't pick a fight you know you'll lose."
Jasmine had an exasperated look on her face, "Just leave, Dylan."
Dylan groaned, standing on his feet, "What?!"
"Leave. We're done."
"You're the one who cheated on me!!"
"Bye."
"Fu€k you, bit€h!"
Dylan, in mad fury, slammed the bedroom door, practically taking off the hinges, and ran out the house.
He went to his car and started to drive.
He didn't know where he was going, he just drove.
Until five minutes, he pulled off to the side of the rode by a bunch of trees.
He paced back and forth, murmuring angrily to himself.
"AGH!" He kicked a tree next to him, causing a sheer amount of pain to course through his foot.
He moaned and held his ankle, "D@mn it...d@mn it."
Dylan sank to his knees.
He felt a tear slip down his cheek.
"D@mn it."
He began to sob....
Dylan came out of his flashback, feeling those emotions bubble up inside him.
His fear of losing Jasmine was now a fear of losing Sam.
He had to control himself.
He tried staying calm, "I mean, why didn't you ask me to take you to work?"
"Because you live 15 minutes away from me."
"So?"
"I didn't want to give you trouble-,"
"Why would I have a problem with that?"
He felt himself grow tense.
Sam was confused by this, she stumbled, "I..I don't know-,"
"You feel more comfortable with Ben than me, is that it?"
"...I-,"
"Is it?!" Dylan's hands were shaking so he pulled them into fists beside his body.
Sam was startled.
Then mad.
She slowly put her hands on her hips, "Ben has been my friend since college and he's just visiting for the month from Texas."
Dylan toned himself down. He pushed too far.
She's not my girlfriend...she's not my girlfriend.
"Agh, Sam I-,"
"Like what the h£ll, Dylan!"
"I know, I'm sorry."
"You came and attacked me for no fu€king reason!"
A shadow came over them.
"Is there a problem here, you two?"
It was Dave.
Dylan looked over at Sam, whom just stared at her cousin.
She stated dryly, "No, there's no problem."
He eyed her queerly, "Alright then. Get back to work and no more shouting."
"Got it," she said, tilting down at the cash register and opening up the tray to count money.
The young man continued to stare at her, but she never looked up.
Dylan bit his lip.
He messed up.
