Nik's POV

I didn't pressure any relationship with Amy. I'd see her uncomfortable looks when Kevin did that. I wouldn't move fast if she didn't want to.

We made it the whole day like this, although dirty looks from several people may be why she acted like this. I noticed that Lydia, Leticia, and Candace watched from a distance whenever I talked to Amy. I didn't see their look when I gave her a final hug and nonchalantly kissed her head before departing from her though.

"Question: you and Amy?" Emmett asked on the way to Athletics.

"Damn. I thought I kept it subtle," I groaned. He shrugged.

"I see the way you look at her and I know how you feel," he reasoned. We reached the locker room and departed since our variety of sports split our lockers up. I looked over at Kevin, who was glaring at me. He stayed in the locker room until it was just me and him.

"What do you want?" I spat.

"For Amy to be happy," he answered. I scoffed as I opened my locker. "Hear me out."

"Humor me," I said aloud.

"I've known her since grade school. I had a crush on her through middle school, but I got over it. Candace asked me to set her up and I don't know why I did," he said.

"Get to the point," I said, impatient.

"Just make her happy," he said.

"Why would you say that?"

"Her smile," he answered. "You may not see it, but every time you get done talking to her, she smiles. She really likes you."

"I hope so."

"Are you together?" he asked. At first I thought to say it's none of his business, but I said something different.

"Does it matter?" I asked, sighing out of no patience.

"Yeah, it does," he hissed. "Because I don't want you to treat her up and sh!t, make her feel special and part of your family and social class, and then completely dump her and leave her life disastrous."

I looked away, thinking of that. That wouldn't happen to Amy. It was impossible. I was an arrogant jerk, but I would never treat her like that.

"Don't accuse me of doing that," I ordered. "It'll never happen. I'll never break up with her."

Kevin started backing up.

"So you are together," he smirked with a twitch of his eyebrow. "Keep your word."

"Of course," I hissed.

Amy's POV

"You never told me about you and Emmett. You're missing for days and then you come back and you have the perfect Emmett awaiting you?" I told Kelly as we sat in the bleachers after school.

She sighed and looked to me with her plain eyes.

"I ran away because my brothers were being so damn pressuring and annoying. I meant to return home, but...something pulled me deeper and deeper into the woods. I ended up being exhausted and passing out and then I fell into asleep for a few days I guess," she explained. "Next thing I knew, I woke up with...with..."

"With what?" I asked, interested.

"Emmett beside me," she said, lovingly.

"Well I'm just glad you're back," I said, squeezing her into a hug.

"Speaking of being back, what's up with you and Candace's crew? And Kevin!" she said.

I explained everything, but left out Nik. It was only after explaining how Kevin used me, when she asked "What'd Nik do?"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Uh...nothing. Never mind," she lied.

"Tell me," I groaned. She knew with my tone, that I was serious.

"Emmett said that Nik is serious about you," she muttered.

"Meaning?"

"He really likes you. I think he loves you, but of course Emmett wouldn't ever tell me that," she ranted. "I just thought that with all this stuff going on, he'd do something about it...you two were close before Kevin even happened."

I sighed and decided to tell her the truth.

"He and Kevin got in a fight the same night that I and the twins did," I announced.

"Why?"

"I...I still don't know," I answered honestly. I hadn't really talked or associated myself with Nik other than today.

"It was probably out of good cause," she shrugged.

"Kelly," we heard. We looked down to see Emmett on the field, coming from the buildings. I looked to Kelly.

"Will you be good?" she asked.

"Yeah..." I droned as I walked her down the stairs. "Hey, Emmett."

"Hi," he said with a polite smile.

"Well we have a project to work on..." Kelly announced for the first time. I nodded even though I didn't believe it. They gave each other a look and departed together. I looked after them and noticed that a hundred yards down the field and out the fence, they reached for each other's hands. And then they were around the building's corner before I could see what else happened.

"May I have the honor in driving you home?" I heard a familiar voice ask as I sat on the lowest row of seats in the bleachers, reading my book. I looked up to see Nik's silhouette in the sun's light.

I stood up.

"I suppose."

On the walk to the parking lot, I was thinking about me and Nik—specifically what Kelly said.

"What is running in that pretty little head of yours?" Nik humored once in the car.

"Nothing," I lied. I shifted positions and turned to face him. "Why'd you start that fight with Kevin?"

"Which one?" he asked. I cocked an eyebrow. There was more than one? "But I'm guessing you're talking about the other night that got us arrested...We fought because he hit you and set you up."

"So what?"

"I don't want that for you. I don't want you hurt in any way—especially by him," he said, dimples concaving at each word. "You didn't deserve it."

I reached over and kissed his cheek. He was a sweetheart and I was falling for him more than ever. He placed his hand over mine that was on the arm rest and then he turned so that our faces were now inches apart. I wanted to kiss him, but he didn't return the interest because he closed his eyes and sighed, sitting back.

"I'm sorry," he apologized.

"Don't be," I muttered, nervously.

"Mmm..." he hummed.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Anything," he allowed.

"What exactly are...we?" I asked.

"'We'?" he asked.

"You and me," I clarified. He grabbed my hand and now laced our fingers.

"That's your call," he sighed, looking over with beautiful eyes.

"But is it possible anyways?" I asked. He was a royal and I was...me, an undefined class. But of course, it was lower than royalty.

"Is what possible?" he asked confused.

"You're a prince..." I reminded. He started laughing and hid his face with his hand. I raised an eyebrow.

"Why would that matter?" he laughed. I scoffed.

"Are you kidding? The kingdom doesn't want royals and peasants eloping," I said.

"Eloping?" he asked. He looked at me. "Like marriage...?"

"I meant...be together! I swear! Honest!" I defended, embarrassed. He was looking at me with a slight smile and no accusation. As if he...wouldn't mind if I meant marriage. "Either way, would it work?"

"You and me?" he asked. I meant the class variation, but I never thought of what he asked. I bit my lip and eventually nodded. "I'm willing to make it work if you are."

I squeezed his hand, knowingly, and then it took a kiss of my hand and a smile to spark a flaming romance.
