Chapter Nine: Adam and Jimmy
I was sat out by a lake, on a peninsula, staring at the sky colored lake.
"Sittin' in the mornin' sun. I'll be sittin' when the evenin' comes. Watching the ships roll in, and then I'll watch 'em roll away again," I sang lightly. "I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay, watching the tide roll away. Oh, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time." I sang.
"Henry!" I heard Dean. I stood up, knowing this peaceful morning wouldn't last. I ran up the hill to Dean and Sam.
"Yeah?" I asked. I was up driving most of the night. I'd parked just a little over an hour ago and walked down to the lake.
"We got a call," Sam said. "On dad's phone."
~
We met this kid, Adam, at a place in Minnesota.
"Dean, look, best I can tell, Adam Milligan is real. Um, born September 29, 1990, to Kate Milligan. No father listed on the birth certificate. He's an eagle scout, graduated from high school with honors, and currently goes to the University of Wisconsin. Biology major, pre-med," Sam said as I got out of the car and watched him talk and Dean dig through the trunk. This whole thing had Dean pissed. I glanced at Sam sadly. "Dean, you listening?" Sam asked.
"This is a trap." he said and shut the trunk. I rolled my eyes and walked after him.
"Like none of us have never slept with someone on a case." I said, looking at Sam.
"Really? Have you? Because, last I checked, you've never even had a crush until Cass." Dean said.
"Hey! That's not true. Taylor Lautner was my crush when I was about, what? Ten." I said.
"Shark boy?" he asked and I nodded.
"And I do not have a crush on Cass." I said and he scoffed.
"The way you look at him-"
"Guys!" Sam yelled and we both looked at him. "Let's just go meet the kid."
We walked into the small restaurant we said we'd meet him at, or that the boys said we'd meet him at. The bell dinged, Dean pulled a chair to the other side of the table, I sat in it while they sat in the ones that were already there.
"Dean, I'm telling you, the kid checks out." Sam said.
"Great, so he's an actual person on the planet Earth. Sucks he's got a demon in him." Dean said and I--once again--rolled my eyes at him.
"Hi. Welcome to Cousin Oliver's. Can I-"
"We're actually waiting on somebody." Dean interrupted her and I stomped on his foot and smiled sweetly at the waitress as she threw our menus down.
"Thank you." Sam and I thanked her as she quickly walked away. I glared at Dean. Partially because he's an idiot and partially because he was just rude to the person that gives us food. If she doesn't spit in his, I will. I watched him pour out some water in a plant and fill the cup with holy water.
"Holy water?" Sam asked.
"Really?" I added.
"Yep, one sip of Jesus juice, this evil bitch is gonna be in a world of hurt." Dean said, setting the cup down on his side.
"And what if he's not possessed?" Sam asked.
"Then he is a shapeshifter." Dean said, switching his silverware with actual silver.
"Hence the silver." Sam said.
"Look, either way, this thing is gonna bleed. I mean, using dad as bait? That's the last mistake of it's short, pitiful life."
"And if it's neither and is just a normal human being who happens to be dad's son too? Well, hey! I have three brothers." I said, groaning and leaning my head back on the chair.
"Listen, there's an entry in dad's journal from January of 1990. Saying he's headed to Minnesota to check out a case. That's roughly, oh, about nine months before the kid was born." Sam said.
"Coincidence." Dean said and I groaned.
"Coincidence? Next two pages of the journal, torn out." Sam said.
"You two aren't actually buying this, are you?" Dean asked.
"Look man, I don't want to believe it, either. I'm just saying, it's possible. I mean, dad would be gone for weeks at a time, and he wasn't exactly a monk. I mean, a hunter rolls into town, uh, kills a monster, saves the girl... Sometimes the girl's grateful." Sam said and I stuck out my tongue, grimacing.
"Well, now I'm thinking about dad sex. Stop talking." Dean said and I couldn't agree more.
"Maybe he slipped one past the goalie."
"Shut up. Shut up. Shuttity up, up, up." I said. The bell jingled and I looked over to see a blonde boy. He looked oddly familiar and when I recognized him, my eyes went wide.
"Adam?" Sam asked. I stared at him, terrified. He was in my dream, it was a vision. But what I had to figure out, did it already happen or was it still to come?
~
Already happened. It had already happened. Adam, the real Adam was dead. Me and Sam got jumped by the fake one and his mom, or the fake one of his mom. At first, when we found out that Adam was actually our brother, both me and Dean were pissed, but knowing that it wasn't actually Adam, I was almost relieved. But afterward, I felt terrible.
But now, a couple weeks have passed.
I woke up from... I wasn't sure what, everything was bright, I was in the wild. I stood up and turned around, seeing Dean sitting in a chair. I laughed; he was the one that was sittin' on the dock of the bay now. As I walked forward I noticed the box he had next to him before the fishing pole.
"Since when do you fish?" I asked. He still stared out to the lake as I sat down, my legs dangling over the water. It was nothing but silence for at least a minute, before the flap of wings was heard.
"We need to talk." I heard Castiel and looked up at him.
"I'm dreaming, aren't I?" Dean said.
"Why would I be in it?" I asked.
"It's not safe here. Someplace more private." Castiel said.
"More private? We're inside my head." Dean said and I stood up. He was ignoring me. I waved a hand in front of his eyes but he still saw nothing. I looked up to Cass, he exchanged my glance before looking back at Dean.
"Exactly. Someone could be listening." he said, looking back to me, to which I threw my hands up.
"Cass, what's wrong?" Dean asked. Cass pulled something out of his trench coats pocket.
"How big are your pockets dude?" I asked.
"Meet me here. Go, now." he said, knowing he'd disappear, I snapped my fingers in front of his face so he's look at me.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Be careful." he told me and disappeared as everything went black.
~
I gasped awake, hearing Dean breathing heavily beside me.
"How is it, that I'm always in your dreams. For once, just once, I'd like to be in Sam's dreams." I said, sitting up and turning on a light so we could go. Since we always slept in our clothes anyway, all I had to do was pull on my boots to go with my black skinny jeans and red flannel.
Once we got to the place that Dean swore was the place Cass told him to be, I looked high and low for him. I was ahead of both the boys.
"Cass!" I whisper yelled. I saw Dean beside me and sighed.
"Oh, just admit it." he said. I looked up at him.
"Admit what?" I asked.
"That you're in love with the angel." he said and I elbowed him.
"No, but if he gets hurt, I'm gonna feel it so I'd rather him not get hurt." I lied. I didn't love him, but he was nicer than all the other angels I'd met. I sped up my pace so Dean wouldn't bother me anymore, before we went up a flight of stairs. There were a lot of electricity cracks.
"The hell?" Dean asked.
"Looks like a bomb went off." Sam said and I rolled my eyes.
"No shit, Sherlock." I said as we continued walking through, looking at the huge pile of rubble.
"There was a fight here." Dean said.
"Must I say it again? No shit, Sherlock." I said.
"Between who?" Sam continued, glaring at me. Dean turned around, shining his flashlight on something.
"Check it out," he said and when I turned around I saw a giant symbol painted on the wall with blood. "Look familiar?"
"Yeah, it does." Sam said. My jaw was dropped and I stared at the huge mark. Everything stopped, whatever the boys were saying was blocked out and everything went white before an image of Castiel and some other guys appeared in my head. I groaned and when it all faded back.
"Cass was here, but..." I trailed off, looking around and walking to the place I saw him. "He's not here now." I said. I turned and saw Cass laying on a pile of rubble. "Or he is?" I questioned myself. I ran to the limp angel. It was strange, I could usually sense his presence like I had at the motel, but I couldn't right now.
"Cass." Dean said.
"Cass!" I said, slightly louder, helping Dean pull him up. He gasped awake.
"What's-What's going on?" he asked, not in his usual deep, gruff voice. More lights sparked as I helped him up.
"Just take it easy. Take it easy." Dean said.
"Oh. Oh."
"Cass, you okay?" Sam asked, but I could tell. That was no longer Cass. Something was very different--very wrong.
"Castiel?" he asked after standing up. "I'm not Castiel. It's me."
"Who is 'me' exactly?" I asked, a lot calmer on the outside than I was on the inside.
"Jimmy. My name's Jimmy." he answered and I sighed, turning around and gripping at my hair before calming down and turning back to Jimmy.
"Where the hell is Castiel?" Dean asked. Jimmy started shaking his head.
"He's gone." he said. I sighed and continued to pull at my hair.
"The dick can't just-" I said but stopped myself and ran down the stairs and leaned against the impala, breathing heavily.
"Hey, hey, hey!" I heard Dean. I took deep breaths. It was like Cass was worrying me but I wasn't all too sure why I was this worried. It seemed some days I didn't care and others I cared too much. I opened the door to the back seat and turned.
"Get in." I said to Jimmy, my voice stern. He nodded and got in, me next to him and Sam and Dean in the front. We drove to the motel in silence, all except Jimmy demanding us to get food, well, more like asking. When we got there, he took off the trench coat and dug into the food. The boys sat down in front of him, but I stayed leaned against a wall, watching in silence.
"Mind slowing down? You're gonna give me angina." Dean said. Jimmy shrugged.
"I'm hungry." he defended himself.
"When's the last time you ate?" Sam asked.
"I don't know, months." he said, eating more, moaning while doing so, and grossing me out.
"Would you mind explaining what the actual hell happened back there?" I asked.
"It looked like an angel battle royal." Sam said.
"All I remember is there was a flash of light, and I, uh... I-I woke up, and I was just, you know, like, me again." he said.
"So, what? Cass just ditched out of your meat suit?" Dean asked.
"I really don't know." he said.
"You remember anything happening in those months?" I asked.
"Yeah, bits and pieces. I mean, angel inside of you, it's kind of like being chained to a comet." he answered and I felt my heartbeat quicken. Did he remember the incident in the hospital?
"Well, that doesn't sound like much fun." Dean brought me out of my thoughts.
"Understatement." Jimmy corrected.
"Cass said he wanted to tell us something. Please tell me you remember that." Sam said and I perked up, that is, until he started shaking his head.
"Sorry." he said.
"What do you know?" I asked, pushing myself away from the wall and walking over to him. He stopped eating.
"My name is Jimmy Novak. I'm from Pontiac, Illinois. And I have a family." he said. I sighed and grabbed the boys, pulling them outside. We stood at the Impala.
"What are we supposed to do?" I asked.
"What do you mean? The guy's got a family. We buy him a bus ticket, send him home." Dean said and I rolled my eyes with a sigh.
"I don't know about that." Sam said.
"He's the only lead we have." I said.
"He doesn't know anything." Dean said.
"Are you a hundred percent about that?" Sam said.
"You think he's lying? What, you wanna go Guantánamo on the guy?" Dean asked, looking at us both with disbelief.
"No, I just think that maybe he doesn't even know what he knows." I said.
"Huh?" Dean asked.
"I say at least we get him to Bobby's," Sam said.
"M-Maybe all he needs is a psychic or hypnosis, something. Maybe Cass will just get back into him." I said. I was almost hoping that he would, although I felt bad for the guy since he had a family.
"I don't know, guys." Dean sighed.
"Dean, back there, that was angel-on-angel violence. Now I don't know what's going on, but it's big. And we can't just let the only lead we've got just skip out," Sam argued. Dean started shaking his head. "What?"
"Remember when our job was helping people? Like getting them back to their family?" Dean asked.
"And we will! Maybe, if it turns out that he actually doesn't know anything." I said quickly.
"You think we don't want to help him? We're just being realistic. I mean, hell, we're doing him a favor." Sam said.
"How?!" Dean asked.
"Dean, we want to question him, best guess is demons do too. We let him back to his family and they'll be dead within a week." I said. He groaned.
"Fine. Let's go" He said and we walked inside. I would have smiled at him, but right now I was incapable of even a fake one.
"Jimmy, you can't go home." I said and all three of them looked at me. I was normally the one to sugarcoat everything, but right now I just was pissed and confused.
"The hell are you talking about, I can't go home?" he asked and I leaned against the door, just incase he tried to make a break for it.
"There's a good chance you have a bullseye on your back." Dean explained.
"What? From who?" he asked. I looked to the boys before answering for them.
"Demons." I said.
"Oh, come on. That's crazy. What do they want with me?" he asked.
"Oh I don't know, information maybe. I mean you've had an angel in you, for what? A year?" I said extremely sarcastically.
"I don't know anything!" he said, annoyance in every word.
"Well, boo hoo! They're demons and they won't believe you, so screw you," I said, both the boys looked back to me and I sighed. "Sorry." I apologized, looking at the floor.
"Look, I'm done, okay? With demons, angels, all of it. I just want to go home." he said, walking towards Dean.
"We understand." Dean said.
"No, I don't think you do understand. I've been shot and stabbed and healed, and my body's been dragged all over the Earth. By some miracle, I'm out, and I am done. I've given enough, okay?" he said and I looked out, anger rushing to my mouth before my head.
"Oh yeah, I mean, because you haven't been possessed by an angel who knows all the seals and how to get Lucifer out of hell, not to mention the power you had and the demons you killed. I'm sorry, but you are never out, and you are never done." I said.
"Henry," Dean said and I looked to him. "Shut up!" he yelled at me, without even looking at me. I groaned and opened the door, walking out with it slamming behind me. I leaned against the wall, sliding down it as I pulled at my hair. I wanted to think about how horrible he had it, but I couldn't. The only thing that went through my mind was 'Is Cass okay?'. After a while of heavy breathing and hair gripping, I stood back up. I let out a heavy breath and walked to the Impala, opening the trunk and grabbing a beer. I downed it in maybe a minute before walking to some trees and throwing the bottle. The only sound was the sound of the glass breaking at the contact of whatever it hit. I sighed and walked back to the room. When I opened the door Jimmy stood up and backed up.
"Rhett." Sam said and him and Dean stood up. They walked forward.
"Please, just leave me alone." I said in a whisper.
"Have you been crying?" Dean asked. I put a finger to my cheek and felt something wet. Huh, I hadn't realized that.
"Well, I suppose I have," I said. "Can you two leave for a minute. If I do something you'll hear his scream," I said before pushing them out of the way. I walked toward Jimmy, who backed up. "Oh lighten up, you baby. I'm not going to hurt you." I said. He loosened up and stopped backing away as I heard the boys leave.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"Well, if you ever tell the boys this, I'll kill you, but I came to apologize. Now don't think I'm going soft or anything, but Cass means a lot to me and well, you're pathetic." I said.
"Thanks." he said sarcastically.
"But... I understand that you want to get back to your family. Trust me, I wish I could too, and I really want you to, but we just think it's be better to stay here so you don't put them in danger." I said and he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, I've already heard this from your brother." he said.
"Okay, listen. I'm trying to apologize, something that I seriously don't want to do, but I know morals and manners. Unlike you, clearly." I said and he stared at me.
"Excuse me?" he asked.
"What? You just came in here and started devouring, like, everything, looking like a pig, and not to mention the rudeness." I said.
"You aren't letting me see my family. Of course I'm going to be rude." he said and I glared at him.
"Good god, why'd Cass have to choose such a dick vessel." I said and turned around.
"What did you just say-"
"Can you just shut up?!" I asked, looking back to him. "I miss Cass, and I do not want to put up with your bullshit. I tried to say sorry." I said, walking to the door. When I walked out the boys looked at me.
"What happ-"
"Shut your trap," I said, cutting Sam off. "I'm sleeping in the impala." I said, walking to the impala. I opened the door and laid in the back seat, closing it and staring at the roof. After a minute there was a knock on the window. I looked up to see Sam with puppy dog eyes. I opened the door to see him.
"He wants to apologize." he said and I groaned, I started to shut the door but he stopped it and grabbed me. He picked me up, easily, and carried me to the room. He set me down in front of Jimmy and I groaned, throwing myself onto the bed I knew was Deans.
"This mood?" I heard Dean asked.
"This mood." Sam confirmed.
"How long?" Dean.
"Soon." Sam answered. I heard Jimmy clear his throat.
"Might want to just sit down for a minute." I heard Dean and I sat up, grabbing a pillow and shoving it in my face, screaming out profanities before throwing it down. I plopped back down and stared at the ceiling with a sigh. I let it out.
"I'm sorry." I heard him. I sighed.
"Just go to sleep or something." I said and closed my eyes, ready for sleep. I knew Sam and Dean wouldn't dare disturb me after that, I mean, I only do those about once every three months. After a while, I fell asleep, well, until I heard the door close.
My eyes opened and I looked around. The room was now dark and quiet, and as I scanned it I saw Jimmy in a bed, so he wasn't escaping. It must have been one of the boys. I closed my eyes again until I heard rustling. When I opened my eyes again I saw Jimmy getting up. He looked in my direction and I quickly shut my eyes again. I opened them to see him looking toward the door and walking over to it and I stood up. When he put his hand on the door knob I spoke up.
"Going somewhere?" I asked and he froze. He turned around and looked back at the bed, when I looked-for a split second- I saw Dean laying there, still asleep.
"Please, I-I just want to get to my family-"
"I know. And I'm sorry." I said, taking a few steps toward him. He stared down at me before sighing.
"Well, then, I'm sorry too." He said before putting his hand on my shoulder and pressing hard. I became limp as he caught me and put me on the bed. I was unable to move but I could still see. After setting me down he walked outside, not before grabbing his trench coat.
Son of a bitch.
After about ten minutes Sam walked in and when he noticed the bed empty, he looked to me and Dean. I was staring at him, and I think he thought I might've been dead because he ran over to me. My body was now more tingly than numb, but it was still hard to move.
"Rhett?" he asked and I opened my mouth.
"He's gone." was all I said. Sam sighed in relief and stood up, laying me back down. He ran to Deans side and started shaking him awake.
"What?" Dean asked, pushing Sam's hands away.
"Jimmy's gone." Sam said and Dean shot up.
"What?" he repeated.
"I-I-I don't know, he's just gone," he said. "And he paralyzed Rhett."
"Well at least someone was paying attention to him." Dean grumbled, standing up.
They'd began packing and I'd finally managed to sit up.
"Dean! Would you hurry up?" Sam yelled, packing the duffle bag. Dean walked in, a toothbrush in his mouth, and chuckled. Sam, now annoyed, stopped packing and looked to Dean. "Sorry, uh, this is funny to you?"
"Mr. Big bad prison guard, and Jimmy McMook gives you the slip? Yeah, it's pretty funny. What were you doing anyway?" Dean asked and I stood up stiffly. I swear I'm going to beat that little bastard to a pulp when we find him, see how he likes being paralyzed.
"I was getting a coke." Sam answered and I watched him. I stood there, still extremely stiff and not exactly able to walk easily.
"Was it a refreshing coke?" Dean asked.
"Can we just go, please?" Sam asked and Dean turned away. I tried to take a step toward him.
"Falling." I said as I fell into him. He caught me and sat me back down. He smiled, almost laughing as he walked to another room and I flopped down onto the bed with a sigh.
The car ride was silent until I heard something beside me. I turned to see Anna sitting there and jumped slightly.
"Hey guys." She said and Dean jumped.
"Ho! Geez! " he yelled as the car swerved and my hand went to the 'oh shit' handle.
"Smooth." Anna said.
"You ever try calling ahead?" Dean asked.
"I like the element of surprise." she answered. I groaned and leaned my head against the window, looking out it and to the road.
"You look terrific."
"Um, yeah. Not the most appropriate time, Dean," she said, making me smile. "You let Jimmy get away?" she asked.
"Talk to ginormo and shorty here." he said and Anna looked at me. I held up my hands in defense.
"I caught him and got paralyzed, Sam didn't even see him leave, blame him." I said and Sam gave me his common bitch-face. She looked to him.
"Sam... You seem... different." she said and I looked at him. I'd vaguely sensed something off about him, but I guess she could tell easier.
"Me?" Sam shrugged. "I don't know. Haircut?" he said and I rolled my eyes. I feel like the last haircut he got was a year ago.
"That's not what I'm talking about," she said and he turned around. I watched him, suspicious from the vision I'd seen not too long ago. "So, what'd Jimmy tell you? He remember anything?"
"Why? What's going on?" Dean asked and my ears perked up.
"It's Cass. He got sent back home. Well, more like dragged back." she explained.
"To heaven?" I asked.
"That's not a good thing?" Dean asked.
"No, that's a very bad thing. Painfully, awfully bad." she said and I looked to her.
"Why can't I feel it? Is he okay?" I asked and she looked at me.
"What?" Dean asked, but I ignored him.
"Because he's in heaven, off the earth. You can only feel it if he's in the same world as you," she explained before looking back to the two, now confused, boys. "He must have seriously pissed someone off." she said.
"Cass said he had something to tell me. Something important." Dean said. I was there too! Although, I haven't exactly told him what all I heard.
"What?" she asked.
"I don't know." he answered.
"Does Jimmy know?" she asked.
"I don't think so." Dean answered.
"You don't think so? Whatever it is, it's huge. You got to find out for sure." she said and I rolled my eyes. I'm getting real tired of Anna's shit, I honestly liked her better as a human.
"That's why we're going after Jimmy." Sam said.
"That's why you shouldn't have let him go in the first place. He's probably dead already."
~
We stopped to get gas and snacks and I leaned against the back of the car with Dean, looking in the night sky.
"Do you think he's okay?" I asked.
"Cass? Probably, he's strong." Dean said and I looked at him.
"No, Sam," I corrected, looking at him pacing in the small store on the phone. "Something's wrong with him, Dean. I know it."
~
We got to Jimmy's house and through the window I could see two demons. I got out and ran to the door, opening it and running in. Dean threw the knife to me and I caught it by the handle, running to the guy demon and slicing his throat, then running to the chick before she stopped. I looked behind me and saw Sam holding out his hand. I knew something was off with him.
"Go! Get them out of here!" Sam told us and Jimmy, strained. I ran toward Jimmy while Dean yelled for them to go and I threw the knife to Dean, following the family. After a minute a black smoke came from the house and I ignored it. I looked at Jimmy and realized there was only two people there.
"Thank God." he said.
"Where's your wife?" I heard Dean. I realized that since she wasn't here the demon could've possibly gotten into her.
"Right here." I heard another female voice and saw a woman run up with Jimmy's trench coat.
"Let's go!" Dean said and I got in the car, in the front this time, between Sam and Dean. The family got in the back and I let out a sigh of relief as Dean pressed on the gas. I turned toward Jimmy and glared.
"Next time we say if you go to your family you're putting them in danger, don't go to your family." I said with a stressful sigh.
We got to a garage and got out. I grabbed a pack of cigarettes and took one out before Sam stole the pack and threw it behind him. He didn't like it that I smoked sometimes, but it was only a few a month. I lit the cigarette I took and put it in my mouth. Sam took the cigarette and threw it on the ground, stomping on it. I rolled my eyes and looked at Jimmy.
"You were right." he said, looking from his family to me then Dean.
"Sorry we were." Dean said.
"But I'm telling you, I don't know anything." I snuck behind Sam and picked up the pack he threw.
"I don't think they're inclined to believe you." Dean said as I took out another cigarette.
"And even if they did, you're a vessel. They're still gonna want to know what makes you tick." Sam said as I lit it and put it in between my lips, shoving the pack in my pocket.
"Which means vivisection... If they're feeling generous." Dean said.
"I'm gonna tell you one more time... You're putting your family in danger. You have to come with us. I'm sorry." I said through the cigarette and Sam looked at me. I glared at him and he rolled his eyes. Jimmy turned to his family.
"How long? And don't give me that 'cross that bridge when we get to it' crap." he said.
"Don't you get it?" Sam asked, annoyed. I grabbed his arm and gave him a warning look. I turned to Jimmy with a frown.
"Forever. The demons won't stop hunting you." I said slowly and sadly. I don't know what I'd do if I was in his position.
"You can never be with your family." Sam said.
"Sam!" I said but he ignored me.
"So, you either get as far away from them as possible or you put a bullet in your head, and that's how you keep your family safe, but there's no getting out and there's no going home." Sam said and I glared at him.
"Well, don't sugarcoat it, Sam." Dean said.
"I'm just telling him the truth, Dean. Someone has to."
"Sam, can I talk to you?" I asked and pulled him away. He glared at the cigarette in my mouth but walked with me.
"What?" he asked.
"What's wrong with you?" I asked, smacking him up top the head.
"Ow, what was that for?" he asked.
"You are not even being yourself. What happened to passionate Sam?" I asked.
"You're the most passionate one here, and you weren't even nice to him. You can't blame me." he said and I groaned. I took a puff of the cigarette before dropping it and stepping on it.
"I need a beer." I said, walking to the car. I saw Jimmy and Amelia hug and I smiled. Dean came up to me.
"Love... It makes me sick."
~
Sam got the family a car and we'd got back in the impala and on the road. Me and Jimmy in the back and the boys in the front, not sure why Sam always got shotgun since I was older, but I liked the back. I leaned my head on the window and stared into the dark sky as we drove. I plugged in my earbuds and started listening to My Chemical Romance while the boys talked. I hummed along until I got to the chorus and it took all the willpower in me not to scream it because there was a sleeping man next to me. Sam reached back, phone in hand and I took my earbuds out. He tapped Jimmy to wake him up.
"Hey, it's your wife." Sam said and my ears perked up as I looked to Jimmy. He took the phone and sat up.
"Amelia?" he said tiredly but by the way his eyes went wide after a second, I could tell something bad was going on. "Oh, my god." he said.
Basically, Dean turned the damn car around, I couldn't get any sleep because Jimmy said the demons were after his family still, We got to this really creepy place, and I got another cigarette because this whole day had been stressful. I put it out and we followed where Jimmy had gone about five minutes ago. Dean said he had a plan and I seriously hoped his plan was to get caught because that's what happened. Three demons brought us to where Jimmy and his family was.
"Nice plan, Dean." Sam said. We'd fought and were now extremely out of breath. I was breathing so heavily I couldn't even make a sarcastic remark, so luckily Sam did that for me.
"Yeah, well, nobody bats a thousand." Dean said.
"Got the knife?" Amelia the demon walked up to Sam. The demon holding him held up Ruby's knife that they'd took. "And you know what's funny?" she asked.
"You wearing a soccer mom?" Dean asked.
"Is I was actually bummed to get this detail. Picking up an empty vessel? Sort of like a milk run. Now look who landed in my lap." she said and I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, well... You got us, okay? Let these people go." Sam said.
"Oh, Sam. It's easy to act chivalrous when your wonder girl powers aren't working, huh? Now for the punchline. Everybody dies," she said, holding up a gun and cocking it. She turned and instead of aiming it at Sam she aimed it at Jimmy. Before any of us could do anything she shot. I was stuck, shocked. "Waste little orphan Annie." she told the demons and I glared at her. I heard the heavy breaths of Jimmy and the demon holding me let go. I couldn't move unless I wanted to get killed, but I wanted more than anything to help Jimmy right now. The demon walked over to the girl and suddenly something felt different. It was like there was a strange other presence. The demon picked up a bat looking thing and began to swing it at the girl. She looked up, grabbed the bat, and put a palm to the guy's forehead. He started screaming and I realized what the strange presence was. I ran toward Jimmy as my brothers started fighting the demons that were holding them. I pushed his hand over the wound as I began to take off his belt to wrap it around it. The little girl version of Cass stood up and I looked to her/him as I tried to help Jimmy. Jimmy stared too.
"Castiel." he said through uneven breaths as I wrapped the belt around him, removing his hand. I stood up and looked to Dean and Cass, walking over to them. I saw Sam with blood around his mouth, demon blood. We all stared as he plunged the knife into the demons heart and stood up. He held out his hand, making me jump and move as he pulled Amelia to us. He exercised the demon inside her and she fell to the ground. I almost kneeled beside her, wanting to help her before realizing that her husband's blood was on my hands. I turned to Sam, he had a wicked grin on his face that made me shiver. When Dean stood up with Amelia we walked over to where Jimmy was. There Cass was, kneeling down beside him.
"I want to make sure you understand," chick Cass said. "You won't die... Or age. If this last year was painful for you, picture a hundred- a thousand more like it." she said. Jimmy grabbed her.
"Doesn't matter," he said. "You take me. Just take me." he whimpered.
"As you wish." she/he said and took his face in her/his hands. Light came from his eyes and mouth before the girl gasped and Jimmy's face went straight. Cass was now in him. He stood up, leaving the girl. He walked past Amelia as she walked to Claire, Jimmy's daughter who Cass had been possessing. He turned and watched and I slightly inched towards him unknowingly. He turned around and I watched.
"Cass, hold up," Dean said and he turned around, looking tired. "What were you gonna tell me?" Dean asked.
"I learned my lesson while I was away, Dean. I serve heaven. I don't serve man. And I certainly don't serve you." he said coldly, making a pain grow in my chest. In my heart. He turned and walked away, leaving me and my brothers standing there, taken back by his words.
Once he left I put on my best poker face and walked the opposite direction Cass had. When outside I punched a wall before walking to the impala. I got in and shortly after, so did the boys. My hand started stinging and I knew it was bleeding but I didn't do anything but stare out the window.
We drove in angry/annoyed silence until Sam decided to break it.
"All right. Let's hear it." he said.
"What?" Dean asked.
"Drop the bomb, guys. You saw what I did. Come on. Stop the car. Take a swing." he said.
"I'm not gonna take a swing." Dean said. I laid down on the seats and stared at the ceiling of the car
"Then scream. Chew me out."
"I'm not mad, Sam." Dean said. I am, but mainly for another reason, so I kept quiet.
"Oh, come on. You're not mad?" Sam asked. I zoned them out and put in earbuds, music drowning out the sounds of their voices.

We got to Bobby's and I wasn't aware of their idea until Sam walked in the panic room and Dean held me back. I looked up at him in confusion.
"So, uh, what's the big demon problem?" Sam asked and I was still staring at Dean in confusion but turned to Bobby.
"You are. This is for your own good." Bobby said before closing the door. I stared at them both, still confused.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked as they locked the door. Dean walked over to me.
"You do not let him out of there at all, okay?" Dean said and I nodded as he looked extremely serious. Dean and Bobby walked up the stairs and I walked to the door, not opening it, just staring. Listening. After it got too much I walked upstairs and laid down on the couch, listening to Sam's yells as I tried to sleep, being unsuccessful.

Also, Cass freaked me out the first time I watched this episode. Like good god, just wait... Seasons to come you'll be serving Dean a sandwich.
QOTD: What's the last thing you ate?
I have no idea what to ask so creepy question.
Thank you for reading.
