Chapter Eleven: Gone and Back Again

"I'm sorry." Sam said, his voice breaking. A bright white light emerged from the floor and we turned to look at it.

"Sammy, Henry, let's go." Dean said, grabbing me and Sam.

"Dean," Sam said, stopping, grabbing me and Dean. "He's coming."

~

Light emerged even brighter and Dean grabbed us both again, pulling us along.

"Come on." we started running to the doors. Right before we got to them the doors both shut.

"Dean!" Sam and I yelled as we crashed against the now closed doors. We tried desperately to open them, no use still. There was a loud ringing noise and I started hearing this booming voice laughing. I knew it was Lucifer's and I knew Sam nor Dean could hear it. We looked to each other before turning around. They grabbed their heads while I stared at the light, hearing the laughing increase as the voice spoke. It was difficult to understand, like it was going through ten different filters, but I heard the word, "Finally!" Through the laughter and mumbles. Then, everything went white.

When it returned back to normal we weren't in the same room. A looneytoons episode was playing and I looked around. We were on a plane, strange.

"What the hell?" Dean said, cutting me off from saying the same thing but slightly different.

"I don't know." Sam answered. The pilot came on as we all looked through the window. We were apparently passing over Ilchester.

"Ilchester? Weren't we just there?" Dean asked.

"So, if you'd like to stretch your legs, now would be a good time to- holy crap!" the pilot shouted as everything started shaking and the plane started going down. I grabbed onto my brothers and held on for dear life.

"Friggin' hate planes." I said. I felt Sam put an oxygen mask on my face and I placed my hand over it to keep it there. There was the high pitched screech again before the maniacal laughter started again. There was a bright light that seemed to consume the plane.

~

The boys had their heartfelt conversation like they do, while I laid in the back of the impala, staring at the ceiling. One sentence kept running through my mind. 'Is Cass okay?'.

We were walking around Chucks house, floorboards creaking. We all went our separate ways, I walked towards the stairs before something hit me in the face, making me turn and try not to fall onto the floor.

"Ow!" I yelled out but emotionless. I looked up to see Chuck standing there with a toilet plunger and grimaced. That just touched my face.

"Rhett! Sam!" Chuck said.

"Yeah, Rhett." I said, gesturing to myself as myself and not someone who needed to be hit with a plunger.

"Hey, Chuck," I heard Dean behind me as I rubbed my head where there was surprisingly less pain than there should've been since I got hit in the head with a friggin' plunger.

"So, you're okay?" he asked mainly Sam.

"My head hurts a bit." I said.

"No, I mean-I mean my-my last vision. You went, like, full-on Vader. Your body temperature was 150. Your heart rate was 200. Your eyes were black." Chuck told Sam.

"I just got hit, in the face, with a toilet plunger." I said, totally ignoring what he just said before it crossed my mind.

"Your eyes went black?" both me and Dean asked in unison.

"I didn't know." Sam said, turning to us.

"Where's Cass?" I asked, turning to Chuck, noticing Castiel was nowhere to be found. There was a short silence before Chuck answered.

"He's dead. Or gone. The archangel smote the crap out of him. I'm sorry." he said and my hopes dropped.

"No, no, that's not possible," I turned towards Dean and Sam before back to Chuck. "I would've felt it. Why didn't I feel it?" I asked, my voice getting louder by the word.

"Maybe he just vanished into the light or something." Dean said and I nodded.

"Oh, no. He, like, exploded. Like a water balloon of chunky soup." he walked forward and I felt my heart being almost torn apart.

"But he can't be dead." I said with a cracking voice. I felt Dean pull me into a hug and I let out silent sobs in his chest.

"You got a-" Sam said, pointing to his head and Chuck pulled something out of his hair.

"Is that a molar?" Chuck asked, holding it out. "Do I have a molar in my hair?" He asked, his voice breaking. "This has been a really stressful day." Chuck said, on the verge of tears.

"Cass, you stupid bastard." I heard Dean say under his breath but because I was hugging him I heard it.

"Stupid? He was trying to help us." Sam turned to us.

"It would help us if he didn't end up dead doing so!" I yelled and backed away from Dean.

"Okay, sorry," Sam said. "So what now?" he asked and I slumped over and walked away from my brothers.

"I don't know." Dean answered as I stood by Chuck. He looked out of it and I stared at him, hearing slight whispers.

"Oh, crap." he said.

"What?" I asked.

"I can feel them."

"Thought we'd find you here," we turned to the voice of Zachariah. He kicked something away. "Playtime's over, Dean. Time to come with us." he started taking steps toward us and I walked to the side of Dean.

"You just keep your distance, ass-hat." Dean said and I glared at Zachariah and all the angels behind him.

"You're upset."

"Yeah, a little. You sons of bitches jump started judgement day!" Dean yelled.

"Maybe we let it happen. We didn't start anything. Right Sammy?" he winked and I think I threw up in my mouth a little. "You had a chance to stop your brother, and you couldn't. So let's not quibble about who started what. Let's just say it was all our faults and move on. Cause like it or not," he looked down and picked up something before looking back to us. "It's apocalypse now. And we're back on the same team again." he said and I scoffed.

"We will never-" I started walking up to him but stopped when Dean put an arm in front of me to stop me.

"Is that so?" he asked almost sarcastically.

"You want to kill the devil. We want you to kill the devil. It's synergy." he said and I rolled my eyes.

"And I'm just supposed to trust you? Cram it with walnuts, ugly." Dean said and I smirked at Zachariah.

"This isn't a game, son. Lucifer is powerful in ways that defy description. We need to strike now, Hard and fast. Before he finds his vessel." Zachariah said.

"His vessel?" I asked.

"Lucifer needs a meat suit?" Sam asked in an almost amusement.

"He is an angel. Them's the rules," Zachariah chuckled, looking to the two angels behind him before back to us. "And when he touches down, we're talking four horsemen, red oceans, fiery skies, the greatest hits. You can stop him, Dean. But you need our help."

"You listen to me, you two- faced douche. After what you did, I don't want jack squat from you!" Dean yelled.

"You listen to me, boy!" Zachariah yelled, taking a few steps forward. "You think you can rebel against us? As Lucifer did," he chuckled. He looked at Deans hand. "You're bleeding."

"Oh yeah. A little insurance policy incase you dicks showed up." he said. I backed up and smirked at Zachariah as Dean pulled the door, covering me from Zachariah's view, as he hit the sigil. I became light headed and fell into Sam.

"Learned that from my friend Cass, you son of a bitch." Dean said before turning to us. Sam held me, trying to help me stand up as I held on desperately to his jacket as I steadied myself.

"This sucks ass." Chuck said and I looked at him.

"Tell me about it." I said.

"What was all that?" Dean asked, walking toward me.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I denied, looking away from him.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about. Maybe the fact that you 'feel what Cass feels' and when I hit that sigil you almost passed out." He said. I nodded.

"Oh, you're talking about that. Well, brother that I love so dearly-" I said before turning around and sprinting past Sam. They knew I was a fast sprinter, but they also knew I slowed down after the first five minutes of running so they followed me. I ran out of Chucks and down the street, taking random turns to get them off my tail, until I was utterly lost. I knew they wouldn't stop looking for me, but I also knew they knew the first place I'd go. I found my way back to the hotel we were currently staying at and on the way everything sunk in.

Cass is dead. Like actually truly dead.

I felt myself break down but I kept trudging through the streets. I knew that I'd have to face my brothers and I kept going over what I would say to them, but each time my thoughts wandered to Cass and I'd feel my heart break a bit more. I got to the room and took a deep breath before entering. Both my brothers turned to look at me and I looked down at my shoes.

"Rhett? Are you okay?" Dean and Sam came to me.

"I'm fine," I breathed out. "Wusses." I said, looking up to them with a small smile.

"Are you going to explain or are we going to have to wait, because right now, I can't take lies." Dean said.

"I wasn't lying, just not telling the whole truth," I said and he raised an eyebrow at me. "Okay, if you want to know what's happening I suggest you sit down. Then I'll tell you."

And I did. I told them everything, the soul mate, the half angel, the half demon. I told them that my emotions were heightened and I even had powers. I told them everything.

"Wait, so you're exactly what we kill?" Dean asked. I sadly nodded. Dean nodded and stood up, towering over me. He walked over to my short standing stature. I backed up slightly and he grabbed my wrists to keep me there. His deep green eyes stared into my light green ones. I stared, scared. He did something unexpected and pulled me into a tight hug. "It will never come to that, but next time, tell us sooner."

~

After our very heartfelt conversation, Sam and Dean decided it would be better if I laid down, cried, ate some ice cream. After I explained the whole soul mate thing they were afraid I was going to blow up like Cass. I was currently laying on a bed, pie in my hand, listening to the radio as it talked about all things apocalypse. Dean had been making snide remarks about what they thought the cause of all the events were. Then there was a knock on the door. I grabbed my gun and held it to me, staring at the door as Dean sat up and Sam walked to the door. He cocked the gun and put it to the door before opening it. There stood a blonde girl who gasped when seeing Sam.

"You okay, lady?" Sam asked.

"Sam... Is it really you?" she asked really creepy. She walked forward and put a hand to his chest. I stared in confusion but just kind of shrugged it off. "And you're so firm." she laughed.

"Er, Do I know you?" Sam asked. She stopped touching him and straightened herself slightly.

"No. But I know you. You're Sam Winchester. And you're..." she looked to me and Dean. "Not what I pictured," she looked back to Sam. "I'm Becky. I read all about you guys. And I've even written a few," she giggled. "Anyway, Mr. Edlund told me where you were."

"Chuck?" Dean asked and we both stood up, me putting my gun in my pocket. Becky turned to us.

"He's got a message, but he's being watched. Angels. Nice change-up to the mythology, by the way. The demon stuff was getting kind of old." she said and I rolled my eyes. Like we chose this.

"Right. Just, um, What's the message?" Sam asked while I glared at the woman who had so rudely barged into our hotel room.

"He had a vision. 'The Michael sword is on Earth. The angels lost it'." she quoted.

"The Michael sword?" Dean asked.

"Becky, does he know where it is?" Sam asked.

"In a castle, on a hill made of 42 dogs." she said.

"42 dogs?" I asked.

"Are you sure you got that right?" Sam asked.

"It doesn't make sense, but that's what he said. I memorized every word," she put her hand back on Sam's chest. "For you."

"Can you stop molesting my brother, please?" I said and pulled her back as Sam looked very awkward and uncomfortable.

"No." she said and just continued touching him. I rolled my eyes and gave Sam an apologetic look.

~

We called up Bobby and he was here in a few hours. When he got here we started talking about the sword of Michael. I started reading when Sam walked around.

"Kid? You alright?" Bobby asked. I looked up from my book and to them.

"No, actually. Bobby, this is all my fault. I'm sorry."

"Sam..." Dean cut in.

"Lilith did not break the final seal. Lilith was the final seal."

"Sam, stop it." Dean said and I shoved my face in my book, not wanting to be a part of this conversation.

"I killed her, and I set Lucifer free."

"You what?" Bobby said. I pulled the book away and looked at them.

"You guys warned me about Ruby, the demon blood, but I didn't listen. I brought this on."

"Hey, Sam, while you're at it, do you want to mention the part where I'm part demon?" I asked before shoving my nose back into my book watching them with only my eyes peeking out over the top. Bobby stood up and walked toward Sam, totally ignoring my sentence, which I wasn't sure whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.

"You're damn right you didn't listen. You were reckless, and selfish, and arrogant." Bobby said and I stood up, putting the book down.

"I'm sorry." Sam said. I walked to his side as Bobby took a few steps closer.

"Oh, yeah? You're sorry you started Armageddon? This kind of thing don't get forgiven, boy," I grabbed Sams arm but kept quiet. "If, by some miracle, we pull this off... I want you to lose my number. You understand me?" I stared in shock at his words. Sam nodded, his eyes were glossy and began to get red.

"There's an old church nearby. Maybe I'll go read some of the lore books there." he said.

"Yeah. You do that." Bobby hissed and Sam pulled out of my grip and walked out of the room. I frowned and looked down.

~

After maybe an hour of reading Bobby started talking again, but one sentence that pulled me out of my thoughts was "Your dad was right."

I looked up at him and Dean, knowing something was off. I stood up and watched Bobby as Dean got something out of his duffel bag. Dean showed us a slip of paper that dad had.

"Cristo," I whispered extremely quietly. I watched as Bobby flinch and turn to me, his eyes black. "Dean! Watch out!" I shouted but not in time before Dean was punched into the railing. As Bobby walked forward I jumped on the demon that was possessing him to give Dean extra time. It threw me off and to a wall so hard and fast that everything was a big blur. I watched with hazy vision as demon Bobby grabbed Dean by his shirt and made him stand before kicking him into a closet. I stood up and ran after him, getting pushed back into the wall. The demon proceeded to pull Dean out of the rubble and hold him up as some people entered. One guy grabbed me and pushed me to where Dean was, holding me still.

"I always knew you were a big, dumb, slow, dim pain in the ass, Dean. But I never dreamt you were so V.I.P," The girl said, walking over to the demon knife. She picked it up and turned back to us. "I mean, you're gonna ice the devil? You?" she laughed, walking back over to us. "If I'd have known that, I'd have ripped your pretty, pretty face off ages ago." she said and I figured out who she was. Meg. I glared at her and tried doing something. I thought of the church that Sam was talking about and closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes I saw Sam. He stared at me in confusion and shock.

"We need to go. Now," I said and ran out of the church. I ran down the street until I got to the hotel again. I opened the door to see Dean getting beat up and Bobby on the ground, bleeding. I turned to Sam. "You fight, I'll heal," I said before running towards Bobby. "Cristo." I checked but he didn't even flinch. I stood up and opened a drawer, grabbing my first aid kit. I ran back over to him, dodging demons, as I put gauze around his wound, he probably needed surgery to heal it. I felt a presence behind me and stood up, tripping the demon behind me. It fell slightly and I stabbed it in the heart. I smiled triumphantly, turning back to Bobby. I took out my phone to call 911. I noticed Dean was in trouble and I ran over to him, stabbing the demon on top of him and kicked it to the side. I turned around, but Meg smoked out of her vessel. I quickly turned back to Bobby and helped him up, Sam and Dean helping me.

~

We got Bobby to a hospital and the boys wanted to go back to where the sword is. When we got there we saw bodies laying in the middle of the floor.

"I see you told the demons where the sword is." I heard an obnoxiously familiar voice. We all turned to see Zachariah.

"Oh, thank god. The angel's are here." Dean said sarcastically.

"And to think... They could've grabbed it any time they wanted," he said, closing the door behind us, it making a loud scraping noise. "It was right in front of them."

"What do you mean?" Sam asked.

"We may have planted that particular piece of prophecy inside Chucks skull, but it happened to be true. We did lose the Michael sword. We truly couldn't find it. Until now. You've just hand-delivered it to us."

"We don't have anything." Dean said and Zachariah looked almost annoyed.

"It's you, chucklehead," he walked closer. "You're the Michael Sword,"

We all stared at Zachariah in shock and disbelief. He smiled at us before continuing.

"What, you thought you could actually kill Lucifer? You simpering wad of insecurity and self-loathing? No. You're just a human, Dean. And not much of one."

"What do you mean, I'm the sword?" Dean asked.

"You're Michael's weapon. Or rather, his... Receptacle." Zachariah answered.

"I'm a vessel?" Dean asked.

"You're the vessel. Michael's vessel." he said and my eyes flickered from Zachariah to Dean.

"How? Why-Why me?" Dean asked.

"Because you're chosen! It's a great honor, Dean."

"Oh, yeah! Yeah, life as an angel condom. That's real fun. I think I'll pass, thanks." Dean said.

"Joking. Always joking. Well... No more jokes," Zachariah held up his hand in a gun shape. He pointed it at Dean before slowly pointing it at my legs. "Bang." he said. Pain erupted through my legs as I heard a crack and fell to the ground, screaming in pain.

"You son of a bitch!" Dean spat as Sam leaned down to me.

"Keep mouthing off, I'll break more than her legs," Zachariah said as I leaned into Sam, breathing heavily. "I am completely and utterly through screwing around. The war has begun. We don't have our general. That's bad. Now Michael is going to take his vessel and lead the final charge against the adversary. You understand me?"

"How many humans die in the crossfire, huh? A million? Five? Ten?" Dean asked.

"Probably more. If Lucifer goes unchecked, you know how many die? All of them. He'll roast the planet alive." Zachariah replied and I looked to my two broken legs before back to Sammy with my eyes shut. Seeing that was not a good thing.

"There's a reason you're telling me this instead of just nabbing me. You need my consent. Michael needs my say-so to ride around in my skin." Dean said and I looked back to them.

"Unfortunately, yes." Zachariah said.

"Well, there's got to be another way." Dean shook his head slightly.

"There is no other way. There must be a battle. Michael must defeat the serpent. It is written." Zachariah argued.

"Yeah, maybe. But, on the other hand," Dean paused. "Eat me. The answer's no."

"Okay, how about this? Your friend, Bobby, we know he's gravely injured. Uh, say yes, and we'll heal him. Say no, he'll never walk again." Zachariah said and I looked up to Dean in anticipation.

"No." he answered.

"Then how about we heal you from... Stage four stomach cancer." he said and all of a sudden, Dean started coughing. He fell to the floor and I reached out for him, still being held by Sam.

"No." Dean said when he wasn't coughing.

"Then let's get really creative. Uh, let's see how... Sam does without his lungs." he said and Sam started trying to breathe, not being able to. I reached out for both of them but my legs were still hurting and all of a sudden my body felt like it was on fire. I fell into a ball and started screaming, but it seemed like the scream wouldn't come, like it was stuck in my throat. "Are we having fun yet?" Zachariah asked. I squeezed my eyes shut in pain as I continued attempting to scream. I heard him whisper to Dean, but I was too busy on fire to notice.

"Just kill us." I heard Dean.

"Kill you? Oh no. I'm just getting started," Zachariah said before there was a bright flash of light. I opened my eyes to see one of the angels getting killed. Holding the blade was Cass, and he fought the other angel, beating him to hell before stabbing and killing him. I stared as he walked closer to us, not silently screaming. My angel came to save us. "How are you..." Zachariah asked, trailing off.

"Alive? That's a good question. How did these three end up on that airplane? Another good question. Cause the angels didn't do it. I think we both know the answer, don't we?" he asked and I sighed. It was so nice to hear that voice again.

"No. That's not possible." Zachariah said.

"It scares you. Well, it should. Now, put these people back together and go. I won't ask twice." he demanded. In an instant, all my pain was gone and my legs felt normal as there was the whoosh noise of wings. I pulled my legs to my chest.

"Lefty! Righty! I'll never let anything happen to you again!" I said before standing up.

"You three need to be more careful." Cass walked forward and I restrained myself from murdering him with a hug.

"Yeah, I'm starting to get that. Your frat brothers are bigger dicks than I thought." Dean said and I rolled my eyes.

"I don't mean the angels. Lucifer is circling his vessel. And once he takes it, those hex bags won't be enough to protect you." he said, walking forward and putting his hands on my brothers chests. I watched as they groaned and grunted in pain before he pulled back and looked at me.

"What the hell was that?" Dean asked in pain.

"An enochian sigil. It'll hide you from every angel in creation, including Lucifer."

"What, you just brand us with it?" Dean asked.

"No, I carved it into your ribs." Cass said, staring at me as I backed up. I am not getting my ribs carved in to! Both the boys looked at me before Dean smirked slightly.

"Your turn." he grabbed me and pushed me toward Cass. He put his hand up but I held up a finger. I adjusted his tie slightly, tugging on it and making it straight, before pulling him to me as his lips pressed to mine. During the kiss he put his hand on my chest and I pulled away when an excruciating pain went through my ribs. I felt him hug me afterward and could just feel the awkwardness radiating off of Sam and Dean.

"Hey, Cass, were you really dead?" Sam asked and I hugged Cass closer.

"Yes." he answered and I turned my head to look at my brothers before back to snuggling into Cass.

"Then how are you back?" Dean asked and there was a short silence before Cass lightly pushed me off of him and disappeared. I groaned and turned to my brothers.

"He's a dick." I grumbled.

~

"How do I know you're telling the truth?" I saw a blonde man ask a black haired woman. They were sitting on a bed and it seemed that the blonde man was crying.

"Because contrary to popular belief, I don't lie. I don't need to. What I need... Is you. Nick, I need you to say yes." the black haired woman said. It flashbacked to an image of baby things and I realized the baby was dead.

"Then yes." The blonde man named Nick whispered with a trembling lip.

~

I woke up in the back of the impala, sweat beading on my forehead. My eyes were wide, what was that? I looked to Sam and Dean. Dean was driving and Sam looked asleep. When Dean noticed I was breathing heavy, he looked at me through the rearview mirror.

"You okay?" he asked and I shook my head clear from my dream.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I laid back down.

~

A/N So it's been a while since I've updated this, but it would've been earlier because I had like 6000 words and then Wattpad glitched and deleted it.

QOTD: Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Godstiel?

I'm really tired so I'm going to get this up and go to bed.

Thanks for reading.

Hope you liked it.

Goodnight my lovelies.
