Chapter Eighteen: Hello Death

The boys and I went on a hunt after Dean got a text from Chuck telling us to meet him somewhere. We were met with a ton of LARPER's as us. Trust me, you don't know true horror until you see big hairy dudes dressed as you. Becky was there too, being cringey around Sam as usual. It was only slightly disgusting. There were people wearing black contacts and selling the Supernatural books. I felt like I was going to throw up as I looked around. I got hit on by at least five different people that were wearing the exact same thing as my brothers, it was gross. I threatened to stab one and he backed off very quickly.

There was a whole Q&A with the "fans" and Chuck. We got dragged by some guy dressed as hook man. Then Chuck said that he was going to start publishing the books again and I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in anyone as much as I was with Chuck then. My brothers yelled at Chuck while I just stood back with a look of annoyance.

Then the LARPING started. Everyone went on a goose chase to find the "ghost of Leticia Gore" which was actually walking around the halls, mind you. After all the role play, we got drinks. Then some guy legitimately got beat up by a ghost and that's when our game began.

Apparently Leticia Gore actually ran the place back whenever and killed four boys. Some guy said we could find stuff in the attic, so that's where we went. We found a kid with a chunk of his head gone. Sam told us that Leticia scalped her kid, which is, one, wrong, and two, gross.

We found out two dudes pretending to be Sam and Dean had a real map of the place from over a century ago. At least the fake Dean had the same comebacks as our Dean. Fake Dean had showed a fake gun and our Dean began to pull out his own gun before me and Sam stopped him. They started calling Sam and Dean Rufus and Bobby, but I was still Rhett since there wasn't another one, which annoyed the Hell out of Dean. They had a conversation, like ones that my brothers would have, except it was as if they were making fun of them, and Dean and I finally stepped in, our anger and annoyance at it's high point.

After that, we dug up Leticia's grave, which fake Dean and Sam were very much against. Then she appeared and almost killed us all, as usual, before Dean salted and burned the bones.

We were going to leave, but the doors were locked shut and we were suddenly faced with a much worse situation. No exit opened, so we figured out that something was keeping us locked in. We found scalp kid once again and he told us that Leticia wasn't the one that scalped him. We heard a yell and found German hook guy dead. Sam told Chuck to keep everyone in one room as Dean got everyone else in the place into the same room. We got an actress that looked like Leticia to play Leticia to scare away the ghost kids, and it almost worked, but her phone went off. Me and Dean fought off the children while fake Sam and Dean dug graves and burned the kids bodies. Long story short, we all almost got scalped.

Before we left, Becky stopped us and told us where to find the colt. Apparently, Bella sold it to a demon named Crowley.

~

We were now having Cass follow that demon and I was on a phone call with him.

"The demon Crowley is making a deal. Even as we speak, it's... going... down." Cass said through the phone and furrowed my eyebrows.

"So, he's kissing someone. Just don't lose him, okay?" I said.

"I won't lose him." Cass answered and I smiled as we hung up.

It wasn't long before I got another call from Cass and sighed, answering it.

"I followed him. It wasn't far, but... It's layered in Enochian warding magic. I can't get in." he said and I sighed.

"That's fine. Thanks Cass. You did great. We got it from here."

~

We got Jo's help on it. Remember Jo? Yeah, she decided to help us with Crowley. I was apparently, "too known as a hunter." or something like that. She got us in there, having a run in with some creepo demons. When we got in, we cut out the power, setting up a devil's trap as we waited for Crowley to come to us.

Soon enough a nicely dressed man with very short hair walked up to us. He looked like he was sometime in his 40s.

"It's Crowley, right?" Sam asked and he smirked.

"So... The Hardy boys and Nancy Drew finally found me. Took you long enough." he said in a gruff British accent before walking up to us, stopping to look at the rug we'd thrown over the Devil's trap (which sucked because I had to be careful that I didn't step in that). He knelt down and lifted the rug to reveal the Devil's trap and I gulped slightly, "Do you have any idea how much this rug costs?" Crowley asked as he stood up and suddenly, all three of us were being attacked from behind and I grunted as my gun was taken from my hands. I tried to fight but I was held by one of Crowley's creepo demon guards, "This is it, right?" He asked, raising the colt in front of us, "This is what it's all about." he said, inspecting the pistol before aiming it at Dean. My eyes went wide before he moved his aim slightly and shot, the bullet hitting the demon holding Dean. He then shot the one holding Sam and then the one holding me.

I looked at the bodies before to my brothers, who looked as confused as me, if not more.

"We need to talk. Privately." he said and I looked at the boys as they looked at each other and then to me before following the demon. He led us into a very nice room, just like the rest of his house, it looked almost like an office.

"What the hell is this?" Dean asked.

"Do you know how deep I could've buried this thing?" Crowley asked, turning to us and raising the colt slightly as he walked behind a desk. He waved his hand and the door behind us slammed shut and my eyes widened as I turned back to it before to him. Cool, "There's no reason you or anyone should know this even exists at all. Except that I told you."

"You told us?" Sam asked and I snorted a laugh.

"Rumors, innuendo... Sent out on the grapevine." Crowley said and I furrowed my eyebrows, confused by where this conversation was going.

"Why? Why tell us anything?" Sam asked. Crowley held up the gun once more and aimed it at Dean, as he had before. I automatically became slightly more protective and shifted a bit.

"I want you to take this thing to Lucifer and empty it into his face." Crowley explained and Dean started nodding.

"Uh-huh. Okay. And why exactly would you want the Devil dead?" Dean asked in confusion.

"It's called..." Crowley put the colt on the desk, "survival. But I forgot-you three, at best, are functional morons." he insulted and I glared, about to say something when Dean spoke first.

"Yeah, you're functioning... morons. Mor..." he stopped, realizing whatever he was trying to say was idiotic. I rolled my eyes.

"Lucifer isn't a demon, remember? He's an angel-an angel famous for his hatred of humankind. To him, you two boys are just... filthy bags of pus." he said. I thought about why he said them and not me before remembering how future Lucifer treated Dark me. Crowley turned and reached for something, picking up a glass of something, most likely alcoholic, "If that's the way he feels about you...what can he think about us?"

"Okay, but didn't Lucifer create demons?" I asked and he looked down.

"To him, we're just servants. Cannon fodder. If Lucifer manages to exterminate humankind... we're next. So... help me. Huh? Let's all go back to simpler, better times. Back to... when we could all follow our natures. I'm in sales, damn it. So, what do you say? What if... I give you this thing... and you go kill the devil?" he asked, picking the colt back up and holding it out to us. I looked at them as they both looked super stressed out.

"You have a very nice accent." I blurted out, not liking the silence.

"We do not compliment the demons." Dean said and I rolled my eyes.

"Why not, brother?" I turned back to him and he seemed taken aback and I raised an eyebrow.

"Sorry, white eyes, forgot you were half demon." he mumbled before Crowley cleared his throat and we turned back to him. He waved the gun around and Sam hesitantly took it from him.

"Okay." he said and Crowley smiled.

"Great." Crowley said and I could tell both Sam and Crowley were planning something.

"You wouldn't happen to know where the devil is, by chance, would you?" Sam asked and I eyed them both. This guy seemed smarter than to just give Winchesters a loaded gun that could kill him.

"Thursday. Birdies tell me... he has an appointment in Carthage, Missouri." Crowley said and Sam looked at me and Dean.

"Great." he said, turning back to Crowley as he nodded his head, "Thanks." he said, looking at the gun. He then lifted it to Crowley's head, trying to shoot, but the only sound that emitted from it was clicks.

"Oh, yeah, right. You probably need some more ammunition." Crowley said, turning and walking behind to get ammo from the drawers. I looked at Sam and lifted my hand, hitting him over the head. He reached up to his head and looked at me with a glare before looking at Crowley once again.

"Uh, excuse me for asking, but aren't you kind of signing your own death warrant? I mean, what happens to you if we go up against the devil and lose?" Dean asked.

"Number one-he's gonna wipe us all out anyway. Two-after you leave here, I go on an extended vacation to all points nowhere. And three-how about you don't miss?! Okay?! Morons!" he shouted at us, throwing a bag of ammo at me and I jumped slightly. I opened it to see that it was actually filled and when I looked back up, Crowley was gone.

"I didn't like his tone."

~

I threw the shot glass down and we all looked at Cass.

"All right, big boy. Let's go." Ellen said and he did a line of five shots in under thirty seconds, leaving us staring at him in shock. He glanced at me before back at Ellen.

"I think I'm starting to feel something." he said and I grinned, looking at Jo and Ellen who were sitting opposite of me and Cass.

We continued drinking, me downing as much as I could until I was slurring all of my words. I grinned and moved onto Cass' lap, running my hands through his hair as he looked at me.

"You're the cutest angel." I smiled, booping his nose.

"I, uh, thank you." he said, looking away as a light shade of red crossed his cheeks and the back of his neck. I giggled and hiccuped before kissing his forehead as Dean walked past us. I pulled back and Cass smiled. I cupped his cheek as he wrapped his arms around my waist, leaning over and pressing our lips together. I smiled into the kiss, running my other hand through his hair.

"Everybody, get in here! It's time for the lineup." Bobby shouted from the other room and I pulled back from Cass, glaring, but standing up and walking into the room with the rest of them. He looked back at us while he set up his camera, "Usual suspects, in the corner." he ordered, throwing his thumb over his shoulder as I patted down my hair as if it was messed up,

"Oh, come on, Bobby. Nobody wants their picture taken." Ellen complained as I looked at Cass' hair.

"Hear, hear." Sam said in agreement as I pulled Cass into the room.

"Shut up. You're drinkin' my beer." he said and Ellen chuckled slightly, "Anyway..." Bobby wheeled away from the camera, "I'm gonna need something to remember your sorry asses by." he said and Ellen laughed.

I stood in between Cass and Sam. Cass was at the end and Sam stood beside Dean, who stood beside Jo. Ellen stood in front of both Sam and Dean, next to Bobby. Sam had his arm around me and Dean and Cass wrapped his arm around my waist as if to pull me closer, which caused my eyes to widen a little bit as I became slightly more sober.

"Always good to have an optimist around." Ellen joked.

"Bobby's right. Tomorrow we hunt the devil. This is our last night on Earth." Cass said and everything became slightly more tense as all our smiles dropped. I shrugged, noticing that the picture was about to take, so I leaned up and kissed Cass' cheek as a flash of light blinded us all.

~

We drove into town. Sam and Dean were in the impala while Jo, Ellen, Cass and I were in Ellen's truck.

"So why didn't you ride with your brothers?" Ellen asked, still confused. I'd told them the whole soulmate thing, but saying, "We're soulmates." doesn't really explain much.

"Castiel and I are soul mates, meaning we can feel each others pain and emotions. I love my brothers, but if this is my last day on Earth, I'd like to spend as much as it as I can with the one person I..." I stopped, looking up at Cass as he looked at me with a confused expression, "I like very much and am destined to be with." I said and Ellen laughed. Just because I expressed my love to him doesn't mean I wanted everyone to know about my sappy moments.

"Such poetry." she joked and I rolled my eyes as we pulled up beside the impala, windows down, "Place seem a little empty to you?"

"We're gonna go check out the PD. You guys stay here, see if you can find anybody." Dean said and Ellen nodded.

"Okay."

We parked and Ellen, Jo, and I got out of the car, me walking to Jo's side as she knocked on the back window, looking at Cass.

"Ever heard of a door handle?" She asked and turned around to be met with him standing in front of her.

"Of course I have." he answered and Jo and Ellen looked at him and the car, confused as I rolled my eyes, trying not to laugh. Cass began to look around the empty streets, looking almost scared.

"What is it?" I asked, trying to see what he saw.

"This town's not empty." he said and I furrowed my eyebrows, looking around, "Reapers." he said and turned to me, "Henrietta, you should be able to see them, you just have to concentrate on your powers." he said and I looked at the empty streets, trying to concentrate enough to see the reapers. I blinked and jumped. It was just a ton of old dudes in suits.

"'Reapers? As in more than one?" Ellen asked as Cass and I looked around.

"They only gather like this at times of great catastrophe-Chicago fire, San Francisco quake... Pompeii. Excuse me, I need to find out why they're here." Cass said and began to walk away.

"I'll come with you." I said and he turned back.

"No." he said and I stopped, taken aback.

"What do you mean 'No'." I said, mimicking his voice.

"You stay with Ellen and Jo. It's safest with them." he said.

"You think I care? You're my soulmate, I just found you, Cass." I said and he seemed to tense up as I walked closer to him. He gave me a strange look.

"I don't know if I'll be able to keep us both safe. I don't want to lose you." I heard in my mind and frowned, "Please." he said aloud.

"Fine. Be safe." I said and he nodded, turning and walking away. I turned back to Ellen and Jo. They were both staring at us, but upon seeing my gaze, they looked at each other quickly.

"So, that way?" Ellen asked, pointing in the opposite direction of where Cass went.

"That way." Jo said and they both got started walking away. I rolled my eyes and followed.

~

After looking around for a while, we got back in the car and drove to the PD, finding Sam and Dean leaning against the impala.

"Station's empty." Dean said, sounding annoyed as we pulled up beside them.

"So is everything else." Ellen said and I popped my head out of the car window so that they could see me.

"Have you seen Cass?" I asked, hoping they had. I had a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach.

"What?" Sam asked, "He was with you." he said and I sighed, leaning back and putting a hand on my forehead.

"Nope. He went after the reapers." Ellen said. I should have gone with him.

I saw fire. It was just a flash of fire, blue eyes shone from before them. I didn't have time to see anything else.

"He saw reapers? Where?" Sam asked. I realized I had missed Dean saying something, but it obviously wasn't important.

"They were everywhere." I answered, "And they were all old guys." I added.

"You saw them too?" Dean asked.

"Yup."

~

"Well, this is great. We've been in town for twenty minutes. We've already lost the angel up our sleeve." Dean said. We were walking around town, guns in hands. I continued to have visions of the fire hiding the blue eyes, so I asked to walk in the middle. Jo and Ellen were in front and Sam and Dean were behind me.

"You think, uh... You think Lucifer got him?" Sam asked and I couldn't help, but feel a tug at my heart. If Lucifer did get to him, then Cass wasn't dead yet, but he would be soon.

"I don't know what else to think." Dean said and I stopped to look back at them.

"He's alive." I said. I would be in a lot of pain if he wasn't. I turned back around and kept following Ellen and Jo. We were turning a corner when we heard a familiar voice.

"There you are." we all quickly turned around, raising our guns. I faced the demon I recognized as Meg and glared. She raised an eyebrow at us all.

"Meg!" Sam exclaimed.

"You shouldn't have come here, guys." she said and I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah? Well, I could say the same thing for you." Dean said, stepping forward to be intimidating and aiming the colt at her.

"Didn't come here alone, Dean-o." She said and I heard a growl, looking to see the puddle besides her splashing by itself. We heard barking from all around us. My eyes widened as I realized what it was.

"Hellhounds!" Dean said.

"Yeah, Dean. Your favorite." Meg said and my glare narrowed, "Come on, you three. My father wants to see you."

"I think we'll pass. Thanks." Sam said and I nodded.

"Your call." Meg shrugged, "You can make this easy, or you can make it really, really hard." she said and there was a deep growl behind us.

"When have you known us to ever make anything easy?" Dean asked before shooting the spot beside Meg, hitting the hellhound as blood exploded from nothing and it whimpered. We all turned and began running in the opposite direction, trying to get as far away from it as possible. I heard a thud and turned to see Dean on the ground.

"Dean!" I shouted, about to run back for him when Sam grabbed me and kept running. I saw Jo run back for Dean as I tried to fight Sam.

"Jo, stay back!" Dean shouted, but Jo didn't listen. She began shooting at the hellhounds with her shotgun as Sam reached a safe distance with me, setting me down. We turned and watched Jo shoot at a hellhound. It got off of Dean and I'm pretty sure was dead, but when Jo turned around, she was immediately knocked to the ground.

"Jo!" I cried.

"No!" Ellen cried as Jo's stomach was ripped open and she let out an ear piercing scream. I felt tears fill my eyes as I held up my shotgun, walking with Sam as we shot at it plus others. I saw Dean pick up Jo and I ran up to them, opening a door to a nearby shop and letting them in. Sam and Ellen soon followed. Jo was moaning and groaning as blood dripped on the floor. Dean set her down as I helped Sam chain the doors so that the hounds wouldn't get in. Afterwards, the boys quickly salted the windows and I looked for anything that could slow down the bleeding. I found some gauze and ran back to Jo and Ellen. Jo moved her hand as the boys joined us. I lifted her shirt and gagged at the awful site, rolling the gauze around her with help from Ellen.

We continued to do all that we could to make her better before I realized the seriousness of the situation. Jo would die and that was certain.

I tried not to cry as I walked up to Dean. He was trying to get a radio working, probably to connect to Bobby and I had an idea. Sam walked up to Dean and I left them alone, sitting on a floor next to the wall.

Castiel.

~

I looked around at where I was. This was new. I was on the floor, sitting like I had been in the shop. I stood up and looked around. Everything around me was white, with the exception of colorful flowers growing all over the ground. It was odd, to say the least.

"Cass!" I shouted, biting my lip.

"Sorry, your little angel can't come to the phone right now." I heard behind me and turned quickly, seeing who I presumed was Lucifer. I tensed up slightly as I looked him up and down, blond hair, blue-green eyes, scruff--I realized it was the same guy from my vision, Nick, and his face seemed to be almost melting. I didn't think he was Nick anymore.

"What's wrong with your face?" I asked, crossing my arms as he rolled his eyes.

"My vessel, Nick, isn't holding as well as I'd hoped, but it's okay because I will soon have-"

"My brother? No way, Joseph." I shook my head, to which he glared.

"He will come around." Lucifer said and I snorted a laugh.

"Yeah, sure, anyways, where's Cass?" I asked and he grinned.

"Why don't you come find out for yourself? Oh, yeah, hellhounds, Meg, inevitable death if you leave you're little hidey-hole." he said with sass.

"Ooh, you have personality. I might have liked you if you weren't, oh, you know, evil." I said, chuckling. He smiled at me before looking down.

"Well, I'll be seeing you, Rhett." he said.

"Don't you disappear on me!" I exclaimed, to which he cocked a brow at me, "You listen to me," suddenly I was very serious, remembering Jo's situation, "You're going to call of Meg and her dogs and you're going to let Ellen and Jo get to a hospital," he seemed in thought, tapping his bottom lip with his index finger before pointing at me.

"And if I don't?"

"I won't stop hunting you down until the day I die, or until you do," I growled.

"Oh, Rhett, honey, baby," I grimaced at the nicknames as he took a few steps closer to me, clasping his hands together in front of him, "You were going to do that no matter what. Bye bye now," and with that, he was gone, and everything went white.

~

I gasped as Sam put a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him, wide-eyed as he looked at me.

"You okay?" he asked and I nodded, standing up. I waved him off and began walking around. I heard a radio and a familiar voice and furrowed my eyebrows, turning the corner.

"-Did Cass say how many reapers?" I heard the end of a sentence. Dean was standing there, holding a radio in his hands. I guess he'd got it to work seeing as the voice coming from it was Bobby's.

"I-I don't know. He said a lot of things, I guess. I mean, does the number matter?" Dean asked, not seeing me as I made my way to him.

"Devil's in the details, Dean." I heard Bobby as Ellen walked up to Dean and tapped him on the shoulder, motioning for him to pass her the radio. He held it closer to her and pressed the button so that Bobby could hear her.

"Bobby, it's Ellen. The way they were looking, the number of places Castiel's and Rhett's eyes went, I'd say we're talking over a dozen reapers-probably more." She explained.

"Hundreds." I said and they both noticed me, "They were everywhere."

"I do not like the sound of that." Bobby said and Ellen walked away.

"Nobody likes the sound of that, Bobby, but-what-what does that sound like?" Dean asked and I walked up to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. I could tell he was stressed with everything happening, so was I. Plus, Lucifer had Cass and I didn't know how or when to tell them.

"It sounds like Death, son. I think Satan's in town to work a ritual. I think he's planning to unleash Death." Bobby explained and my eyes widened.

"You mean, like, as in this dude and taxes are the only sure thing?" Dean asked, trying to get things straight and I rolled my eyes at him.

"As in Death-the Horseman, the pale rider in the flesh." Bobby said, and I nodded, already knowing that, but I didn't want to interrupt.

""Unleash"? I-I mean h-hasn't Death been tromping all over the place? I mean, Hell, I've died several times myself." Dean said.

"Me too." I cut in and he nodded at me as if saying "See."

"Not this guy. This is-This is the angel of Death, big daddy reaper. They keep this guy chained in a box 600 feet under. Last time they hauled him up, Noah was building a boat." Bobby said and something clicked within me; I understood.

"Satan's building a boat." I said, metaphorically, of course, but they got it.

"That's why the place is crawling with reapers. They're waiting on the big boss to show." Bobby said and I looked at Dean, who looked almost dead inside before moving the mic back to his face.

"You have any other good news?" he asked sarcastically and I softly rubbed his back, trying to relax him slightly. He may be the older brother, but I always felt a sense to watch over both him and Sam, even though the three, dad, Sam, and Dean, always treated me like I was the youngest.

"Well, in a manner of speaking. I've been researching Carthage since you've been gone, trying to suss out what the Devil might want there. What you just said drops the last piece of the puzzle in place. The angel of Death must be brought into the world at midnight, through a place of awful carnage. Now, back during the Civil War, there was a battle in Carthage-a battle so intense, the soldiers called it "The Battle Of Hellhole"." Bobby stated and we listened carefully.

"Where'd the massacre go down?" Dean asked questionably.

"On the land of William Jasper's farm." Bobby said and I backed away, pain rushing through my head as I saw the same pair of eyes through fire. I backed into someone and turned to see Ellen.

"You alright, honey?" she asked, holding my arm as I guessed I had a look of terror on my face.

"Need to sit down." I said, sliding to the floor as the image became easier to see.

I saw Cass standing in a circle of fire. Lucifer was standing outside of it, leaning on a wall while he stared at Cass.

"I talked to your little girlfriend, Henrietta." Lucifer smirked and Cass seemed to get defensive.

"If you hurt her, I-"

"Relax, I'm not going to do anything... Yet." Lucifer waved him off. Soon after that, I watched as Meg walked in behind Castiel. She had a grin on her face that I wanted to slap off. Hell, I wanted to slap her all the way to next century.

"I got the Winchesters pinned down--for now, at least. What should I do with them?" she asked excitedly, expecting Lucifer to answer with something like torture or kill us, but what he said surprised me.

"Leave them alone." he said, looking deep in thought. I couldn't keep my eyes off his face and hand, which were still peeling like a bad burn.

"I-I'm sorry, but are you sure? Shouldn't we-" Meg started, but before she could continue Lucifer turned to her.

"Trust me, child." He walked up to her and caressed her cheeks, "Everything happens for a reason." he said and she smiled once again, staring up at him. I moaned in pain at my headache from the vision, but it wouldn't go away, and soon I saw Cass wince as well, "Well, Castiel... You have some time. Time to change your mind." Lucifer said and I couldn't help but be confused. Change his mind about what?

Everything faded out and I saw Ellen sitting over by Jo and my brothers talking to each other.

"-We just have to get past eight or so Hellhounds and get to the farm by midnight." I heard Sam say to Dean.

"Yeah, and that's after we get Jo and Ellen the Hell out of town." Dean said and I frowned. Sam took a deep breath, thinking.

"Won't be easy." he shook his head. I bit my lip, looking down at my hands.

"Stretcher?" Dean asked.

"I'll see what we got." Sam said softly, but we could all still hear him. They turned to go separate directions, but didn't get far.

"Stop." Jo said and we all turned to her, "Guys, stop. Can we, uh, be realistic about this, please?" She asked and I stood, walking behind my brothers closer to her. She winced at the pain caused by the tears in her stomach, "I can't move my legs. I can't be moved. My guts are being held in by an ace bandage. We got to... We got to get our priorities straight here." I shared glances with my brothers before we all looked back at her, "Number one, I'm not going anywhere."

"Joanna Beth, you stop talking like that." Ellen warned.

"Mom. I can't fight. I can't walk. But I can do something." Jo said and I looked down at my feet, suddenly finding them very interesting, "We've got propane, wiring, rock salt, iron nails-everything we need." she said and there was only one slightly logical thing I could think of making with those.

"Everything we need?" Sam asked, confused.

"To build a bomb, Sam." she said and both me and Ellen looked at her.

"No." Dean said and I shook my head.

"You can't. I can-I can figure out how to heal you. I can find Cass and he can heal you-"

"We don't have the time, Rhett. Besides, those are hellhounds out there. They've got all of our scents. They'd kill you in a second. And if they don't, those bitches will never stop coming after you." she said seriously and I looked down, my eyes becoming glossy, but I wouldn't let myself cry. I wasn't the one that was going to die, "We let the dogs in, you guys hit the roof, make a break for the building next over, and I can wait here with my finger on the button. Rip those mutts a new one." She smiled slightly, "Or at least get you a few minute's head start, anyway."

"No, I... I won't let you." Ellen said, her voice cracking.

"This is why we're here, right?" Jo asked and Ellen shook her head, "If I can get us a shot on the Devil..." she said, looking at Dean and knowing he would say the exact same thing as Ellen. He looked so heartbroken, "Dean, we have to take it." she said and he turned.

"No!" Ellen cried, looking up at us. I felt Sam wrap his arm around me and pull me to him as I bit my lip, refusing to cry, "That's not-"

"Mom. This might literally be your last chance to treat me like an adult. You might want to take it." Jo cut her off and I felt a tear stream down my cheek, watching Ellen begin to cry. Jo looked up at us as her mom whimpered. Ellen looked up at Jo and they smiled sadly at each other before Ellen turned to us, not looking at us.

"You heard her." she sniffled, "Get to work."

~

It was nightfall before we finished the bomb and I looked around, making sure that everything was right as Dean talked to Jo. I walked back to them to see Ellen kneeling in front of Jo as Sam and Dean stood to the side. They pulled me in between them and I turned to Sam, digging my face into his chest so I wouldn't cry as Ellen sat with Jo. She wanted to stay, but what mother wouldn't want to.

"Mom, no." Jo cried.

"Somebody's got to let them in. And like you said, you're not moving. You got me, Jo. And you're right. This is important. But I will not leave you here alone." Ellen said and I bit my lip.

"Dean?" Sam asked.

"Get going now, guys." Ellen said and I nodded hesitantly.

"Ellen?" Dean asked. I put my hand in his.

"I said go." Ellen said and we did as she said. We left them there, "And Dean..." he turned back to her, "Kick it in the ass. Don't miss."

We made our way down the ladder from the roof. We weren't two building's away when there was an explosion. I finally felt the tears stream down my face as I hugged Sam. The flames were huge and hot and I hoped that it was enough to kill the hounds.

"We gotta go. Come on." Sam encouraged me and I nodded, wiping my eyes as we ran in the direction of the farm.

"I guess we know what happened to some of the townspeople." Dean said as we looked through bushes. There were over a dozen guys standing there, all watching Lucifer dig--or fill up some big hole. All three of us shared glances before looking back at the scene.

"Okay."

"Okay."

"You guys didn't even do that in sync, what is the point of you?" I asked and they both looked at me, bitch-facing.

"Really?" they asked in unison and I smiled. They looked back through the bushes, as did I.

"Last words?" Sam asked.

"I think I'm good." Dean said after a long silence.

"Yeah, me too." Sam said and they both looked at me.

"I'm in love with Castiel." I blurted out without thinking about it.

"We know." they said in unison once again. I was about to ask how, but before I could, Dean spoke again.

"Anyways, here goes nothin'." he said, trying to change the subject. We made sure the gun was cocked before walking up behind Lucifer, who was still digging.

"Hey!" Sam shouted and he turned his attention to us, pausing his digging. Sam and I walked through the crowds of people and cocked our guns, guns in which we knew could not kill him, "You wanted to see me?!" Sam asked and I moved away slightly.

"Well, Sam, Rhett, you don't need those guns here." he said, walking closer to us, "You know I'd never hurt you. Not really." he said and I tried to keep my eyes on him as he looked between me and my brother. I could see Dean sneaking up with my peripheral vision until he got the barrel of the colt aimed at Lucifer's head.

"Yeah?" Dean asked and I smirked as the smile dropped from Lucifer's face, "Well, I'd hurt you." he cocked the gun as Lucifer looked at him slowly, "So suck it."

Dean fired the gun and Lucifer's head bounced back before he fell to the ground. I smiled, thinking we'd done it. I looked at my brothers as they looked skeptical, we all knew it couldn't be that easy.

And of course, we were right. Soon enough Lucifer gasped awake again and rolled onto his back.

"Oww." he drew out and my smile dropped into an expression of fear. I quickly masked it, he couldn't know we were afraid of him, or it would give him the advantage. He stood up and groaned, putting his hand to his head where I could now see the bullet wound and grimaced. He looked back at Dean, "Where did you get that?" he asked before punching him. Dean went flying until he hit a tree and I did all I could to keep myself from running after him. I looked back to Lucifer and watched the bullet wound vanish.

"That's a neat trick. Wanna teach me that trick sometime?" I rambled nervously. He very obviously faked a laugh.

"Your brother just shot me!" he raised his voice, stopping his fake laugh short before calming down, "Now... Where were we?" he asked, looking at Sam again, "Don't feel too bad, guys. There's only five things in all of creation that that gun can't kill, and... I just happen to be one of them. But if you give me a minute, I'm almost done." he said, noticing Sam and I were both anxious to run over to Dean and make sure he was okay. He went back to his digging and Sam ran to Dean and I stood there. I wanted to run to Dean, but something told me to punch Lucifer, so I very slowly crept up to him.

I felt anger in my veins as I stood behind him, but he noticed, it was clear.

"I said, I'm almost done, Rhett." he said, not looking away from his digging.

"Why did you dig a hole?" I asked, crossing my arms. I wasn't close enough to see what was in it. I had no chance to punch him, besides, I doubted it would do anything if I did.

"You'll see, now go be a good girl and check on your brother like Sam did." he said and I rolled my eyes, walking over to Sam. He could kill me, but I might be valuable to both teams, seeing as neither of them have seen anything like me. That means that if Lucifer got Sam as a vessel, it would be easier to kidnap me, plus he'd be able to use me to his advantage, which I would never let happen. I tried not to think of the possibility of me becoming like Dark future me for Lucifer's advantage.

I finally got an idea and decided to use my new ability and looked at him, concentrating-not on his appearance, but on his soul. Soon enough, I saw it. It was so bright, almost blinding, I had to look away. It was even brighter than Gabriel's.

"You know..." he stopped digging for a moment and rested his hands on his shovel, clearing his throat, "I don't suppose you'd just say "yes" right here and now? End this whole tiresome discussion? That's crazy, right?" he asked Sam.

"Oh, crazy like you?" I asked and he looked at me, shushing me.

"You had your chance to speak, Sam's moment now." he said, holding his index finger to his lips before pointing at Sam.

"It's never gonna happen!" Sam shouted and Lucifer went back to digging.

"Oh, I don't know, Sam. I think it will. I think it'll happen soon-within six months. And I think it'll happen in Detroit." he said, looking back at us and my breathing hitched for a moment as I remembered when me and Dean went to the future.

"You listen to me, you son of a bitch. I'm gonna kill you myself. You understand me? I'm going to rip your heart out!" Sam shouted as Lucifer smiled at him and went back to digging once again.

"That's good, Sam. You keep fanning that fire in your belly-all that pent-up rage. I'm gonna need it." Lucifer said and I glared at him, moving closer to Sam.

"Don't listen to him." I whispered and he nodded before looking around at the people that were gathered.

"What did you do? What did you do to this town?" Sam asked as we glanced back at the Devil.

"Oh, I was very generous with this town. One demon for every able-bodied man." he replied.

"And the rest of them?" Sam asked. Lucifer looked at us and smiled, almost like a little kid on Christmas.

"In there." he pointed at his hole that he had been apparently filling back up for a while now. He shrugged, "I know-it's awful. But... These horsemen are so demanding. So it was... Women and children first." he continued digging and sighed, stopping once again and leaning on his shovel to look at us, "I know what you must think of me, guys. But I have to do this. I have to. You, of all people, should understand." he said, the end specifically to Sam and I furrowed my eyebrows, looking at my brother.

"Well, what's that supposed to mean?" he asked and Lucifer nodded.

"Wait, hold on, sorry." he dropped the shovel and looked at me, "Rhett?" he said.

"Hello, Luci. Can I call you Luci? I think I'll call you Luci." I said, crossing my arms and he huffed a chuckle, walking closer to me, "What do you want?" I asked, trying not to show my fear as he got closer.

"And..." he dragged out, "Sleep." he said, putting a hand on my forehead as everything went black.

I woke up again, not too long after as Dean and Sam were now sitting near me. I looked around to see the people who had gathered dropping like flies and we looked at Lucifer.

"What?" he asked, shrugging, "They're just demons." he said and my eyes went wide. I had forgot that he didn't care about demons, and Meg was a demon. I felt myself smile slightly, before an image came to my mind and I groaned, grabbing my head in pain.

I saw Cass in the ring of holy fire again, he was staring at something that I couldn't see as Meg walked around him, a smile on her stupid face.

"You seem pleased." he said as Meg put her hands on a wall nearby, looking back at him.

"We're gonna win." she said and I grimaced, "Can you feel it?" She chuckled, "You cloud-hopping pansies lost the whole damn Universe. Lucifer's gonna take over Heaven. We're going to Heaven, Clarence." She laughed and I watched Cass turn his hand slightly. I looked around for what he was doing and saw a bolt on a pipe coming loose. He smiled, ever so slightly.

"Strange. Because I heard a different theory from a demon named Crowley." Cass said and Meg's smile dropped.

"You don't know Crowley." Meg said without emotion.

"He believes that Lucifer is just using Demons to achieve an end." I saw the bolt come out and felt hope, "And that...once he does...he'll destroy you all." he spaced out, walking to the end of his holy fire ring.

"You're wrong." Meg backed up.

"No you aren't." I thought and saw Cass smile ever so slightly.

"Lucifer is the father of our race-our creator. Your God may be a deadbeat, but mine-mine walks the Earth." she said and I saw Cass unscrew another bolt and as it came out, the huge pipe fell and pushed Meg into the ring with Cass, clashing them together. He put his hand on her forehead, I guessed to kill her, but nothing happened and he pulled away quickly. She laughed, "You can't gank demons, can you? You're cut off from the home office, and you ain't got the juice. So what can you do, you impotent sap?" she asked, very close to his face, it brought me a slight feeling of pain.

"I can do this." Cass said, seeming like he was going to kiss her.

Then everything faded out and I cursed myself for not finishing the vision. Maybe if I hadn't got jealous-no. Everything happens for a reason, except I didn't feel pain, other than my feelings of course. I looked around to see Lucifer with his arms outstretched as Cass appeared beside us and I tried not to look at him as if I'd just seen what happened. He held up his index finger to his lips, indicating for us to be quiet and I nodded.

With one last glance at Lucifer, we were out of there, but I couldn't help but feel that we had failed in a way. Lucifer was still alive, and Death was on the way.

~

We stared at the photograph, all thinking different things. It was strange how one day, a person can be standing right in front of you and the next day they're just gone. Someone can be erased from existence and dead in less than a second, and that's what I feared.

I didn't bother to listen to the news report on Bobby's old TV as he rolled up to the fireplace in his wheelchair and held out the picture. Without a word, he threw it in the flames and I watched as they slowly ate up the photo. The last thing we had of Ellen and Jo, now turned to ash. I wiped a tear from my eye and clenched my fists, creating a promise in my mind.

I wouldn't let that happen to anyone I loved again.
